Realm of the Mad God Guide – BlackAbyss’s Guide to EVERYTHING that is RotMG
Pretty much everything in this guide can be found @ [www.RealmEye.com](http://www.RealmEye.com), but I spent
a lot of time putting all of the information I have stored in my head from years
of gameplay into this guide… so please take the time to read this guide then
go take a look a the website.
_I’ve spent a lot of time on this guide for no real reason other than I really want to help newcomers and those who are struggling to become better with a detailed guide that covers nearly everything about the game. Feedback is greatly appreciated. Please feel free to post on the thread or message me in game for help or even gear… I’m a pretty generous person. Simply enter a server and type in→ “/tell BlackAbyss I need help!” or something like that. I’m on almost every weekday anytime from 10am-9pm central time._
(As of 5/31/14)I currently have a Knight with Skysplitter, MithSheild, Vengence, and ParaHP… I always give away or feed any drop that I receive that is worth 1 Defense or less when I have a character like this with gear that is worth roughly 2 Life. So PM me in game and I will have something to give you (more likely than not). He has about 50 defense right now and I don’t forsee myself dieing with him anytime soon. (Remember, just because you ask does not mean you shall receive, and if you bug me consistently I will probably ignore you!)
ALSO: YOU CAN PURCHASE CLOTH AND DYE TO CUSTOMISE YOUR
CHARACTER RIGHT NOW! I’M SURE THIS IS A LIMITED TIME OFFER, SO IF YOUHAVE A SPARE 125 FAME OR MORE GO STOCK UP ON YOUR DYES ANDCLOTHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This guide will attempt to cover everything that I believe is
important in becoming a seasoned RotMG veteran. I will be going over
classes and their abilities, monsters and tricks to taking them on,
prices of items, how to effectively max stats, pets and how to level
them effectively, the importance of pets and their abilities, dungeons
and which ones I recommend that you attempt taking on, how to effectively
acquire xp as well as fame, how to achieve level 20 as well as how to acquire
gear, and a rough overview of the trading system and much much more.
Before I begin going into detail about everything there’s something you
need to know. In RotMG, there are a three very important skills you are going
to have to develop through gameplay.
1. DODGING, the most important skill of the game, if you can’t dodge
enemy attacks… You will die… ALOT!
2. Learn to PLAY IT SAFE, watch your HP at all times and avoid getting
into risky situations. Don’t take on more than you can chew, and don’t
try some of the more challenging dungeons and boss monsters until you
are ready.
-I recommend watching a video on a dungeon or boss monster
before you decide whether or not you think you can handle it.
-Cube Gods, Skull Shrines, Ocean Trenches, Tomb of the Ancients,
Dragon’s Eye, Penteracts, Candy Lands, Crystals, Dead Water Docks,
Wine Cellars, Oryx’s Castle, Avatar of the Forgotten Kings, Shatters,
and Lord of the Lost lands are prime examples of Dungeons and Bosses
that you should NOT take on without prior knowledge of their attacks
unless you want to DIE. I’ve had to learn the hard way many times
before knowing when my character has the stats and gear neccessary
to even attempt taking them on.
3. Learn to accept DIEING. This might be the second most important skill you
will have to develop. Everyone dies in RotMG, it is part of the game.
When you drop to 0HP you lose your character. If you can’t handle
losing a character that you’ve poured hours or even days of gameplay into
then this is not the game for you. I have died dozens if not hundreds of times
and have quit playing alot… but this game has a way of always making you want to come back for more.
I will try to give detailed instructions how become a skilled player from
square one, starting at the tutorial and working your way to maxing stats and
clearing some of the more complex and difficult dungeons the game has to offer.

**1.0 – The Tutorial**
When you first begin playing, on either the RotMG official website or
Kongregate, you will start out in the tutorial. This is simply to give you an
idea of how to play the game. It will teach you things like how to move, how
to fire your weapon, how to use your special ability, how to dodge attacks, how
to equip items, and how to defeat enemies such as chickens and the Chicken God.
Reach the end of the tutorial and you will find a portal to the Nexus.
**1.1 – The Nexus**
Once you navigate your way to the end of the tutorial you will be able to
enter the Nexus. The Nexus is where you will be trading, begging for starter
equipment, entering the vault, guild hall, and pet yard, changing servers,
renouncing your guild, buying items with real life money such as dungeon keys, pet
eggs, high tier equipment, cloth and dye for giving your character a unique look,
and some other misc. items. The Nexus is also where you will find the realms, the
portals that let you enter the area where you will probably be spending the most
of your gameplay (unless you are someone who prefers to sit in the Nexus buying
and selling items).
