this site is totally fubar now. there is no point in even staying here anymore. play the games you want to play on sites that still allow uploading, and chat to your hearts content. the dumpster fire that *was* kongregate is no more, now it's just a rotting, festering corpse, strung up and made to dance by greedy businessmen. if you want to remember kongregate as a better site than what it was before it died, i say to never come back now that chat is dead. there isn't a community anymore. there isn't any support for anything anymore.

Where? I went to ArmorGames because people said they have chat. I have yet to find it. Comment sections, yeah, but I don't see a way to open a chat room or anything.

Armor Games did have a chat function applicable for a while, then they took it out because it ended up not being worth the resources to keep. They still got comments and forums, though, and have remained relatively unchanged since inception.

That's a shame.
At any rate, Kong chat is officially dead. If you go for the BOTD, you'll get kicked out of the room you were in and won't be able to get back now. You'll get, "You've been disconnected..." and you'll see the button to reconnect, but clicking on it doesn't do much. You'll just get "No Chat Rooms Found!" and a "...." line pulsating like it's in limbo trying to connect you. ^sigh^ Kong is dead.

There are still chat rooms for some games.
List I know of:
Tyrant Unleashed
NGU Idle
Mutilate-a-Doll 2
Synergism
Realm Grinder
Animation Throwdown
But several of those have few people and no one talking.
There's also a few others I just dont have a list written down, that have a lot of people still in them. Don't know how long that will last, though.

I will miss the golden days of kongregrate. I've only been here for 10 years, but it has been a glorious 10 years. RIP Kongregrate.com I have fond memories of you and I feel like I lost a companion.

And to think not even a 4 months ago I was planning on returning and buying a year's worth of Kong+.
Seems like a good thing now that I was OOC for a while. Still sucks that Kong got ripped apart though.

why add stickers and blocks that buy chat stickers, when you are going to remove all chats anyway? (except from 5 chat channels)
it seems very silly to me, imho.

I don't know the precise timeline, but basically they were practically done with that project by the time the buyout was final, and it was the new MTG management who made all of the cost-saving cuts. Basically, Kong has only a few titles that ever made any money, and MTG wanted to stop spending on all of the other stuff, especially since most of the "other stuff" was/is built in Flash, and was expected to be totally defunct in January.
