As the title says, it seems rather pointless to me.
Right now, i would need e24 attacks/triggers to get 1% progress for a skill. Even on Angel with the buff on, which puts me at around 1e7% proficiency atm, that would at best drop to around e19 attacks (assuming the number shown does not already include the value). that is still no number anyone would ever reach, since at 50 attacks/sec that would still take me around 6.3 BILLION years to get a measily 1%.
So, am i missing something here or is proficiency just completely useless once you are past ~e10 production for resources?
And if it is useless, are there any plans to make it useful, because otherwise you might as well remove it from the game completely to save on computing power.

This is primarily an end game issue not a general problem. I just started playing a few days ago and im trying to pay attention to every source of skill proficiency I can easily get because it is still useful early on.

Yes, early on it helps a bit, however you will hit a point where it does basically nothing quite fast (somewhere around maybe late 2 to early 3 would be my guess from memory), yet there are still things that come WAY later (rank b equipment, most likely the dark ritual gem "Proficiency" that needs the zone 5 challenge boss!! core, maybe even the angel buff itself, don't remeber how early that one is unlocked) that give proficiency, even though at that point you can be damn sure it does absolutely nothing for you except waste computing power.
What I'd like to know is if there are some other uses of it that I have simply overlooked until now or if there are at least plans to do so, because having a mechanic that is only useful for the first 1% of the game and obsolete yet still present afterwards feels a bit pointless.

Its usefull for a few days at the start and then its completely pointless.

It's useful for the **first** run of each class and that's it. After lvl ~100 it's already completely useless :/
I felt so bummed when I made the push to get a skill to lvl 200 and the passive bonus was skill efficiency lol

e24 attacks for 1%, that right there is some Chinese MMO level grinding. Skill proficency does seem to be rather useless at higher levels which makes the mediocre ammounts given from rebirth and hold winds questionable. Bat Cloak provikes a fair ammount of proficency though.

Problem is that if profiencieny were improved to the point that it's useful past the early game...it could become an inescapable trap that would sabotage players. MP costs on some abilities rise very quickly. If proficiency actually leveled things at a useful rate, I can imagine situations where certain abiltiies leveled to the point that they become impossible to use.

I agree with LordBucket. I'm new and not experienced with the late game balance, but I'd be kinda keen for some of those skills like Heal to cycle faster with the same MP cost, rather than heal more per cycle but cost more. It can be frustrating when you have low MP but have already levelled some skills; you need things . But I'm not sure how things would affect that later on in the game.

Skill proficiency (angel biff, items, etc.) doesn't seem to increase the rate of gaining skill levels. Instead it increases the skill's effectiveness (but I think only for the current class skills, not global skill slots).
Skill Proficiency gain RATE (the angle rebirth points upgrade), seems to be for increasing the rate of gain (I imagine for both resource expenditures and skill usage, though I haven't confirmed this)
I haven't fully tested these conclussions yet, so I can't be 100% sure of this; but my evidence comes from the angel buff and applicable equipment apparently increasing my DPS; from the difference in language in the Angel rebirth upgrade; and the fact that the angel upgrade doesn't seem to be included in the system-stats-prof page (the bonus listed there is different from the bonus listed in the angel rebirth upgrade -- at least it is for me)

The real issue is that hold wings is the second last skill of the angel, and skill proficiency isn't needed when the skill is available.
It may be better if it's available more eariler in the game...

It actually is useful for the reincarnation skills, like "Angel Spirit". They have crazy resource costs but level from proficiency reasonably.

What the heck does proficiency even do? I've been trying to figure that out for days. The Wiki is comletely useless, it doesn't even have that information.

If you see the tooltip when you're leveling a skill you will see: Gain 1%/X attack (auto level up) or trigger and Gain 1%/ X resource (paid level up). Skill proficiency will make it easier to auto level up of a skill.

Skill proficiency is actually useful in reincarnation, for leveling the skills you can buy with heartstones. I got the angel passive for Angel Spirit way higher than it would have been possible through spending resources, unlocking a couple of the passives for it including +50% spirit essence. Hold wings stacked with some gear mostly. It doesn't seem as useful for other classes since they lack the huge passive increases to skill proficiency that angel has.

It's pretty useful now, even in short reincarnation run (< 12hours),not too hard to get extra 50%SE bonus for angel,if you've 300 achievements it's useful for other classes too