**1.2 – The Realms**
The Realms are brown caves in the north side of the Nexus. They are named
after Gods of the Realm, which are some of the more powerful monsters that the gamehas to offer. Names such as Djinn, Cyclopse, Medusa, and Beholder. Once you enter one of them you will spawn on a beach in the outer most reaches of the map. The weakest monsters are located here, and this is where you are going to begin gaining XP. You will find monsters such as Pirates, Cubes, Bandits, Scorpians, and Crabs out in this area. They each give a relatively small amount of experience.
**1.3 – Quests**
You should see a red box on your screen that has the picture and name of a
monster in it. This is what will be recommended for you by the game to kill. The
picture will be of a stronger monster than most, and will usually be leading a
gang of weaker followers. I suggest you go around getting familiar with each monster, following quest objectives, and start developing the three skills I mentioned in the beginning of the guide. Dodging, playing it safe, and learning to accept the loss of your character.
**1.4 – Character Classes and Gear**
There are a wide variety of classes to choose from, each with their own
special ability, sets of gear that they can equip, and different stat caps. I
won’t go into detail about all of them, I suggest you play the game and figure out
which class suits you best. However, I will tell you which classes you should start
with as well as the pros and cons of some classes.
When you start, the only class available will be the Wizard. This does not
mean the Wizard is the worst class in the game. In fact, alot of players who have
unlocked all of the classes still decide to play the Wizard. This is because of a few
things. For starters, the Wizard is a high DPS class, meaning they do alot of “Damage
Per Second”. They have a high Dexterity Cap, which allows them to shoot very fast, and they have a special ability that when utilized properly, can lead to a huge damage output. They also weild staves and have a long attack range allowing the Wizard to attack from a safe distance. The drawbacks are that this class has a low Health Cap as well as low defense and no healing ability. You will be relying on your ability to avoid damage, HP potions, health regen (Vitality), and your Pet’s Heal ability for survivablity.
After you reach level 5, you will be able to unlock a couple more classes. I
believe the Archer and Preist are unlocked. These two classes are very popular, and
for good reason. The Archer is a bow weilder with a medium attack range and will
eventually be able to shoot up to 3 projectiles at once with the right bow, as well
as each projectile having the ability to shoot through multiple enemies at once,
allowing you to kill multiple enemies with a single arrow. The Archer is also a
leather wearer, meaning it will have relatively high defense when compared to those
classes which wear robes such as the Preist.
The Preist has the ability to heal himself and those around him, but does
very little damage compared to most other classes. Although, the preist is a wand
user and as such has the greatest attack range of any other class.
Eventually you will unlock the Rogue. The Rogue is a very special class
requiring quite a large ammount of skill. They will be able to rush a majority of
dungeons very quickly and solo nearly any boss in the game simply because of their
ability. The Rogue is able to cloak himself, turning invicible for a set period of
time, making any monster unable to fire directly at him. The Rogue also is one of
the few classes with a 75 Dex Cap, meaning he shoots VERY FAST. Although if you are looking for more DPS, you might want to choose the Assassin, simply because he hasa higher Attack Cap and he gets a poison ability that allows him to do a little
extra damage over time.
Another type of class you will unlock are the sword weilders Warriors,
Paladins, and Knights. They are able to do the highest weapon damage, but their
attack range is very short. Melee classes are probably the toughest class to learn
to use simply because of how close they have to get to their enemy in order to do
damage. They also move slower than most of the other classes. Althogh, they do become the most heavily armored classes in the game. They are able to equip the strongest defensive gear in the game such as the Candy Coated Armor which gives 30 defense at the cost of -10 dexterity. Warriors and Knights are also the only classes in the game which are given defense stats on their abilities. A T5 Warrior Helm Ability gives +10 Defense. You might not think that’s much now, but once you add it together with +25 defense from drinking stat increasing potions, +9 defense from an Unbound Defense ring, and 30 defense from a Candy Coated Armour, it makes the Warrior very difficult to kill as he would have 74 defense. This doesn’t protect you from armour peircing bullets that is indicated by damage with a purple font such as damage dealt by the White Demons.
