Hi Jevert, I think that the map which needs less diamonds price are the easiest ones or almost that is the idea.
The first maps I bought were:
Hex0017
Hex0001
Hex0002
Hex0003
Hex0009
Soon I will buy next ones which 1diamond cost:
Evansher01
Hex0005
Hex0004
Hex0014
Hex0006
*Hex0042 is quite easy but has a 3diamond cost
This is just my case. After playing Hex0003 at 5stars I finally obtained dirmerd. After leveling up dirmerd I play the weekly challenge map but little by little I will buy more maps.
I hope this information helps.

One thing I will recomend is look at the hex preview. Many of the mastery maps are the same as the campaign maps. So if there is one that matches a campaign map you did that you think "that one was easy" buy it. If you think "I remember I hated that one" skip it till you buy the other cheap ones. However, most of the maps show up again with different capital layouts, different numbers of enemies, buildings on the maps, starting units, etc. So it can get harder to tell past the first rotation of the maps, but it does give you a good baseline to make a judgement on your own.
