What I have :
- All normal researches
- All T challenges
- 16 Tax+ challenges
- 12 M/A- challenges
- Unlocked the expensive researches
- Runes levels are 317/235/120/201
I can not progress much anymore except boring extensive offering farming.
The problem : I'm not even close to the 1st Cost++ challenge.
What am I missing here ?

You need to be at around ~e800 particles, 420 speed/dupe

It looks like you just need better runes unfortunately.
I was at 500/350/250/250 for runes and 17 Tax+ and 13 M/A- challenges when i completed the first one.

I did it at 401/387/112/229 and ~e803 particles

in the same boat as sirmaiden.
this is the first time since starting this game when i have nothing to do at all even though i know there is content after cost++. Was absoluteley blown away by how game managed to keep me engaged for such a long progression curve, but at this very stage it seems that only thing to do is to wait for a substantial amount of time before anything interesting happens again..
definitely would be good idea for the dev to at least explore the option of rebalancing this section of the game so we (people who have maxed researches but are nowhere remotely close to c++) could have at least something proactive to do rather than just sit and wait

Yeah, I am severly dissapointed with the newest update. Literally the only thing I can do right now is grind more offerings and/or super expensive research. It seems like it'll take days of doing nothing but waiting for offerings and obtanium before I can actually play the game again.

'cause you think you'll have much more things to do after your first cost++? think again

|

This is the current endgame, and there will only be more things to do after the dev adds more stuff. It's obvious it's going to slow down when there is no more content.

Technically the first Cost++ does unlock a new feature, it just hasn't been added yet. I'm gonna give Platonic the benefit of the doubt and assume that the game doesn't hit such a boring wall with the Ant feature.
Man, it sucks waiting though.

As of 5 hours ago there's nothing after Cost++? I guess I can call this game done then since all I can do is wait another week to get that challenge done anyways for what currently stands as no benefit after. Too bad, I really loved this game even with a couple annoyances in the mid-late game.

almost the same as host of this thread.
Looking forward to updates.

As a counterpoint, the game takes time to create and balance. The dev is gating the top players intentionally to have time to, you know, make more game. Better to be grinding for a challenge than to be grinding for nothing at all.

Just curious, have there been walls like this that used to exist at earlier points in the game until updates added new content? Intentionally placed speed bumps that got smoothed over when they were no longer part of "end game"?
I ask because I only just started on May 17th, only about 12 days ago, and for the past 3 or 4 days (I think?) I've already been grinding away at this "end game" wall trying to bulk up enough for the first cost++ challenge. (Currently I'm at around e600 particles with levels 328, 289, 262, and 258 in the runes. First five challenges at 75/75, tax+ at 17/25, and mult./accel.- at 13/25. Almost all achievements complete aside from a couple of the mult., accel, and boost purchase achievements, one T achievement, a few R achievements, and the last 1-2 for challenges 6 and 7. All currently available upgrades purchased. Almost all currently available researches purchased aside from the one that unlocks some upgrades that it says aren't even in the game yet and most of the expensive ones with the yellow border (I have 44/100 on the one for bonus obtanium and no levels on the ones that boost rune level caps). If I attempt cost++ it hits a wall at about e9630 of the target e12000 mythos shards.) It's been a really rapidly paced game compared to other idlers I play. And I made zero effort to attempt any kind of optimization of what I was doing. I just did whatever.
Actually, something kind of stood out while listing out my progress. Those upgrades that aren't in the game yet stand out as a likely place for something that will smooth out this grind. The most expensive particle upgrade currently available had only cost e60 particles.
(How long has this game been around, anyway? Pretty sure that 1.009 is the first update to happen since I started.)

Currently grinding for this, can you share your rune levels when you finally got it?

I just got it earlier today - e870 particles, runes 425/370/220/225, those distributions are likely suboptimal but eh, happens, and all the researches in the first three boxes.

I had about the same levels so I think that is about it

Just finished it at 339/313/290/275 and e784 particles
I feel like I am playing wrong since I have been playing this game for 3 or 4 weeks and just now getting to this point.

I got with 490/346/197/206 and somewhere around e801 or e802.
In terms of impact *per offering invested*, the rune distribution is 1>2>4>3

What do you unlock by finishing cost++ ?

Finishing Cost++ unlocks a bunch of extremely expensive researches, ranging from 5e7 to 7e12 Obtainium.
I highly recommend investing in the Thrift rune, which really starts to shine after level 200. It seems to be the key to beating RC3.
Pro tip: Dump the Offerings from these promo codes into Thrift runes. (Shoutout to aguydude for grouping them in the other thread):

So, how does one get to e800 particles? Admittedly I've been focusing on offerings for a while now, but I'm only at e362 particles, so I'm nowhere near what's apparently needed for Cost++. My runes are currently at 500/500/289/481, so there shouldn't be any issues there, and I've had all researches purchased as of quite a while ago.