That isn’t the highest defense you can acheive though. All classes have a 25 base defense cap, meaning they can all get a bonus 25 defense simply from drinking stat increasing potions. All classes that is, aside from the Knight. The Knight has a max defense cap of 40! When you add it together with the best equipment in the game, he can reach over 90 overall defense! Making him almost impossible to kill in the hands of a skilled player.
I do however recommend that if you are starting out, you should try to unlock the Necromancer. He does average damage at a pretty far distance, and also has an awesome healing ability. His skull ability allows him to do a grenade style attack that sucks the health of all the enemies caught within the blast. He can heal his entire health bar with one attack if enough enemies are standing in one area.
**1.5 – Buying and Selling Items**
If you want to get better items you have to either find them by killing monsters, boss monsters, dungeon bosses, and Gods of the Realm or by trading items for them. If you want to buy or sell items, you will probably want to go to a Nexus on a populated server such as USWest. I will say that it isn’t worth trying to trade or sell low tier equipment. Players generally only buy weapons and armor that is only tier 9 or above as well as abilities and rings that are above tier 3.
A list of such items may include the following; Staff of Necrotic Arcana (t9), Staff of Diabolic Secrets (t10), Staff of Astral Knowledge(t11), Staff of Cosmic Whole(t12), Robe of the Shadow Magus(t9), Robe of the Moon Wizard(t10), Robe of the Elder Warlock(t11), Robe of the Grand Sorcerer(t12), Drake Hide(t9), Roc Leather(t10), Hippogriph(t11), Griffon(t12), Verdent Bow(t9), Bow of Fey Magic(t10), Blood Bow(t11), Bow of Covert Havens(t12), Ragetalon(t9), Emerald Shard Dagger(t10), Dagger of Foul Malevolence(t12), DragonScale Armour(t9), Desolation Armour(t10), Vengeance Armour(t11), Abyssal Armour(t12), DragonSoul Sword(t9), Archon Sword(t10), Sky Splitter Sword(t11), and Sword of Acclaim(t12). This is not a complete list of all the gear that people will buy and sell but it contains the majority of equipment you will be trying to obtain or trade for other items.
**1.6 – The Currency**
Unlike most other games, gold is not the form of currency you will be using to buy items. Instead, you will be trying to buy, sell, and trade with potions. No, that does not mean you can get items from giving players HP and MP potions. Stat increasing potions is what you will be using as a currency. Potions of Dexterity, Speed, Wisdom, Vitality, Defense, Attack, Mana, and Life are what most players are trying to get their hands on. When you drink these potions, your stats will increase permanently corresponding to the potion that you drank.
I will try to give a rough estimate of what the potions are CURRENTLY worth as of
05/01/2014. Potions of Dexterity, Speed, Wisdom, and Vitality are currently worth the least. You can trade roughly 2-3 of each for one potion of Defense. Potions of Attack are worth slightly more than Defense. You can trade roughly 2 potions of attack for 3 potions of Defense. Potions of Mana are worth the second most, you can trade one potion of Mana for roughly 4 potions of Defense. Potions of Life are worth the most, you can sell a potion of Life for anywhere from 5 to 7 potions of Defense, depending how long you are willing to wait while selling or how lucky you are. Most "Tops" are worth one life or more apeice with the Sword of Acclaim being worth the most at 4 potions of Life.
\*1.7 - Equipment Prices\*
Tier 9 weapons and armour usually sell for 0.5 defense, meaning you can buy nearly any tier 9 weapon or armour for a single potion of speed, wisdom, dexterity, or vitality. Tier 10 weapons and armour usually sell for 1 defense potion. Tier 11 weapons and armour can be bought for 2-3 potions of defense. Tier 12 weapons and armour can be bought for 1-3 potions of life. Tier 4 abilites are usually sold for 0.5 Defense, T5 for 1 Defense, t6 for a life. Tier 4 Rings are usually sold for 0.5-2 Defense depending on the type of ring and the current supply and demand. T5 HP and Defense rings are usually sold for a Life. T6 Rings are currently selling for around 6-8 Life.
