Want some experience winning? Start a Fire login. Sell all non-fire cards you can down to 30 cards. Get to 14 fire pillars and buy your way to six Fire Spirits (cheap!), six Fire Bolts (also cheap), 3 Deflagration. Destroy enemy shields/weapons/specials with Deflagration, firebolt enemy creatures ASAP, put down cheap fast-growing Fire Spirits whenever possible.

Great game ... Too hard?
Hint: First thing, sell various cards in your deck which are not in your element, and buy cards which ARE in your element. You'll want about 13 pillars of your element and some decent creatures / abilities.

Yeah, I give up on this. It just seems like you can never get much money (you get pitiful amounts from most victories), the enemy decks are pretty frequently broken now (I've seen 3 dragons and 2 rare weapons in a single deck, and Lord only knows what else that hadn't been played yet), and the slot machine thing hardly ever seems to give cards. I might just be unlucky, but it seems like it's a lot more than that.

Was there some kind of update today? If not, the deck generator hates me; if so, then it's just about broken the game. I have to play a single random deck today that has NOT had rare weapons. The Owl's Eye in particular is ridiculous, since if it is played within the first two or three turns it becomes impossible for the opponent to keep a creature on the field, yet it STILL does damage to them as well as their creatures.

Here's a good strategy:
Buy two or three pegasai. Make sure you have the same amount of parallel universes. Wind pillars, Aether pillars, and Light pillars make life easier. Summon one pegasus. Use it's ability the next turn. Then use a parallel universe on it. Note that the cloned pegasus will always have double the previous copy's original attack strength. Repeat that as many times as you want and you'll have a strong pegasus. This probably isnt the best strategy, because it sort of takes a while, and it can get poisoned, or eaten by an Otyugh.

Awesome, I wouldn't call it "create an account", you just have to pick a username and a password, so that the game can save your progress. It takes about 5 seconds.

with more than 100 games under my belt and a whole slew of cards (none of those awesome weapons yet) in my pocket, i find that creating another deck is somewhat of a pain. Instead of saving my current one and then being able to "make" a new one, and add cards to that, i'm forced to only add cards to that one slot. I'd love to see more deck slots.

@Gaka, the idea of adding a mulligan option was addressed on the game's thread and it seemed like it's not necessary in this game.

If you are going to penalize the player with a loss, then you should probably skip the "back to main" screen entirely to save the player time. I was interested in seeing the special deck and suddenly noticed my score was down by several hundred and I had an extra 15 or so losses.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Every time you quit a match after you got to know who your opponent is you lose score and point. Otherwise you could just go back and forward until you play against whoever you wanted to... picking your opponent can be exploited in too many ways.

dimensional shield had a bug but it is now fixed: it should last 3 turns now. There are several ways to counter a dimensional shield deck, use destroy, or steal... or finish you opponent with spells (those are not blocked by that type of shield)
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Some other things to note:
1. Dimensional Shield is imbalanced. You can basically chain them together and never get hit.
2. Choosing a game and then clicking "back to main" awards you a loss without ever having playing.

@Zanzarino: The cancel thing should probably be adjusted so quantums aren't lost. In .4 are there even and spells that can you gain an effect from and then hit cancel?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
is dimenshional shield bugged? its supposed to last only 3 turns, but the comps always lasts till i day, way past 3 turns...
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I see... also.. i'd like something useful to happen if you go second, because as it is now, the starting player has a major advantage over the second one. A draw or something would balance it more.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
That "error" is intended, it keeps player from abusing the cancel function. I know you are not one of them, but there is always someone trying to get at least part of the card effect, cancel, and re-use it.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Entertaining, but a major error - If you click firebolt, then hit cancel, even though you didnt use the spell, you still lose 3 fire quantams..

But that is what makes it more strategic is having to win with the cards that you are dealt with. You have to create a deck where luck is in your favour i.e keeping hold of a minimum amount of elements and cards means you got a better chance of getting what you want into play.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@icecue7 it is based on luck because it all depends on the cards you get. there isn't enough "helper" cards to make it strategy-based

Just beat a top 50 who was playing otyughs and a fire deck. I stole his fire wall, killed his dragons with my parasites, and killed him with like three Chrysoara that just kept stacking him up on poison. Take that everybody who thinks that only aether, fire, and otyughs can win! This is posted about 10 minutes after my last comment
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I have done quite well with a darkness deck that also uses quite a bit of death and water. Parasites and Chrysaora are the best cards with low costs, nova is an awesome first play, and dusk mantle halves all damage to you(in the form of attacks missing). Dragons are just plain awesome, but they are not the best cards. Only use a "steal" on an opponent's weapon or shield.

@Zanzarino: If you are correct, then I wonder why others haven't done the same. From EA's point of view, it may be a tool intended only for the creation of creatures for Spore or for the publicity of Spore.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@travcm: I am not "stealing" images from sporepedia or using any part of the spore game, the images you see in the game are made for the game by a group of artists that use spore as a TOOL. The Last time I checked the copyright belongs to the artist, not to the company that created the tool: The copyright of this game is mine and not property of Adobe, or Macromedia. Even though I did use Macromedia flash to create it.

Anyone that thinks this game is based on luck sucks at deck building. Though to be fair there is a ton of luck in choosing your starting colour the first time you play as some colours do quite suck.

Wow I got pretty lucky. The game glitched hardcore and I would automatically win any battle I entered. Then I got double coins for winning with full HP, and every time I spun the slots I would get a blank card with a coin value of NaN, and if I sold one, I could buy as many cards as I wanted :D
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
this game is based on luck. there is no skill involved. Also, the cards in the shop are too expensive. how are you supposed to get 106 coins for the dragons?

@zanzarino - hi, is not working again.. is getting back again - each time i login is getting the same earlier score - i don't think is only for 10min because i played for 2-3 hours.. i'll just sent a screenshot again in the bug report
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Now that I have 100 wins and 50 losses, I've become more familiar with the cards and such. I think previous comments have captured the power of the Otyugh...they really keep the game (against the AI) pretty easy.

My server have been down for about 10 minutes today, during that period of time the auto-save requests have been ignored. It should be fine now.

@zanzarino - hi, my account are always getting to the same earlier score and stats of a few hours ago - each time i login it go back to the earlier stats .. i just sent a screenshot of that situation in the bug report
