Here's my strategy for end game diamond farming (earning diamonds for the lvl 11 and lvl 12 purchases from the Magic Sceptre). If you see a way to improve, please let me know.
1. First step is the day before. Collect all your garden items in a 3x3 grid. **Order of the top and bottom rows is important.** Top row: duplication scarecrow, speed sprinkler, single sprinkler. Middle row: harvest scarecrow, cursed vortex, rare pixie scarecrow. Bottom row: wealthy scarecrow, wealthy sprinkler, harvest sprinkler. With this arrangement, start a new day
2. Rearrange your field. Remove the middle row of items. Remove the wealthy scarecrow. Drop a pumpkin\* plot into the clearing
3. Harvest pumpkins once, then hire Ginger.
4. Purchase potions
1. lvl9 - potion of lucky mining
2. lvl7 - potion of friendship
3. lvl7 - elixir of speedy crops
*ignore elixir of drop blessings. It only increases harvest 60->64, not worth the gems*
4. lvl5 - elixir of lucky finds
5. lvl4 - elixir of crop haste
6. lvl3 - elixir of pumpkin spookiness
7. lvl2 - tincture of stamina
8. lvl1 - elixir of strong arm
9. lvl1 - elixir of crop excitement (not actually useful\*\*)
5. Wait for daily upkeep to complete. If you're impatient, start working on the 80B rocks, but don't actually destroy them. You want to maintain your 2x full-grid bonus. If you do accidentally clear a spot, clear around it and drop in carrots or strawberries. If 80B are (almost) cleared, you can manually click to give Ginger a hand.
6. When upkeep is finished, clear remaining rocks, remove pumpkin patch, and return your items to the 3x3 grid you started with.
7. Rinse and repeat
I'm able to do this cycle in about a minute if I focus and manually harvest, earning about 300k diamonds per cycle. Decent progress towards the 25.6M I need for the final 2x gold purchase in the Scepter, plus whatever lvl12 has waiting for me.
\* - If you're not quite to end game and still paying corn in daily upkeep, just move the top and bottom rows around to allow for a corn plot instead of pumpkin. Also change the pumpkin elixir purchase to corn.
\*\* - you want to spend all your gems, which will complete the daily side quest, which will allow the upkeep complete notification bubble to appear. It's not really worth the clicks to actually complete the side quests and collect an additional 75 diamonds.

Sooooooo.... maybe don't follow this advice. I appear to have hosed my save at around day 293. Beyond that, I keep getting "Save Warning" errors:
"SAVE WARNING. Your game hasn't saved for a while. If you are in a cut-scene or tutorial moment this is fine, continue the game as normal. Otherwise please refresh the game and contact the game devs. Error: 0306"
Bug affects game regardless of browser (Firefox and Chrome tested). Can't tell if it's a hard limit at the number of days, or if it's the speed of new days that's causing the problem. Regardless, I know that after it happens, the save is hosed. The save button appears to work (no errors thrown), but the game isn't actually saved. I've even tried using the save button every new day, long before the error appeared, and still lost the progress of those "saved" days. Pretty nasty. Right now, I've set my game on a guild quest and stopped the fast days. Hopefully that will clear it.

Something feels wrong here. If it really takes 100 repetitions of a menial, pointless click sequence just to complete shop level 11 and 12 is of course higher, the balance might be a little bit out of whack. I guess the next content patch will include something to make those more realistically obtainable.

Level 11 is actually the worst. The fifth purchase of double-gold is 25.6M and by far the biggest gem purchase currently in game. Even the 30th purchase of the 1.1x gold is only around 1M. But yeah, devs intentionally meant the new Sceptre purchases as a gem sink after players spent months churning through the markets content and piling up gems.
Bug update, I'm getting through days ok now, going through couple-a-day guild quests. Will try this quick-run scheme again soon and report back.

Tried fast-gems again today, no dice. I did one day (day 303), started the second day (day 304), saved, then refreshed the window, and I ended up back at the end of the first day (day 303). No error from using the manual save. I didn't hang around long enough to find out if the 0306 error would pop up again or not. I'll start trying a single fast-gem day between guild days and seeing if I can avoid progress loss that way.

New update, I've actually been able to make progress with this method!! :D
There are a couple deltas between my new method and the posted one:
1. I'm collecting the daily gem rewards.
2. I'm not forcing the 3x3 clear area. I've reduced my equipment between days to just the single sprinkler, speedy sprinkler, duplication scarecrow, and harvest scarecrow. The game now has a lot more freedom placing rocks each day.
3. I'm using other crops. Because of (2), I have holes in my grid that I need to fill for the 2x speed boost. I'm using mostly carrots and strawberries to plug these holes.
4. Spend time shards **then** plant pumpkins. Because the high-value rocks can end up where my pumpkin plot is supposed to go, I'm buying potions with time shards before I plant the pumpkins so I can break the rocks with full potion bonus.
Which of these changes is key to resolving the issue? I have no idea, and I don't really have interest in investigating further (it's *really* hard to tell when the bug occurs because the game does not give feedback on the success or failure of manual save). I suspect it's (2) because that feels like the instance where I'm really fighting the game logic and possibly causing it to throws errors and deal with recovery logic (I obviously don't know what handling a no-room-for-rocks error looks like). Anyway, hopefully this is helpful to the Tetronomics crew. Now I'm off to finally earn that last double gold!

BTW, Thalain, the reason I reduced my equipment between days is I noticed I could get another big-ish rock each day (not the biggest, but the second biggest rock). Another 14k diamonds per day, so another 4.5% diamonds per day.

UPDATE! Finally got back to quick days today (spent the holidays on guild quests because I couldn't log in often; hello guild level 53!) and almost immediately ran into the save bug again. Welcome to 2020 *facepalm*. Anyway, the delta between the quoted post and my play today is bullet 3, multiple crop types. I went back to just planted pumpkins for my daily tax and got the save error. After I got it, I started planting pumpkins and carrots. No save error anymore, and I finally finally bought and secured (against the save bug) the 25M diamond x2 gold purchase. Whew!
So Tetronomics, the source of this bug seems to be in harvesting. Multiple crops avoid the bug, a single crop causes it. Unanswered questions:
1. Does one of the multiple crops have to be carrots (maybe because of the "carrots harvested" high scorce)? Seems unlikely. Pretty sure I've done lots of no-carrots days without problem. Maybe it's just back-to-back-to-back no-carrot days.
2. Does the single crop have to be pumpkins? No way for me to test this because I have to plant pumpkins to pay the daily tax. Maybe someone else with a different tax veggie could plant just that for a couple days and see if they encounter this bug.