\*1.8 - Where to find Stat Increasing Potions\*
The easiest way to obtain stat increasing potions, aside from recieving them as gifts from other players, is to teleport to the center of the map. To do so, simply zoom out your minimap by clicking one of the up/down arrows in the corner. After that, find a player that is already there indicated by a white dot and click it. An option should appear allowing you to teleport to that player's position. Once you have done so, you will probably find yourself in the battlefield of the godlands. This is a seriously dangerous place, you should only attempt going here once you are procificent at the three skills stated in the beginning of the guide. Also, you should be at least level 15 with a t8 weapon or better. You will know you are at the godlands when you find yourself in a grey wasteland occupied by lava and hundreds of dangerous monsters called Gods of the Realm, creatures that are able to kill a level 20 within 5-10 hits.
\*1.9 - The Godlands\*
Once you are here, try following other players around to get a feel for how they kill these dangerous beings. If you manage to kill a few, you might get lucky enough to recieve a special Blue Potion Bag as a drop! Or perhaps even some useful t8 equipment and t4 rings or abilities. You could also recieve a brown satchel that contains a pet egg! I'll go over the use of these later in the guide.
The names of the Gods are as follows; Djinn, Medusa, Leviathon, Ghost God, Beholder, Flying Brain, Sprite God, Slime God, Ent God, and Beholder. Djinn and Medusa drop potions of Speed.
I have a few tips for killing the Gods, but you will need to experience fighting them yourself in order to really get a feel of how to kill them effectivly without taking too much damage.
Djinn is probably the easiest god to kill, it is a blue coloured spirit that fires
dozens of little white projectiles in all directions. It has the lowest HP of all the gods,
and isn't too hard to take down. Simply find a safe spot close enough to fire at it and
wait for it to become vulnerable. He drops potions of speed
Medusa is easily one of the most dangerous gods to fight. She looks like a snake humanoid with green hair that can do alot of damage in a short ammount of time, but if you know how to handle her she's as easy to kill as they come. She fires green projectiles in front of her as well as a red grenade style attack that does huge area damage. Walk around her in circles while firing at her, she will attack where you were making it very easy to avoid. Just make sure you don't attract the attenting of other gods by running too close to them or you might get overwhelmed. She drops potions of Speed.
Ghost God is a white ghost that fires high damage white projectiles in front of him. Just avoid them and get close enough to attack, you'll be fine. It drops a potion of Speed
The Beholder is a giant eyeball that fires high damage white projectiles in all
directions. Avoid them, which isn't that difficult at all, and you'll kill it with ease. It drops potions of Defense
The Flying Brain is a pinkish squid looking thing that fires high speed low damage purple projectiles in all directions. Simply side step occasionly to avoid the projectile that's aimed straight at you and get close enough to do damage, get lucky enough and you might get a potion of attack!
The Ent God looks like a tree the fires 5 projectiles doing roughly 80 damage each towards the front of him. It's a hard god to take down if you have little defense and cannot tank him, but if you know the trick, it is a relatively easy god to fight. What you have to do is go in one direction and right before he fires... move sharply in the opposite direction. If you have done it right he will have missed you by quite a bit allowing you to get close enough to deal some damage and take him down for the chance at a defense potion.
The Slime God looks like a pile of mud and shoots 5 projectiles out the front of him doing a little more damage than the Ent god. He also shoots a green projectile that will slow you for a while. To fight, simply repeat the process of dodging his attack like you would for the Ent god by moving in one direction and moving the opposite way right before he fires. He also drops potions of defense.
The Leviathon is a blue and white water dragon looking creature that moves in a zig zag pattern making him very hard to hit. That's not the biggest problem, although. He also fires dozens of projectiles in multiple directions showering his target with bullets. There is no easy way to fight him without being able to tank his attack with overpowering defense. You must fight him for yourself and move in his blind spot avoiding his attack. He also
drops potions of defense
\*2.0 - How to Quickly Level to 20\*
Starting with level one, you might want to ask around in the Nexus for a starter
weapon. You might not come across any generous players though, but keep in mind that having a weapon better than tier 0 isn't really needed to build your way up to getting more advanced gear. Almost always after defeating quest monsters such as the hobbit mage a pink bag drop with low tier equipment in it will drop. You won't always find something that you can use, but keep at it and eventually you will find a gear set for your class. As you find better gear, you will be able to make your way towards the center of the map. Try to stay away from the night elves and dwarves close to the godlands, they aren't the most powerful monsters but will easily kill even a level 20 with high tier gear quickly if they aren't cautious. Although, if you manage to get skilled enough to defeat them without getting yourself killed you will be able to get quick xp.
