once you one shot the enemy leader, the rest of their team's attack timers are still ticking down. Higher speed only gives you traditional attack initiative on the very first attack upon approaching an enemy party. While you jump forward, the enemy is still ticking down their attack timers and at least one member of the enemy party will frequently get an attack off in that period

neoverse's Comment:What traits apply to Nymph’s “Ally” core trait?
purple_pwny's Response:Mud Shield, Steely, Connoisseur, Ethereal, now incudes strange magic, psychic shield, magic armor and soulless
purple_pwny: @glowworm it transfers exactly as it says. If Nymph is affected by mud shield then it transfers 50% of that effect to everyone else too
connoisseur and ranger count bosses as commons

The types of the bosses alternate--Ramesses is a mage, Cyclops is a warrior, Dark One is a mage, Skelesnake is a warrior. I think their special attacks deal the opposite type of damage in all cases (i.e. Cyclops' rockfall actually does magic damage.) Bosses technically have some damage multiplying traits but it's purely bookkeeping, nothing to counter specifically.
