Creating this thread in response to the question about increasing max level of skills and its effects on perk point gain. It got me thing if perk point gain shouldn't be tied to xp gain in general as well as kills in combat possibly because perk gain stagnates late game and it would be nice to see some regular point gain at later levels. Just starting the thread to see if people like the current system, would be interested in something like this, or have their own idea.

Changing the system would require such a balance overhaul that I don't think the dev will be interested in going there without immense pressure from the players.
Also, the way the system currently works is fine for me because it seems like every new iteration I get a few more perks points than I did before, making it so that at first I needed to be very strategic with my spending, while now that I'm getting further in the game, I can relax a bit a spend perk points in riskier ways in order to try new things. The spiriting / summoning levels up very slowly for me and doesn't contribute much in terms of perk points, so that might make things more difficult when the more expensive new perks are unlocked.