Once you are able to kill enough monsters and complete enough quests to get you to level 15, you might want to try heading to the godlands. Teleport to a group of level 20's near the center of the minimap and follow them around. If you stay roughly a screen behind them, you will be able to get experience without having to fight the gods yourself. At level 1, you only get 5xp per god kill and will die within 2 hits... So I don't recommend simply teleporting to the godlands right when you die to get quick exp. It is much more effective to complete quest objectives until you gain a few levels first. I'm pretty certain once you reach level 7 you will have enough health to take 4-5 hits without dieing, and you will get 65xp per god kill.
If you find a populated server you might come across a "fame train". This is a large group of players in the godlands following eachother killing gods extremely quick for the sake of gaining xp and fame. If you find one of these, you will be able to level from 7-20 in no time. Also, if you are a class that has an ability that can damage multiple enemies at once you might be able to get some "SB damage".
SB damage is doing enough damage to a monster to get a soul bound bag drop. I'm pretty certain in order to get a soulbound drop (purple, blue, cyan, or white bag), you need to do at least 15% of the damage to a monster. If you are a sorcerer, for example, all you need to do is use his sceptre ability once or twice to get sb damage to 7-8 monsters at a time allowing you to get many soulbound drops very quickly! The sorcerer is one of the last classes to be unlocked, but they aren't the only class that can use this method of recieving drops effectivly. The Wizard ability can also farm gods for SB drops very quickly, just use his ability once or twice in a group of gods and you will qualify for a SB drop instantly. After you use the ability there's nothing you can do aside from having luck be on your side.
Actually I might have been mistaken in the previous sentence. I am almost 100% positive that having more players be eligible for SB drops on a single monster will allow greatly increased chances of recieving a SB drop. Back in the day, people used to cheat by having multiple characters follow their main character around through the use of third party software. They would have those characters do slight damage to a boss or god which would allow them to have a much higher chance at recieving potions, high tier, and untiered equipment. I think this tactic is called "multi-boxing". I am also aware that this tactic is used in the World of Warcraft PvP system. Players would make 4 Elemental Shamans follow 1 Restoration Shaman or something like that. The 4 ele shams would use an attack at the same time on a single enemy killing him/her instantly while the resto sham healed them. I saw this being used in battlegrounds as well as arenas.
\*2.1 - Obtaining Fame\*
Fame is obtained in the same way that you obtain experience. The more experience a monster is worth the more fame you will get for killing it. When you first level to 20 and have a low amount of fame you get 1 fame per 2-4 god kills (roughly) along with 1 fame per 100 kills of any monster. The only way you can cash in your fame is to die, sadly. There are ways you can obtain a % of extra fame to add onto your base fame. These are called bonus fame and I will list a few of them now. The easiest bonuses to obtain are "Well Equipped" for having x% on your equips such as 6% from having a Cloak of the Planewalker equipped. There is also "Friend of the Cubes" for having about less than 5% of your total kills having been from cubes. Another fame bonus is "Accurate, Sharpshooter, and Sniper" from having 25, 50, or 75% of your shots not missing. So if you have your autofire on the entire game, you aren't going to receive this fame bonus. There's also the "Enemy of the Gods" bonus which is having 10% or more of your kills be gods such as Medusa or Septavious. A few more that you can look up are Thirsty, Mundane, Feet on the Ground, Doer of Deeds, Tunnel Rat, Cartographer, and First Born.
\*2.2 - Pets\*
Probably the most important use of fame is leveling and fusing your pets. A pet is dropped in an egg basket from almost any monster that also drops potions. A few types of pets are feline, automotron, woodland, exotic, avian, ????, aquatic, canine, and penguin. Each pet has one starter ability such as Heal, Magic Heal, Decoy, Electric, Rising Fury, or Savage, and 2 extra abilities that they will unlock once they reach Uncommon and Legendary. In order to fuse pets you need to have 2 pets of the same rarity and family. For instance if you have two uncommon avian pets, a pet yard that has been upgraded to allow that tier of fusion, and enough fame (1,000 in this case) you can fuse them into a rare avian pet that looks entirely different from the common/uncommon version and also unlocks it's second ability. Most players try to find a pet that has Heal, Magic Heal, and Electric abilities (in that order). In my opinion that is the best possible order that those abilites can be in. Heal will act as extra vitality, healing you for a set amount periodically. Magic heal is the same as heal, but instead of health it restores magic acting as extra wisdom. Electric will stop your enemy from being able to move for a set ammount of time such as the paralyze ability from the Archer's Gold Quiver or Hunter's Coral Trap. It is in your best interest to level up your pets to the maximum before fusing. This is because as your pet reaches highers tiers, it will cost a lot more fame to feed them. At common the max level is 30. At uncommon the max is 50. I haven't maxed a rare, legendary, or divine pet, but I'm pretty sure the max level keeps going up by 20. When you fuse a maxed pet and an unmaxed pet of the same tier, the levels of your new pet will turn out to be the average levels of both pets combined. For instance, if you fuse a level 30 with a level 1, your new pet will have roughly level 15. It costs 10 fame to feed a common and 30 to feed an uncommon. So It is essential to MAX YOUR PET before fusing. Unless you just want a pet that is only for looks. The highest level your pet can obtain is 100. With 100 Heal and Magic Heal your pet will heal 90 health and 45 magic very frequently. I've heard someone with a pet that has 100 Heal can stand in lava without ever dieing.
