I did not get it: is this game closing down on 1-1-2021?
Or will it stil be online on steam?

Will still be on Steam and a downloadable version from their website.

Game is not closing at all, though may eventually become unplayable on most browsers due to the ending of flash being available, without the use of emulators or other external systems. Codename Entertainment(CNE) will still be regularly updating the game and there will still be ways to play it.
As far as I know currently, it will remain available on Steam regardless, CNE are finding a way to have it playable via their site, and it will remain on browser sites such as Kong, Armour Games and Facebook, though how long it remains playable in browser locations is pretty up in the air, it may just end in dec/jan completely, it may remain available and playable for years just without flash updates
End of flash and most of these types of flash-based gaming sites? almost definitely
End of Cotli though? Not at all!

It may be hopeful that would migrate COTLI from Flash to HTML5. Not yet sure if to would come in Adobe Air.
We told developers Erika so long ago if it would move away from Flash before the end of year in 2020.

All of the browsers I play on will be ending our ability to play flash based games 1-1-21. Without blocking updates and using an outdated and unsafe version of my browsers I won't be able to play flash based games. I am hoping the game will be converted to HTML5 by then. I am also hoping our game save info can be converted so we don't lose all of our progress. I haven't spent a ton of money here but some.

there are no plans to convert to html 5. the team is too small. The options will be steam, a standalone client directly from CNE, or a potentially still supported flash version on the CNE games site.

Correction:
**There are no longer any plans to convert this game into HTML5; any plan for this would be for naught. **
Why worry?
But please just consider this a ruled out idea and scrapped content due to CNE team being too small, insufficient, scarce or inadequate.
Likewise the Adobe Flash will die off and no longer be supported by early 2021 or end of 2020. And few people playing COTLI on outdated Flash may quit. And very few would be saying that COTLI will be closing down due to Flash no longer be suppoirted. This would possibly and nearly be the end of COTLI if it fails to convert it to HTML5. Our gameplay and saved progress would fade to nothing if we don't help any developer for migration from Kong to another one if it fails to convert this game to HTML5.
If Steam wasn't your viable stable option, there is nothing left. And COTLI won't thrive to keep afloat for much longer.
There is much controversy ongoing with Flash and HTML5.

That's not a correction because CNE has always stated they have no plans to convert the game to HTML5.

That would be any correction if any.
I repeat and I argue that CNE says there are **no longer** any plans to convert the game into HTML5. Again, there is ongoing controversy. And this is a ruled out idea (just as it was in Clash of Clans/Clash Royale) or scrapped content that CNE doesn't want anymore to convert this game to HTML5. It's very likely to be ruled out and to be possibly scrapped soon.
This means inadequate or scarce staff and team, that would mean it would be ***impossible*** for CNE team to convert this game from Flash to HTML5, to any more extent, due to vast complications.
Even if Steam isn't a viable option for some or many, and Adobe Flash will *no longer* be supported after January 2021, likewise COTLI may not be able to thrive it on its own other than one and only Steam client, to keep it afloat. Likewise, this would be end of Kong players and almost possible near end of COTLI.
How can players on Kongegrate lose their progress in the COTLI game after Flash is phased out and no longer supported in January 2021?
CNE has been stated that they are scrapping the content for/ruling out the idea of converting this game from Flash into HTML5 and permanent closure for the support of Adobe Flash after January 2021 would make some players quit. This may be very bad and sad news for Flash players.
Adobe Flash has been prone to hackers and it is nearly beyond repair.

The closest statements they came to commiting to porting the game to anything other than flash that I am aware of are these two statements by Kevin
> Porting Crusaders to some other runtime would definitely be interesting, but it did take the others 6 months or so to make the mobile client, so it would be quite an endeavour. We're still sort of praying that the Unity WebGL export gets a bit more viable for us, so we could converge the two versions of the game.

> No plans as of yet, but it's beginning to loom larger. There is some internal interest in developing an HTML5 version of the game, and using some kind of wrapper for the Steam version. There are other good approaches out there, but we really haven't looked into anything very deeply.

and since neither say there is a plan to do either (litterally says their is no plan) I wouldn't say my statement was incorrect.
They've been concretely stating their flash end of life plan since at least here
> Flash dies in 2020 as far as its use in browsers go, so we're good. It's only 2019. Once it is no longer available in browsers, we plan to offer an .exe download, since Adobe Air will still work.
