There is so much controversy ongoing and going.
God would know if He would be with us in trying or hard times.
The Adobe Flash will no longer be supported by the end of 2020 or beginning of 2021.
The CNE team is inadequate or scarce because it is impossible to convert this game from Flash to HTML5. The only standalone content would be Steam. Players' progress of Kongegrate version would fade to nothing. Why? Because any ideas here would be ruled out and content would be scrapped, just as it was in Supercell's Clash Royale & Clash of Clans.
Very few players would think COTLI may not be able to sustain enough after Flash starts to rot by December 2020.

As a Linux user, Steam may not be a very stable option for me, and the executable will probably not be very useful for me as well.
But CNE will check the options, and they will decide what to do for the future of this game.
If they want to convert their games from Flash to HTML5 or any other format, they will do so.
Some players will follow, some will quit. There is nothing much the players can do about it.
So far they already announced there will still be some options to play. Let's see if they have enough manpower to create more options, or if they prefer to focus on developing other games.

There is such controversy like this.
Here would be the worse case scenario if it the Adobe Flash is no longer supported by end of December and there is no way to convert this game to HTML5 and Steam may not be a viable option for some due to inadequate CNE team and COTLI may not be able to thrive much longer.
Here is the OP with such argument.

> there are no plans to convert to html 5. the team is too small. The options will be steam, a standalone client directly from CNE, or a potentially still supported flash version on the CNE games site.
As CNE has stated that they no longer have any plans to convert this game into HTML5 and there is a lot of controversy ongoing.

I am still playing dos games on emulators found online. I am still playing atari and regular nintendo games online using emulators. The quality of the games are minimal so I don't play them often. Mostly when feeling nostalgic and missing the simpler times. I don't believe flash games will be gone forever. Someone will make emulators for them eventually. Whether we will play them once our progress is stripped and we have to start over is an entirely different issue.

I don't see anything controversial. They've made their plans clear.

conversion to html5 should have happened long ago if they were gonna make that.

They made no plans and it's unclear and it's unknown. Only time will tell.
There is something controversial most people won't know about. Maybe argument is invalid.

I guess a year+ of repeatedly stating Steam, standalone .exe, and continued browser support if there are any browsers left to support on CNEgames isn't clear enough for you?

Thank you mods for fighting the good fight against hofdiddy's verbal diarrhea right up until the bitter end.
Hang in there. It is almost over.

It is neither unclear nor unknown. CNE has stated on multiple occasions they are not converting to HTML5. They have never stated anything else.

For now, all you need is a browser with flash support - emulators will be necessary once your OS will no longer support such browsers or the Flash itself :)
(yet i have to note that indeed, real gaming sites may develop their own flash players, like NG did already...)
btw, i have a lot of ,,dos games", grabbed like 15-20 years ago when abandonware was still a thing, and they are usually superior in many way to nowaday stuff - with graphics and interface being obvious exceptions.

All web games end and this one has lasted - and been well supported! - much longer than most. If/when it does finally close, I shall move on without regret. The devs have done a great job.

So there's nothing unclear or unknown, they've clearly stated in their Q&As that they don't plan to convert this game to HTML 5 as it's too old and not worth the level of investment. They'll keep it going via the steam version and via their own launcher on the CNEGames website. You can actually play there now: https://games.codenameentertainment.com/ in the browser and their launcher is coming later this year or early next year.

I just wanted to let you know that the game works great on linux(I used fedora and someone recently got it working easily on a debian distro).
If you go to steam and then go to settings -> steam play -> enable steam play for all other titles
It works great with proton 5, the debian user said they had to drop it down to 4.11. You can also easily link your game to steam from kongregate.
If you go in the game to options -> Linked Accounts It explains how to move your game over and sync everything.

So much controversy ongoing.
I don't get it. This makes no sense either.
It's true that it may be both unclear and unknown whatsoever. Most people won't know about it as devs are no longer planning to convert this game to HTML5. So they are ruling out the idea and/or scrapping the content to convert this game to HTML5. This is because it is outdated game and inadequate amount of developers or so due to complications.
I repeat, Adobe Flash will no longer be supported by end of December 2020.
We've had enough of this. Please leave this thread alone and let it rot. Likewise the mod will lock my thread upon my request.

mods do not lock threads by requests of players.
this is actually stated somewhere in the forums.
ahh... here it is!
Actually, I don't lock threads upon request as other users have also contributed and have items to discuss in the thread.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If the conversation is over, it will sink to the bottom of the boards quickly enough. I don't see a need to lock things that don't require it. Other mods may feel differently, but I'm not going to end a constructive conversation that multiple users are engaged in without a good reason. I feel I've done well at moderating as little as possible, and I'd hate to give people the impression I actually do something now.
this is from your old boy, ALAGAMER, btw.
