This is undoubtedly the best flash game i have ever even heard of, and would rank up there with some console games too. incredible work, man!!

Gameplay... 4/5. "Zone 2" is repetitive, the last zone brings new mazes.
But the story... was worth it. I wanted to play because I wanted to find out what happens next. Bosses have predictable attack patterns, which is the only way you can beat them in the last levels. ._.

This game has such excellent dialogue, characters, music, story... the only thing that's "merely" decent is the gameplay, where the action can be a little repetitive. The upgrade system is pretty good though. Still enjoyable enough to me. But definitely, this game deserves to be one of the highest rated games in kongregate. I've bought games with equal repetitive gameplay but with such lackluster story, music, characters etc. that it almost makes one retch. Wish this had come out when I felt the need for an RPG a while back!

the insurance skill needs to be buffed in the new game+, it pays an amount intended for the regular first stage... very little.

The story was nice, as repeatedly mentioned by everyone else. If you are (most likely) going to make a sequel, it would be better if you made the gameplay a bit more enjoyable. I endured through the repetitive ship combat just to see the storyline.

Sir... you have made my day. You have made my week. You have made my month. Seriously, words aren't able to express this... The title of the best game in flash ever made is only obvious here. There was no game with a better story on kong, and on my visual novels list this takes 3rd place, even though it's not a full-edged visual novel. Really... thank you.

*sniff* the ending is so sad.... masterfully done. If you ever make a standalone version of this that perhaps we could play in fullscreen, it would be worth a 5-10$ registration fee. Im not really an advocate of "premium" games, but this one is an exception. Give me fullscreen, and perhaps an extra chapter, and Id gladly pay for it.

Everyone keeps talking about how awesome the characters and plot are, then five minutes into the game I've got some girl going, "I have no idea who you are but I'm gonna leave my home and all my friends behind and come with you and become an outlaw who can legally be killed without trial! For no particular reason except that I guess you need the uncanny mechanical skills that I conveniently yet improbably possess! Narf!"

lol you surely love musical quotes: "With or without you" ; "In the end it doesn't even matters" ; "And then there was silence" i wonder how many other quotes are there?

Completed it 5/5 i would love a sequel. Controles could have been a bit smoother though, all others were great! Loved the music also. I finished the game with lazer/wave + the 3rd and 4th bomb.

Wonderful game, even though I'm really sad that I got my save deleted. Thankfully, I was early on, and it was my stupidity for thinking it auto-saved after every level. Great game.

This was truly a superb game. but like others were saying, the voting system needs tweaking, as some endings, are much easier to get then others. Also, considering how thorough the 'no wish' ending was, it is odd that we are not allowed to vote for it...

This is coming from my heart, xdanond:
You made Final Fantasy in space. FF didn't have great gameplay, combat-wise that is - it just existed as a tool, a remarkably good tool, to convey a sense of danger and to illustrate the epicness of the tale, sort of like pictures in a really good book.
And this is my gentle way of saying that it isn't the combat that's making me play, it's your writing. The, sometimes hard to achieve, blend of a good base story, a sense of detail and the self-distance to make fun of your work and crack some jokes.
What I want to say is that you've filled a hole in my gaming heart. A hole which you share with FF6, a game that I have unlimited love for. I'm pretty satisfied even if you don't make a sequel. Thanks.

Really good gameplay, an actual story and some rather nice characters. Although i find it extremely difficult to take seriously someone called Deuce.

@Corellie: That's probably because it is a visual novel, a genre that is composed by walls of text. Majority is text and storytelling, minority is actual player actions which generelly just influence what storyline you're going to follow. (In this case, more like the flash shooter part of the game)
So there's nothing wrong if you've got loads and loads of text, that's just how this genre works.

@coriellie: but the dialogue is the best part of the game :P
Btw the voting for what ending should be the official one os unfair since some endings are harder to accomplish than others. Either have no voting system and just have you (the author) pick the ending or anly allow voting when all the endings have been unlocked for that player

For secret ending. Obtain all characters endings in one go (so HardMode only for Neferiti) and you will have the 7 endings + the standard one. Choose the standard, it will be different this time. Thanks to KongRubix for the tip (and his secret ending video on youtube : watch?v=qMm0tsUFWCc)

I'm fine with the dialogue the way it is. It's supposed to be an SNES version. But Corelie is right in the sense that newer RPGs do handle dialogue better with interrupted dialogue with interactivity, animated cutscenes, and all that jazz.

The gameplay is fun, and the story is great, but oh my goodness there is so MUCH dialogue. I'd say if you get to do a sequel (which would be great!) either break up the mandatory dialogue with more action, create dialogue choices, or find some way to make the dialogue flow more quickly. I don't want to miss what they're talking about, I just want a higher fraction of interactivity.

@enlightenedfigh, even crush is better than lazer, sawblade is much better, charge shot can be better, and normal bomb with dual special ability upgrade is better than v bomb because it goes through walls and hits a lot more.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Pro tip: Only buy laser upgrade after acquiring it. Also only buy v-bomb upgrade. Rest is money you can use for the modules which are really useful.

Well this is disappointing...I clicked continue and it loaded up a save from the first world instead of the second....why would it save back then but not my most recent world?
