I finally got to Mountain, but it takes some time to go there again.... Should i always ascend after i hit mountain or try longer runs?

It depends. For some stuff, longer ascensions are better; currently I'm trying to do the contracts and some of them require a lot of playtime without ascending (enemies killed total, which does not carry over through ascensions, and of which the later ones require millions of kills), but there were times when I just went for quick ascensions where I basically did it a few times in a day because that seemed to have been better for getting AP.
