Idle Monster Frontier was designed to be playable offline and without an account of any kind, but it does offer a cloud backup system that you can use to prevent accidental loss of your save, or to move your save from one location to another. Your game will never load a backup from the cloud unless you specifically request it.
# How to Enable Cloud Backup
On the settings page (bottom right, blue button next to shop button,) CLICK AND DRAG the cloud save toggle to the ON position. You must be logged in to K, or else you will be prompted to log in to K. If you've never enabled cloud backup before you should only have to wait a few seconds before the "Status" says "GOOD" and you're now backed up to the cloud. If there's a conflict or error, see the appropriate sections below.
# Saving
Local saves happen constantly, and the game will automatically backup your save to the cloud every 15 minutes. To instantly update your cloud backup (e.g. to play on multiple computers,) you can use the sync button to the right of the cloud backup toggle (it looks like a refresh/recycle symbol.)
# Loading
Loading a cloud backup involves overwriting your local save, which is something that the system will never do without your permission. To load a backup, simply enable cloud backup or hit the sync button to the right of the cloud save toggle. If your account has a backup in the cloud that isn't directly derived from your local save, you'll be presented with the conflict resolution dialog, which will allow you to choose to overwrite your local save with your cloud backup, or vise versa.
# What is a Conflict?
A conflict happens when the save in the cloud isn't derived from your local save--this can happen when an automatic backup is missed due to network issues, or by playing (and backing up) in multiple locations. Note that some browsers throttle network requests in background tabs, which will cause a failed automatic backup attempt. If a conflict is detected by an automatic backup attempt, a red bouncing circle will appear on the settings button. To resolve the conflict, hit the sync button next to the backup toggle.
# Multi-boxing Procedure
Putting all of this together, here is how you can play the game on multiple browsers/locations without losing any progress.
1. Make sure that your cloud backup is perfectly up to date by manually syncing your backup before ending play in your first location.
2. At your second location, make sure that you are logged in to Kong. Then, when you start the game a conflict will be automatically detected (if there's no local progress,) or you can navigate to the settings page and manually enable or sync the cloud backup to trigger a conflict.
3. Once a conflict is detected, you want to choose to overwrite your local save with your cloud save (green button,) and you'll now be locally up to date with where you were when you left off in the first location PLUS any offline earnings.
4. Finally, don't forget to manually sync before leaving your second location, and then you can just repeat the same process when you get back to your first location :)
# Errors
Error statuses are almost always caused by inability to communicate with the backup server due to browser security settings. Check your address bar for errors or blocked content. If you do experience an error with cloud backup that seems to be unrelated to your browser security settings, please contact us and we will attempt to diagnose and resolve the issue.
