I've reached AL2 and I see the recovery in the info tab. However the description is unclear and I'm very confused about what it does. I didn't notice any effects from the recovery mechanism either. I don't even know whether it is a new machanism for speeding up earlier part of high AL runs or just a terminology. Could anyone explain this to me?

When your ascension has not yet reached the highest possible prestige layer, ascension points are gained based on the currently unlocked prestige layer. When these values matched once in the current ascension, the highest available prestige layer counts towards AP gain instead. This is what's referred to as recovery. That's entirely passive, but limits truely instant ascensions that break the balance, as it requires you to unlock prestige layers at least once
