Hate this minigame so much. If I wanted to do this bs timing crap, why would I be playing an idle game? Everything else in the secret arenas was discovery, analysis, and maybe a little intuition or luck. This reflex junk just makes me mad.

Remember that it's something for what you can earn Gems every day. I can only agree with the fact that there is a pet only obtainable by playing that mini-game (that's what wiki Guide says). I'm stuck at 59 pets for a while.

Am I right that it caps at 25 gems? I have gone well above 40, and it doesn't seem to award my any more than about 12-15, which seems enough to get 25.

Yes, 25 is the max Gems you can get from Hoops.

Yes, but you have to get a good total score to get 25 Gems. The clock resets every 24 hours after you got the Gems (the time is shown at top right corner).

If you have a candy card from the fall event, upgrade that. That will allow you to passively get more gems from the mini game
