Hi there,
I dont want to make another bitter topic though I understand very well why so many pop up recently. Instead of that I'd like to share some good and even great memories.
When I see what games are seen (or maybe better "wanted to be seen") as great successes for Kongregate, I am mostly suprised by the mentioned games. Titles like Animation Throwdown, Burrito Bison: Launcha Libre and the like seem more like a cash grab to me. Ofc there are passionate players who love these games, but personally I would make a very different choice.
I'm on Kongregate since 2008 and during this time there were some exceptional great games I will never forget. To me these are the titles that made me love the site as I just got to know them via Kong.
Feel free to share you personal choices of the best games you ever found on Kongregate.
--------------------------------------------
My most favourite genre is point & click, interactive fiction, detective games and the like. My top pick here are **exit/corners** and the **A Matter of Caos** series, both stand out due to their exceptional storytelling. Ofc there are many more great titles like **The Last Door**, **Trader of Stories** or **ZS - Dead Detective**. I still love some very odl titles like **The several Journeys of Reemus**, **The Visitor** and **A Small Favor**. There are also some more unconventional and funny games like **Johnny Rocketfingers** and **Fleeing the Complex**. I could go on much longer but will end with some honorable mentions like **Gods Assassin**, **Don't Escape**, **Morningstar**, **Myosotis**, **Bad Viking and the Curse of the Mushroom**,** Escape THE GAME**, **YFYIAR** and **no-one has to die**.
I also like CCG very much, but most of them tend to be extremely P2W. Still there were some exceptions and my best memories are connected to **Elements: The Game**, **Card Hunter**, **Mytheria**, **Spectromancer** and **The Necronomicon** (the last one mostly for it's theme and all the time I spent to achieve the impossible Badge). Maybe **Legacy of Heros** could be a worthwhile mention too, but it didn't live that long and I think it was pretty P2W as well.
Though it's not my most favourite genre, I played nothing as much as action plaformers as there always used to be plenty of them. Some were really great and even newer titles like **The Temple of the four Serpents** (and all other games by **Ferociter**) were outstanding to me. Most of my picks here are much older and caught my interest either by unusual game mechanics or the stories they told. These are games like **Portal: The Flash Version**, **Endeavor**, **The company of myself**, **The I of It**, **Last Legacy: Null Space**, **SHIFT**, **Vox Populi: Vox Dei**, **Heir** and the **Robot wants...** series. There so much many more, but I will end with honorable mentions like **Everybody Edits** (mostly for its outstanding creative community) and some very challenging titles like **Give up, Robot**, **Jumphobia** and **Focus**.
I'm not much into shooters, tower defenses and rpgs, but there are many titels and so I played them qite a bit. The classic **The Last Stand** was one of the first games I played here and I enjoyed most of the **Decision** series for some time. There were not many TDs I liked too much, but **Cursed Treasure**, **Onslaught2** (rip gaby :( ) and the **Creeper World** series really got me for some time. **Ghost Hacker** was pretty nice too.As for RPGs I enjoyed **Hack Slash Crawl** a bit and **Cardinal Quest 2** a lot. Although I know **Caravaneer** is seen as a must play I started it but never really get compelled to it.
Some games caught my heart when I was going for their Badges, especially when trying hard for the impossible Badges. **MoneySeize**, **Meatboy**, **Gravitee** and **Dolphin Olympics 2** were some I managed to obtain the impossible Badges, but I failed at **Armopheus+**, **Mission in Space: The lost Colony**, **Line Game**, **MAD: Mutually Assured Destruction** or **Frantic**.
Some games impressed me much by being very ... different. **Wonderputt **is a more usual one but exceptional beautiful. More unusual were titles like **Humbug**, **Blocks with Letters on,** **Tri-Achnid** or **IncrediBots** and **Fantastic Contraption**. There were so many unusual games but it's really hard to remember their names to find them right now.
-------------------------------
These are the games that come to my mind when I think about why I always loved Kongregate. It's a very incomplete list and I'm sorry for all the great games I didn't mention here. If you don't know a game, I highly recommend to check them out (if they are still around).
Please share your own memories. What are the games you found on Kong and will never forget? I'm really curious what are the most loved games for real.
Thank you for reading. It's time to dig out some evergreens :)
A game I've grown very fond of quite recently (as in four months ago) is **Clarence's Big Chance** by Pseudolonewolf. The creativity and care shown in this game is just something I'm really impressed with.
The story is simple enough, with your guy Clarence finally nailing a date after 35 years of being alone and needing to raise enough money for it. Mechanically, it's just another pixel platformer but the controls are tight and responsive. Zooming from screen to screen in a car while ramming everything in your path is unbelievably satisfying. However, how the game contextualizes the plot through its visuals and gameplay is where everything really shines.
You have your typical enemies and collectibles as per usual, but in the context of story, said enemies become a variety of absurd characters from citydwellers, corrupt law enforcement and even Clarence's own family, and the collectibles are the clothes for your date, gifts for your date, money to buy more gifts for your date, and a bunch of dating tips and advice. It makes Clarence look like a violent, greedy lunatic desperate to make his date right, even if it means he has to pretend to know everything about her based on stuff he found on the Internet. And this is just from making sense of the gameplay. By the time he actually gets to his date with all his preparations done, the scene for the best ending is unexpectedly heartwarming for the dark humor the game's world had at times.
It's just a great time all around, I'm glad to have experienced it even as late as I have.

