Hello! Welcome to the fifth GiTD of the year. First of all, sorry for this thread being delayed by a day... I've totally lost track of what day it is right now haha. Anyway without further ado, despite your best efforts to force a tie (as usual) it was blueprint #2 which won out this month, and it's quite an interesting one.

I know Noir itself isn't exactly a blueprintable item, but it is a pretty cool stylistic choice which I think could inspire some really cool ideas for games.
**"Your game must only use the colours: Black, White and Red" **
To clarify, your game must only use the three colours typically associated with the noir film style, which are black and white, with occasional flashes of red. Shades of grey (and dark red) are acceptable but for the most part your game should be black and white and red.
If you're unsure then i'd suggest taking a look at the [Sin City movies](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0401792/) for a great example to how the style looks.
# Rules
Entries that do not attempt to incorporate the chosen theme are appreciated, but not accepted for voting. You may only work on your game during the Game Development time (see above). If using an engine, try to create as many of your own assets as possible. If it is suspected that your entry was made by someone other than yourself, it will be placed under judgement and, possibly, disqualified. Using alts or inactive accounts to manipulate the competition or votes is prohibited. Vote rigging in any form will not be tolerated. Actively choosing not to vote in order to increase your own chances of winning is frowned upon and repeat offenders may have their games disqualified from that month's voting.
# Key Dates
Theme Reveal & Game Development Begins: Now!
Game Development Ends: May 23rd (Midnight in your local timezone)
Voting Period: May 24th Until May 31st
# Prizes:
First Place: 1 Year of Kong+ **AND** a Steam Key for a free copy of my new game's DLC
Second Place: 100 Kreds
(Kong+/Kred Prizes require atleast 2 entries submitted, a participant can only ever win a DLC key once)
As always this thread is open for everyone to discuss ideas, post their work in progress images and eventually share their entries ready for voting.
As always anyone who posts 3 seperate progress updates (on different days) in this thread will recieve a bonus point added onto their total after the votes have been tallied as we will also be voting for the "Most Creative Use of Theme" again.
Good luck! and I look forward to seeing your entries!

I've begun a street fighter style game. Fight the computer in 1 v. 1 combat. Hopefully with some nice comic book style graphics if my art skills permit.

Starting coding, I'm making a submarine game that swims around in darkness and have to shoot a sonar to detect where the enemies are.

That sounds very cool and like a great use of the theme.

So does this! Can't wait to see it. I'm already imaging the sonar ping itself as the only red thing illuminating the blackness with a trail of white

Never made a story based game, but I'm gonna try now.
Edit: Also gonna try to spend some time planning everything instead of just going in head first
Edit2: made a new account since I'm much better at making games now :P

*It always seemed to rain when R. Shark was on duty.*
*A mere coincidence, like many other things about the detective, but it did help with the whole mystery routine.*
*Like the fact that somehow, in all those years, we never learned their first name.*

Hey! Got some decent progress on my game so far. Almost done with the tutorial lol. I'll post a screenshot showing some progress! I couldn't post full screenshots of the game cus it'll be too big, so I did some cuts with the most important info :)
- top left is your character hiding
- top right is him using his eagle eye to scout out for the target
- bottom left is the target chasing you, because he saw you (look at bar above your head)
- lastly bottom right is him doing a grapple hook.

*When it comes to rockets, missiles, and the like, you might expect to be able to expect explosions at one point or another.*
*But tonight it was detective R. Shark who [ended up exploding](https://twitter.com/dashrava/status/1261524736170999808) instead, after placing their trust on physics.*

I won't be going further than this though. I had fun but the physics got too wonky once again to make anything coherent with it. Plus I'll be playing Terraria update for most of the jam.

Made some more progress! Added the hub room where you select your mission to carry out. Planning on 15 total! White equals incompleted, grey equals completed, amd red equals mastered (more on that later). Completing missions/mastering missions, will unlock more missions (you start with 3 unlocked missions).

Things are working, graphics look pretty good. Now I'm trying to make it interesting rather than just functional.
