Currently it uses your best win-lose, since that's really the only thing that can be compared objectively between months. Rank and position are both based on what the competition is like in a particular month. But win-loss is a personal stat that players can work on trying to improve upon each month. Also, we only show position for the top 100 players. I'm happy to take feedback on this though. The monthly tournament is overdue for some kind of overhaul anyway.
