It's been a great (11?) years on the site as someone who played the games frequently without an account. It's a shame that it appears the site is downsizing but I still appreciate all the fun I had on the website.

The people I would want to say thank you to are, for the most part, all already gone.
The ones who made the decision, and also the decision to handle it this way, probably don't deserve any thanks.

Thank you Kongregate team, sad to see an era end. I've been on this site for 9 years and spend many hours of harmless casual fun. You will be missed.

I feel sorry for all the devs working their butts out to get something going and now Kong just drops this. Hoping they get another platform for people, otherwise I know I'm not going to continue using it. R.I.P. old Kong, you'll be missed.

I won't thank the kongregate team, they have stumbled and fouled up every step of the way after Kongregate Beta was over. Remember when we just got like 10 badged games in like a year span back in like 2015 or 16? Remember how they killed the growth of the room chat communities when they made chat bar default to game chat instead of room chat? They've been crushing the life out of this community for 10 years while also failing to keep up with the times.

I started my account way back in 2007. RIP Kong. Shootorial was one of my first gamedev experiences.
All devs: make sure you put a new site people can find your games at in your profile. Newgrounds is the closest I've found to the Kongregate community

I would also recommend Armor Games and itch.io!

Fare thee well, Kongregate and Kongregators (chat rooms too). You will be missed.
Newgrounds and Armorgames might be next.
2020 is not done with us yet!

This was my favorite place for at least 10 or 11 years... Had more fun on these games overall I think than any triple-A title in that time. Dang man. Dang. The writing's been on the wall to anyone who experienced this site's hayday... but dang. Please pour one out for Greg. RIP.

The Greers cashed out at the right time lol, smart people. Anyway, thank you, Kong, for all the great years. It was good while it lasted.
My guess is the site will either eventually go down completely or it'll turn into an mmo-cash-grab-style hosting site exclusively, because that is where most of the money has been coming from lately (which of course won't work, because there won't be enough users left to peddle that rubbish to, once the rest of the site disppears). Either way, you will be remembered by at least one person the way you were in your heyday. I was hoping to make it to lvl 75 one day, but that doesn't seem likely. :D

Thanks to those who have made kongregate so enjoyable over the years: friends, and (former) staff. I've been here since the summer before high school. Now I'm 25 and will be starting grad school in the fall. It's crazy how time flies. Kong really won't be the same after this, but I'm glad I am able to still keep in touch with many people from over the years.
We made it to the end :D
edit: Went back and looked at my first posts...remember the time when over 4000 people posted on the forum in order to get into the Dinowaurs beta...crazy.

So long, and thanks for all the flash. It's been a great ride on Kongregate, and I've really enjoyed it. Thanks to everyone who has made this a brilliant experience.

Wow... This announcement came all of a sudden. I knew Kong was coming closer and closer to its end but handling it that way seems harsh. I was about to retire after having rushed to level 75 in the past month and then decided to stay a few more weeks, just to see how blocks would be implemented. At least, the end of Kong perfectly matches my new life, given that I won't be able to dedicate as much time to flash games as in the past.
That's the end of an era. Thanks for all the fun I had during all these nine years, fellow players, developers and support teammates. :-)

I'm gonna be really sad to see this place go, I hope Kongregate manages to stay afloat just in a more dormant state. I've had a lot of good years on this site.

I have so many questions - Like what about Kartridge, are they doing fine or?
So if theres no new games and no new badges and non-game rooms are being removed.... why not just shoot the Kong-site in the head.
Like the badges and the chatrooms are some of the most unique features on this site.
Im so fucking frustrated. Love all of your lovely kong-folks. Hope youre all doing okay.

I didn't expect the end to be this abrupt, but I guess everything has to stop eventually. Kongregate has been very valuable to me for the past 2-ish years or so, and I'm glad that I got to spend time here as a developer and player.
Goodbye!

I've been around on this site since 2009, back then I was just a kid looking to play some cool games but now seeing what was a large part of my childhood coming to an end is quite sobering...
So much in the world has changed and I'm sad to see this wonderful place slowly closing its doors. I hope the following announcements will help shed some more light on what exactly will be happening and more importantly I wish for the best for everyone that's worked on this small slice of the internet.
This website gave me an appreciation for the smaller games that most people may never see and gave me a love for game design that I don't think will ever truely die. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kongregate.
I do not wish to say goodbye but I am happy that you have stayed for so long.

I do have two questions:
1. Will this forum (1) be read only, or active?
2. Is there a list of the 20 games that will still have game chat?

I have been on the fourms since 2010.
This is the oldest account i have since then.
Since the fourms are no longer avaliable, this really is goodbye.
We've not had much fun and we have already left since i cant do much on the website anymore.
Fluffy liked to have fun, since losing Cleric she looked for more. Everything she did, i know she wouldnt do now.
Especially since her best friend is gone. Everything we've looked at in the past is gone or changed beyond what we know.
People thought that she was all of the accounts, since one of us cannot physically use that account, she technically was.
It's sad that we have nowhere else to go, but the one who used to own this account had left our group recently, We will wait for a chance for a new place.
A new era. Maybe.

It will most likely be games like Spellstone, Bit Heroes, Animation Throwdown, etc that keep their chats because those are games owned by this company now. There will probably be some popular games too, but that's my guess.
