Row x Column. So 1x16 is the 1% obtainium one, for example.

Hmmm, I had overlooked the exp bonuses on the researches that increase rune level caps. I was nowhere near any level caps yet when I started working on the expensive researches (I think I had my runes somewhere between levels 100-200, give or take) so I had been ignoring those researches for now, with the intention of starting on them after maxing each of those four runes at level 500. Whoops.
Looking over Minimaxi28's post, the 1x17 step is where things start to not line up with what I was already doing on my own anyway.
Currently: I've got 1x16, 2x17, 3x20, and 5x19 maxed. I've got 181/200 levels in 2x16. I've got 10/100 levels in each of 3x16, 3x17, 3x18, 3x19, and 4x16. And I've got 1/100 levels in each of 4x18 and 2x19. (EDIT: Looks like I forgot to mention that I have 2x18 at 10/50 as well.)
Other progress: I'm somewhere in the e1650s for particles. I've got challenge 6 maxed, challenge 7 at 15/25, and challenge 8 at 3/25. I've actually gotten my rune levels up to 500, 500, 384, 499, and 75 by now. And in the shop I've got each of the first four at 4/7, I've bought the instant challenge completions, and I've got the last one at 5/7.