Oh, and **The Visitor** series of point-and-clicks are also really special to me for being the games that got me to create an account on this site to earn their badges. They also happen to be really solid and straightforward horror point-and-clicks too.
[Diamond Hollow II](https://www.kongregate.com/games/Arkeus/diamond-hollow-ii) and [The Enchanted Cave](https://www.kongregate.com/games/DustinAux/the-enchanted-cave) are games that immediately come to mind. Had a lot of fun with those.

quoted so people can actually see it
even in the forum's dying moments, in the one topic which remains somewhat positive, the ᛋpam ᛋifter manages to make everyone's days miserable
***
on-topic:
in the early days, i spent a bunch of time playing tower defense games
the entire **gemcraft** series comes to mind
sure, at the age of about 12 (yes i registered before i should've, does it matter at this point though) i lacked the strategic skills required to actually complete any gemcraft games, but i enjoyed them immensely nonetheless
on the easier and more obscure end of the spectrum, **anti-td** was a game that, though simplistic and somewhat flawed, never failed to entertain young me
in a similar vein, **villainous** was really enjoyable too
a bunch of my favourite games i got to know from official tournaments, back when those were a thing
(as i was writing these words, i've just realized that those will never come back either, goddammit)
it was an awesome way to find new, hidden gems, such as the criminally underrated **nyos**, and rediscover games such as **canabalt** or **solipskier**
of course there are lots of rhythm games which i adore to this day
**the scgmd series and djmaniax** are badged games of that category which i'll probably never get bored of
of launcher-style games, **the learn to fly series** will always be my favourite (for both obvious reasons and not-so-obvious ones :p)
the first mmo i got into, and probably the only one i still remember fondly, is **dream world**
there was **remnants of skystone** but that unfortunately got the axe right when i was getting into it, which i'm *still* mad about
same goes for **backyard monsters** and **galaxy life**
oh sorry positivity positivity back on track
finally, of course, there's the eternally enjoyable **anti-idle: the game**
which i've stopped playing numerous times, but have always come back to at some point or the other
**Bart Bonte's games**, each and every one of them were unique and fun to play. Always looked forward to his next one and what twist he would have.
**Crusaders of the Lost Idols** is the game I play on a regular basis. I was introduced to the game from a BOTD, got hooked with the gameplay and was impressed with the developer support.
Other games have caught my eye from time-to-time, whether they be from a BOTD or a new game or a featured game, over my 9 years here.

Hej,
The games I started with on here : **Amophous+** still I game I like a lot and the frustrating **Zilch**.
Of course the **Mardek serie**. Unfortunately we now know that Mardek 4 will never ne on Kongregate.
The **Shift** games, love that concept.
**The several journeys of Reemus**, unfortunately it was stopped being published here long ago and **the visitor** and other zeebarf's games.
Another of the favourite Dev is MateuszSkutnik with the amazing **Submachine serie** and also **Cover Front**, his little gnomes games and escape games were also nice and fun.
The **Cactus Mc Coy serie ** is also great, with other games **Papa's "food"** fun for a while but repetitive sadly.
Lately, the games by VasantJ : the **medieval cop** serie was great.
I like the puzzle games, I would name **Picma**, **light-bot**, the **Bonte's games**.
I like escape games and other point and click, I would recommand **The last chapter**serie, dark stuff, the **Reincarnation** serie, the **ZS Dead Detective** one, **Anika's odyssey** which I replayed lately, **The darkside detective**, also an unfinished serie. The **Cube escape** games by RustyLake. **Alice is dead** has also sadly stopped here long ago, sadly because I loved it.
I'd name also some platformers like **Fancy Pants** and **Zombotron**, **Money Seize** because I have that damned 60-badge.
**Arcuz** was also I game game in my opinion, also **Music catch**, not sure where to classify that one.
There are a lot of games I forgot, some I didn't even bother to rate maybe.
... I have a favorites list with some outliers on it. I guess I'll list the games that DON'T have badges but still impressed me enough to get a heart, since they're far less likely to have been played.
[My First Quantum Translocator](https://www.kongregate.com/games/Rete/my-first-quantum-translocator)
[The Visit](https://www.kongregate.com/games/molkman/the-visit)