\*2.3 - Dungeons and their Bosses\*
Once you manage to hit level 20 and aquire an average set of gear, tier 7 or higher for a weapon/armour, then you will be tempted to taking on a dungeon or two. Start by getting yourself familiar with how a dungeon works by taking on an easy one or two. This includes the pirate cave, spider den, or forest maze. None of those dungeons drop anything of real interest aside from pollen powder and healing ichors, but they will get you used to working your way through a maze and being able to take on dozens of enemies in tight quarters. After you get a feel for the dungeon system, you might want to try asking for a partner to help you take on one of the more challenging dungeons such as Sprite World, Undead Lair, or the Snake Pit.
\*2.3a - Sprite World (SW) - Dex\*
The Sprite World portal looks like white nexus portal, and is dropped by destroying the little white pixels floating around a purple Sprite God. Once you go inside, your mind will probably start to trip out a little. Sprite World is a multicoloured land of trees, sprites, and conveyer belts that look like something out of a bad trip. To make your way to the boss, follow the red quest box passed the weak sprites which only do about 7 damage apeice to a giant platform near the center of the dungeon.
In the middle you will find Limon, the dungeon boss and the king of the Sprites. He moves very quickly in weird patterns that make him very hard to attack until he stops moving. He will fire three red projectiles at a time while he's moving that do roughly 60 damage each. He is also invulnerable to damage for periods of about 5 seconds at a time (as indicated by a blue sheild over his head). He will eventually stop moving and lay down a bunch of white pixels that are called Limon Turrets. These will surround himself in a box created out of bullets which will lock you either inside or outside the turrets. After the turrets start firing, he will begin shooting at you with his red projectiles which aren't that difficult to dodge. Side step the bullets while firing at him and avoiding the Limon Turret attack and eventually you will beat him, earning a dexterity potion with nearly a 100% drop rate. He also drops white bags on occasion containing either Staff of Extreme Prejudice or a Cloak of Planewalker. A good tactic for beginners is waiting on the edge of the platform out of his line of sight while he is moving. He will stop and fire in all directions allowing you time to heal or wait for him to spawn Limon Turrets. Once he spawns the turrets, run inside them (or stand outside the turrets if you have a wand class than can reach him while outside the turrets) and deal quick damage while dodging his attacks. Wait until the turrets dissapear and repeat the process.
\*2.3.b The Undead Lair (UDL) - Wis\*
The Undead Lair is the next dungeon I will go over and is home to the boss Septavious the Ghost God. The dungeon portal is dropped by Ghost Gods in the Godlands and looks like a grey cave with a black entrance. Once you enter you will find yourself in an entirely grey and dim lair. It is almost the complete opposite of Sprite World in terms of appearence. There are only two or three enemies that you really need to worry about in here. For starters watch out for the enemies that look like grim reapers. They wear black cloaks and shoot projectiles that do relatively high damage. They also shoot projectiles that will quiet you reducing your manato zero and disabling you from regenerating it for a short amount of time. They also shoot projectiles that can slow you. This is very dangerous considering you won't be able to run away from their attacks very easily. Simply avoid their two special attacks while either running backwards or in circles around them. The next enemy you have to worry about are the golems that shoot multiple directions from their front along with a special attack that will confuse you. Another enemy you need to worry about and probably the most annoying are the black and brown slimes. They have considerable attack range and do large ammounts of damage. Every character fears dieing to theseslimes and extreme caution is neccessary in dealing with them. They divide into smaller slimes when destroyed, much like the green slimes of the outlands. The last enemy you need to worry about are the ghosts that shoot both highd amaging projectiles and grenades much like Medusa. You can easily defeat them by running around them in circles and avoiding their grenade attacks however. There are also traps scattered around the dungeon that will trigger when you walk near them. They will fire many high damaging projectiles in all directions, and if you are closeenough to the trap when it fires you can easily get shotgunned dieing instantly.
