Candidates do not actually provide any real bonus. Let's say I use joe blabbin. The coin generator gets multiplied by 7, yes, but the time goes up by an equal amount. They effectively cancel each other out. Has anyone else seen this and if so is this a bug or is this intended? If intended it doesn't make much sense to me.

Yea, I noticed that awhile ago. I think it is a thing done on purpose as there is no reason it should increase otherwise. Make people think they should spend to get better candidates when they mean very little. Only bonus I see is for when you clear a lot of quests in a shorter time equip one that gives extra cards or digs.
I also think this is done on purpose because not everyone will check other than observant people that like to analyze things.

The following are some notes I've typed up regarding candidates. Speculations/questions are followed by question marks.