Definitely one of my favorite.
Dillo Hills II was another but it's a shame that game got hacked. The first version is just not the same.
I also am addicted to the Gemcraft Games. I'm not usually into tower defense games, but gameinabottle did a great job creating the Gemcraft Games. So much effort went into them!
I would add: (Im trying not to repeat games)
-[Mad Vlad II] https://www.kongregate.com/games/EddyParanoia/mad-vlad-ii-revamped a very old game which hasnt got badges but I consider it has a good plot, collectibles, intense boss fights
-Monster's Den games (1,2 and chronicles)
-Legend of the Void games (1 and 2, honestly I didnt like 3 too much as it looked like a totally different type of game)
-Elephant themed games from armor games
-Deep Sleep trilogy (Deep Sleep, Deeper Sleep, Deepest Sleep) by scriptwelder (A Small Talk At the back of beyond is interesting too)
-Exploit
-6,5 and 4 difference games (not much replayability, but fun and good art)
-NG rumble (obviously from a different portal, but it was fun to have a smash bros game for flash)
-5 minutes to kill yourself (funny game, there is one or 2 other of that series but not in kong), also Caesar's Day Off (just for the laughs)
-Socrates Jones: Pro philosopher (interesting concept and ideas thrown there, unfortunately there was no sequel)
-Legend Of Kalevala
-Slime Escape
-Epic Coaster
-Town Of Fears
-Proke
-The Splitting (part 1 and 2)
-Death Dice Overdose
-Mindscape
-Slayaway Camp
-Learn to Fly games
-VVVVVV (Sadly the full version isnt here)
-Hat wizard series
-Papa Louie (not the delivery ones, but the platformers: when pizzas/burgers/sundaes attack)
-Storm Wars
-Sonny games
-Godlimations games (amea, monster basement 1 and 2, vorago, flash bash and the trilogy trapped, pursuit and escape which idk why those last 2 arent published here)
-Arrival in hell (a 2 episode series, the first release was updated with better artwork/animation, it never received badges though I think it deserved)
-Greg games (Thousand dollar soul and god's assassin)
-Missed Messages (interesting game, and as someone commented I too didnt dare to try to find another ending after I could reach a good one)
probably there are more, those are some of the ones I remember or were on my badge list, but it's been nearly 15 years I play flash portal site games so probably Im missing a lot.
I've been here for a while and man this thread makes me nostalgic.
my own favorites:
Book of Mages II
Viricide
No One Has to Die
Book of Living Magic
The Fabolous Screech
last two have a special place in my heart due to uniqueness of the setting and just idk the feels I guess.

The Deep Sleep games; is this also the Dark Alice in Wonderland games? I liked those and forgot about them. And then there's these games I wouldn't normally play but wound up getting hooked on. I think they were called Submachine? There were several of them. There are so many good games here, some I found on my own, and some I found through the BOTD games. I can't believe this is happening. It royally sucks.
This was the site that introduced me to Zachtronics games, which spiralled off into their own genre I still get endless joy/frustration from known as Zach-likes.
Engineer of the people would be my favorite of the lot here, with Tile Factory being an example of one from another dev before the genre really took off. Lightbot is probably the best known one, but not the best of the lot if you ask me.
There are a few other gems I'd bring up, but others have already sang their praises. Amorphous+ will have a special place in my heart as my first ever impossible badge, though.
Edit to add: Tower of the Archmage! Can't believe I forgot that one. It's a roguelike where you make custom programmed spells using runes you find, I've not seen anything like it before or since.
Edit 2 electric boogaloo: Stop the Darkness. Very creative idea, if a little shallow.
I'm not sure if anyone has posted these yet but some of my personal favorites:
The Epic Battle Fantasy Series (especially 3-5)
NGU Idle (still going strong)
The Enchanted Cave series
And just so many other games that have defined and even redefined what some genres could be (I'm looking at you idle and upgrade tags). Its such a shame what kong is going to become, but lets remember what it was and all the hard work of the developers who made it that way.

Hej,
Yes, I forgot this one, I loved it, just the controls of the fox were great.
I see Nerbook games haven't been mentioned yet. Almost all of them are fun even if they feel like 5-day game jam sort of games.
Dead Maze was fun for me, though it lags like hell most of the time and the french dev team is probably dead.
Warlords: Rise of Demons.
Tower of the Archmage. I'm sad no one seems to talk about it. Super addictive. One of the best rouguelikes I ever played. A spell system I don't think I've ever seen anywhere else.
Sword Fight. Addictive Idling.
Undead Throne. Fun beat 'em up.
Rebuild 2. I hate how 3, the paid game, got a totally different artstyle.
Battle without End. Another addictive idler. Though the most efficient way to play it is boring. Thanks, iHaz for all the tips.
Pestilence Z. One of the earliest flash rpgs I played. There's some randomness to it, giving it a bit more replay value than some other rpgs.
DigitWars series. addictive war games, though somewhat grindy if you wanna make your champions superpowered and awesome. I really only started playing it because Kongpanions are innit.
There are 2 devs, whose games I can replay anytime and anywhere:
https://www.kongregate.com/accounts/undefined with his Arkandian series, especially those Arkandian Legends games (got 100% completion on every single game there)
https://www.kongregate.com/accounts/Conceptis with his puzzle games on almost every possible topic
Oh, let me add https://www.kongregate.com/games/berzerkstudio/heros-arms
Not everyone's cup of tea, but one of my favorite games played ever on kongregate, a grindable zelda-like game with lots of upgrades and items to get, and if you like, a path to becoming greatly overpowered :)
Also the **Upgrade Complete** games which brought me to making my account on kong in the first place. I still like replaying them.
