base dmg is actually bugged, it doesn't improve our damage unless we have base damage upgrades made by forge (it also might only boost the damage bonus from those upgrades and not the actual base received from str+atk).
Just try applying the card before you craft anything at the start of an asension and you'll see what i mean.