It is an easy dungeon to rush through if you are using a Rogue, simply run through the dungeon while avoidingenemy fire and using your cloak to run through the slime rooms and when you get overwhelmed by too many enemies. Onceyou reach the end of the dungeon you will find yourself face to face with the boss Septavious.
Septavious is not a boss to be taken lightly, but can easily be soloed by any character once you are able tofamiliarise yourself with his attack patterns. The first attack he will use is firing many white bullets in a spiralpattern along with summoning many weak light blue minions. The bullets he fires are armour peircing and will do 75 damage to any character or class regaurdless of their armour. A good technique to use is running between the bullets around Septavious in circles making sure not to run into the bullets. The minions will follow you around while you damage him and them. Eventually he will become invulnerable and start firing tiny bugs and projectiles that will confuse and quiet you while dealing low damage. It is best to run to the corner of the room until he stops using this attack, unless you have the defense to tank the damage. After a while he will use his third and final attack firing large high damage white balls in all directions with short range. If you manage to get confused in the previous phase and run into him right before he uses this attack, you will get shotgunned and die instantly regaurdless of how muchhealth or defense you have. After he finishes using this attack he will go back to his original attack phase where hesummons a dozen or so light blue minons. Eventually you will do enough damage to kill him earning a Wis pot with a near 100% drop rate. He also drops a white bag containing the fabled Doom Bow. This is a black and white bow that fires a single arrow with an extremely slow firing rate, but does 400-500 damage... enough to kill almost any god of the realm in 1-3 hits! ! ! ! @ !# @!@$ @ !@ !@! @!#@ $@# Everyone wants this bow, but few are lucky enough to receive it as a drop.Back when UT items were tradeable this bow was worth more than almost any other item in the game! I have only been lucky enough to get one of these as a drop, but then again I've only killed Septavious about 50 times or so. I've killedLimon about 200 times and recieved 2 Staff of Extreme Prejudice, one Wine Cellar Incantion, and 3 Planewalkers.
\*2.4 - Stat Maxing\*
Getting to level 20 does not mark being an accomplished RoTMG player. You still have to max your stats, get the best gear, max your pet, and join a good guild. The basis for all of these are being able to take on the game's hardest dungeons such as the Winecellar, Shatters, Tomb of the Ancients, Ocean Trench, Manor, and the new dungeons dropped by Lucky Djinn, Lucky Ent God, and Crystal Prisoner. In order to effectively clear these dungeons you are going to need high stats, good gear, and a high level pet with good Heal and Magic Heal for it's first and secondary stats.
I'm going to walk you through how I would attempt maxing my stats from scratch, starting with nothing. If I have nothing, I'm going to want to make a long range class, preferably one that can heal. My choices would be a Necromancer or a Preist. Once I have made my character I'm going to want to enter a realm. Once I'm on a realm I will go along the beach heading straight to my quest objectives. I will start out having a Scorpian Queen for a quest. After I kill a few scorpian Queens and level up a few times, I will probably kill pirates so I can get the Pirate Cave dungeon drop. Once inside I will clear the entire dungeon to fill up on HP potions. I will pick up an item that I don't want or need simply so when I have 6 HP potions and can no longer pick anymore up, I will be able to drag my item onto another hp potion that has been dropped and it will exchange my item for the hp potion. Now I will have a 7th HP potion and will pick my item back up so I can repeat the process. I will continue doing this until I have 14 HP potions total. Then I will kill the dungeon boss and enter the exit the dungeon bringing me back to the beach. Once I'm there I will either start walking towards the center of the map killing quest objectives along the way while hoping I recieve items I can use such as a t1 or t2 skull, a t3 or t4 robe, a t3 or t4 weapon, and a t1 or t2 hp, mp, or defense ring.
