Hi everyone! So after quite a bit of work on making the current content better and more reliable with cloudsaves, QoL fixes, etc. It is time for something bigger.
Now for a disclaimer: While this content is actively being worked on, it is not finished, polished or properly tested. So any content that follows might still change.
With that being said, lets get to what I've been working on! There will be a new feature called "Ascension". In it's basics this is probably exactly what you'd expect it to be. It is a secundairy prestige mechanic.
What does it do?
It resets your prestige layers in exchange for ascension points and perk points. Ascension points are aimed to further improve your strength as you go, and further improve existing features obtained through prestige. Oh and Ascension is layered as well, but will require prestige to earn enough points to advance.
Ascension points can be spend on one stat upgrade, experience. But it works a little different to how it works with prestige (and yes, of course it stacks with all other bonusses).
Ascension experience upgrades work as followed: x(10^^(Prestige layer reached)^^(upgrades on ascension layer)) (this last part repeats through ascension layers).
Ascension layers also provide gameplay upgrades similar to how that works in prestige layers. Here are the three currently implemented upgrades:
Improved floorskipper: Increases the power of the floor skip upgrade for all prestige layers by +^0.1. The regular default is ^2.5. This stacks additively with other ascension layers
Improved soft-prestige: Improves the math at which the soft-prestige calculation scales with current floor
Improved floorskipper scaling: At and above prestige layer 16, the floor skip amount gets an additional ^0.01 per prestige layer. This upgrade adds an additional +^0.01 to that scaling
Aside from Ascension points, Ascending also provides you with Perk Points. Those scale a little differently (more based toward the amount of ascensions rather than their depth). Upgrades unlocked with perk points can be enabled/disabled at any time, given you have earned enough points to create the build you want. However, those are currently mainly focussed on QoL improvements such as automating how you progress through prestiges.
Current perks contain automatically unlocking prestige gameplay unlocks when you prestige into a new layers, without spending prestige points and automatically prestiging into new layers. The idea of perks is for it to be extended upon, but I'm not sure how much before release.
Now I aim to extend the content by quite a bit with this update, but not simply by upping the current soft-cap that some of you are already running into. And in doing so I hope to allow more strategies of progression to emerge.
It's too soon to give an ETA at this point, but I'd love to hear what you think about this upcoming feature!
Cheers,
Gniller

It sounds awesome! Any kind of feature beyond the usual grind of building prestige multi is a welcome gift. If not for the armoury update I would have quit this game a long time ago.
I would also really enjoy some more unique attributes for classes - obviously right now the paladin morale boost along with warrior overkill tends to overshadow other classes.
Perhaps this new ascension can include the possibility for unlocking new armoury upgrades or something similar for the classes? Something to give more options to mid-late game players for their hero composition.

1. Are you gonna eventually extend this infinitely, meaning not only Prestige, but also Ascension, Meta-Ascension, Meta^2-Ascension, ... (with each new layer increasing your hero stats)?
2. Perhaps there can be some challenges to try, where each challenge has a penalty once entered, but gives some sort of reward? For example: a challenge that disables the Armory and its bonuses, a challenge that reverts per-floor enemy scaling to superexponential, a challenge that caps your floor progress based on spending gold to extend the dungeon, a challenge that lets you only unlock 10 prestige layers, a challenge that lets you only have one hero on your team, a challenge that kills your team as soon as any hero has less than their max health, and so on and so forth.
3. Quality of life option to only display the lowest # prestige layers and highest # prestige layers, and hide the rest? This reduces the clutter in the prestige menu.
4. Any performance improvements to be made to the soft-prestige system (especially concerning autobuyers)? Currently, the game only runs at 3-10x speed max when the soft prestige is enabled on all prestige layers. Maybe have a setting to toggle the improved prestige reset and/or the soft prestige on floor change per layer?

I just came back for the Ascension feature, but:
* I don't see any Ascension feature. The game isn't giving me the option?
* ~~My super-jacked-up prestige levels from before are apparently being ignored. I have an e2403 damage multiplier on one of my prestige layers, but my heroes' damage (as displayed on the Battlefield screen) isn't nearly that high.~~ (Nope, just misread it!)

To clear up confusion some mid-game players might have. Ascension is unlocked around prestige layer 20. You will probably see it's progression towards unlocking sooner tho.
To answer some of the other questions asked in this topic:
I do like the concept of adding more depth to the classes. Ascension on it's own did not feel like the right place to do that tho, but that does not mean I won't add anything to the armory. Just no promises yet, as those idea's are yet to properly form.
I do not plan to extend upon prestige/ascension infinitely at this point. Ascension should add quite enough progression depth for the near future on it's own. But who knows what the long-future might hold for Incremental Adventures.
While I like the concept of challenges, I do not find them too original in Idle games. But more importantly, they are a lot of work for a relatively small gameplay improvement. And don't read this as me being lazy, but there is just a limited amount of time I'm able to work on the game, and I aim to target this as well as I can to make the content I produce as much fun as possible. I do like the concept of some challenge mode that would scale through ascension layers mabye. But no promises there.
The update contained quite a bit of undocumented performance improvements actually. I hope you'll notice a difference!
I'm not sure what you mean by your second comment Brilliand. Prestige upgrades should never be ignored. But they do multiply with level. Have you perhaps gotten to the next number notation (e1e10)? Also, aside from some very early days (august) game-breaking nerfs, no nerfs have taken place to the games scaling.

1. It's annoying having to reconfigure your Prestige autobuyers every Ascension. Could you add a good way to set the default autobuyer configuration, so that I can, for example, only focus on XP and Damage automatically instead of defaulting to all the other stats as well?
2. When you max out the 3rd row upgrades in the Armory (cost: ~4e40 gold total) and then get 100x more gold than what's needed to max them out, the Armory button will still **always** be highlighted even though it shouldn't be, possibly because of the 3rd row upgrades.

Ooh, that I have! Thank you, I was just misreading that.
