****Contest Over - Congratulations Meou2001 for first place*******
Hi Folks,
As we now know, I'm first place pvp, and it had nothing to do with a glitch that didn't give meou2001 his rightful crown, so as your king I've decided to host a special PVP event this week. The idea is that the current meta is a wall of fighters shielding a mass of frigates, and it gets boring, so I want to promote innovation. Therefore, this week I will hold a contest. The highest ranked person in pvp at the end of the week will receive 100 kongregate kreds (but I can't send you kreds, so I'll just paypal you $10, which you can use for kreds or whatever you want). However, you must follow a few rules.
1. Your fleet can have no more than 3 "square" squadrons. All other squad formations are unrestricted (also, you can only have 5 squads max)
2. You must use your fleet 1 for defense and offense. I'll be monitoring this closely. This is so that I can tell if you meet the criteria, and because I don't want us just using a fighter wall for defense. Also, I'll be checking everyone, so that if your fleet 1 sucks but somehow you're the top rank, I'll know you're using fleet 2 to attack.
3. You must use all three ship types. The flagship doesn't count as one of the three.
Please reply below if you want to register and I'll add you to the list. Registration closes Thursday 2/20 at 5 pm EST. Most of the real competition for pvp happens on Sunday anyway, so we have time.

Could I suggest we do the highest ranked person with a fleetsize and squadsize cap, lets say 150 ships and 15 squad size, so it isn't a runaway victory for those of us with big fleets?

I kinda want to test it without fleet cap first to see what people come up with. Also, I think that limiting the number of squares will reduce our defense a lot and increase offense to make it more volatile and give smaller players a better chance.

Cadet (cough cough cough...) meou2001 present, count me in. I agree on the point of proposing alternative builds. Two precisions :
* In order to encourage anyone entering. I renounce in advance on the $10 reward in the case I win.
* If things become too dificult on sunday night, i may resign from the tournament at the last minute to aim for PVP. If so, I'll notify it on chat.

Glad to have you both aboard! I appreciate the conditions, meou! Hopefully, we can get enough people aboard that the top 10 will be all of us competing anyway.
Neutius, I'm totally fine with that. Although, I often think that if you add a whole line of interceptors in front of your frigates, it may have an interesting effect on enemies and help you out a bunch with the flank. :)

Thank you Traive for organizing the tournament.
It was a good oportunity to try the side fleet strategy. for a couple of hours the side fleets seemed superior to frontline fleets, but at the end, the frontline strategy prevailed.
I'm leaving for a few weeks to cross the atlantic on a sailing boat (I'll miss the 4 next sunday PVP contests). Have fun !
