So, every 7 minutes, when the cooldown was over, I had to pause, (activate abundance and new fire if they're off cooldown), assign all workers in my 10+ cities to farming (40+ clicks), then activate Human Sacrifice, then move the workers all back to their assignments (usually to research), another 40+ clicks. Every 7 minutes.
Is it intended to be like that?

only if you want to game the system. else its just a nice bonus for having cities produce extra food.
btw unless there are some time critical things going on, you can just keep the game running without pausing, start switching a bit before and then switch back after, or even have most cities on food production and benefit from still having a decent science production.

Actually I agree with benny, the more unneceserry clicking the worse game :) Why not just base the amount on max food production instead of current food production?

Agree with topicstarter. Jumping from town to town and reassigning workers is lame. Just came here to suggest to make Shiva's spell be based on population rather than sci&food prod, and here's the thread!

Yeah, it is a bit tedious. I'd be fine with this if there was a way to change auto-assign for all your cities in one click.
Alternatively, having a "preset" of how your citizen are allocated and being able to switch between those presets would be nice too, since you don't *always* use auto-assign.

personally I like thing the way they are. its only when you want the food based bonus without farming most of the time that you get problems

Guys you do realise you can set global food production in the empire screen with 3 clicks regardless of how many cities you have and then turn it off, right?
Cities have an assigned role
spells go off cooldown
activate strong priority food production from the empire->orders screen
cast spells
deactivate priority
all cities go back to their original role
enjoy!

First. Priority don't count happiness. Usually, I need higher happiness, than priority gives.
Second. After deactivating priority, cities don't go back. Because I don't use auto-assign. Which is poor.

This thread is nearly two months old. There's a good chance that the feature you are talking about didn't exist at the time.
And as Fiocre explains, automatic city management tends to do a very bad job late game.

actually it sucks early game because late game has plenty of happiness to not care.