After I make it passed the first two roads, I will find myself having leveled up to about level 6-8. I will then teleport to a group of simaler levels players and follow them around killing stuff and leveling with them until I reach level 10 or 12. After I reach level 12 I will go to the area just outside of the godlands where I can fight Lesser Gods, Dwarves, and Night Elves until I reach level 15. After I reach level 15 I will try entering a Snake Pit dungeon by killing any of the Lesser Gods or the Dwarf Kings (Dwarves with crowns over their head). When I get in the dungeon I will clear the entire dungeon attempting to find a treasure room along the way. After I kill the dungeon boss I will most likely have earned a speed which I can take back to the nexus and trade for a T9 Staff (Necrotic).
Once I get my staff I will go repeat the process until I have earned 3 more speed. I will take these speed and trade them for a superior hp ring, a Robe of the Shadow Magus, and a wizard ability. Once I have all of those equips I will kill my Necromancer and make a Wizard. Once I make my Wizard I will level to 7, vault all of my equips, and head to godlands with nothing simply following players around until I reach level 15-20. I will get my equips out of the vault and start farming dexterity until I max it.
Once I max dexterity I will try finding Cemetaries and Mad Labs while I continue to farm dexterity that I will sell for 2:1 or 3:1 to obtain Defense potions that I will drink. I will continue this process until I have maxed defense. (Normally I will simply merch items instead of going through all of this and max defense without the risk of losing anything.) After I max def and dex I will start farming undead lairs, snake pits, and abyss of demons until I max wisdom, speed, and vit. After I reach 5/8 I will try selling the items and potions I get for attack potions until I max that and reach 6/8. After I'm 6/8 I will start trying to find Ocean Trenches and Tombs so I can max my last two stats.
After I achieve 8/8 I will start trying to farm wine cellars and the dungeons that drop tops (the highest tiered equipment in the game). I will trade those for tops that my wizard will use (t13 robe, t6 ability, t12 staff, and exalted or unbound hp ring. Once I have accomplished all of that I will try joining a top 100 guild that opens wine cellars, tombs, and ocean trenches. All that's left to do is get as much fame and gear as I can until I die. I will save the gear that I get so when I die I can sell it for defense potions so I can max def on any character that I choose.

I'd like to thank anyone who was generous to me in the game, such as Echoflare and Deezzer from my guild "FriendsOfDestruction" (#24 on USMW). I'd also like to thank everyone who complimented the guide or told me something that could be improved on. Also, thank you Kabam for keeping maintenence on such an awesome game! This has definantly been one of the funnest, most aggravating, and action packed games that I have ever played. (BUT THE METHOD OF BUYING AND SELLING ITEMS REALLY COULD USE AN UPGRADE!!!). Any good MMO has tried to copy Blizzard's famous Auction House design, and when they did their popularity rose dramatically! No matter how good a game is, if it takes 30 minutes to buy or sell one piece of equipment... chances are a lot of people aren't going to want to play anymore. I'd also like to thank Wiserhood for checking the guide over for mistakes and a lack of information!

> whatever you do DONT go to godlands
You need to go to the Godlands if you want to progress further in the game. It’s hard to get any good loot if all you are killing is pirates, bandits, and slimes of the outlands.

Thanks for the advice! Will do next time I get a chance.
You need to go to godlands and find someone giving away a gbow. Gods drop them frequently and a lot of players don’t bother to sell them. After you do that level to 20 and try killing gods yourself. Simply do roughly 15% of the damage to a god and you will qualify for a sb drop.

Thank you :)
It’s not finished yet, but I feel it covers most of what a new
player should know if he wants to really get good at the game.
If you could, please spread the word of this guide so it gets out
to players who are really struggling to get better. If you see someone
asking a bunch of questions or asking for free gear tell them to
take a look at BlackAbyss’s Guide for Beginners on Kongregate!

Yes, but reaching level 20 doesn’t mean much.
It’s when you reach 1/8 or more that you truly are
getting better at the game. Meaning you have reached
the cap for a certain stat such as 75 dexterity on a rogue.
Do you lose your pet if you die? Also you said **start farming dexterity until I max it** but you didn’t say how/where to farm dexterity? Great guide though, I found it really helpful :)

Section 2.3a paragraph two is where the answer to your question lies.
And no, when you die you do not lose your pet… It simply respawns
in your pet yard.

Wiki thread? Is this on the Kong forums or the wiki? I’m too lazy to check, because Linux.
