1/8/20 revival
Pewpewdie has long retired from Spellstone. I would like there to be an up to date F2p tier list in Pew's stead. I have a excel link I can share
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1p_Wy8FB0-KGkfBM1hVVF7fSDAYXCP2_D_m6-VM67YTI/edit?usp=sharing
Important Information (in progress)
https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1iRM4eDJVXapY0tPd97kHvjbAEuV9siVuwrphElIwjCs/edit?usp=sharing
There is also a master list of all the card I am working on as well.
Thank you.
1/24 Edit: Pew's Format seems better so I made a copy
1/25 Edit: Cards are seperated by tribe
1/26 Edit: If no comments are made to update buffed cards, I will rate them by myself on 1/28
1/28 Edit: ~~I'd like to create a benchmark list of cards to set the standard for rating cards. Also this will delay my updates to buffed cards~~
Ok, I have finally completed the card rating
1/30 Edit: Since this is part of the useful links now, I will start linking some of the cards to a separate document.
2/4 Edit: I believe Goblin buffs are not significant enough to require an update to ratings. If you have any objections, comment on one of the cards being buffed.
3/1 Edit: Barrier Seafolk Bge is up. Changing the ratings to accomadate
3/3 Edit: Added some more color coding to card tier
3/12 Edit: Simplified ratings by removing most of the columns. Rune column replaced with secondary faction rating. Change document reset due to a major update to ratings as a whole.
3/13 Edit: Important Information now a powerpoint slide. Also mass rating change
3/16 Edit: Made some changes to salvaged goods to make it easier to input stat and skill changes. The master rating list has been reverted to the former layout
3/17 Edit: Ratings now imply that you have the best rune equipped to the card
3/25 Edit: I think I will only rate cards by non-bge and set tiers for bge
4/2 Edit: Elemental bge buffs in discussion
4/8 Edit: Each Tribe tab now has a seperate rating if the tribe has a second bge
5/1 Edit: Converting all comments into notes. Should've done that a long time ago
5/6 Edit: You can make a copy of the rating list so you can sort. Instructions in the READ FIRST tab.
1/8/20!! I'll start working on the tier list again. Its going to changed up a little and the undead/seafolk tier list is nearing finish so take a
1/11 Edit: I will add the recommended reward cards to buy from D&D. I will NOT list what cards were listed each day. Won't be able to keep doing it :/.
10/11/21 Edit: I removed a lot of text that isnt relevant anymore :/. Also afraid editing this post would lock the thread again lol.

Pew retired from card rating...
|

metadata
Pew list was rather good, of course it will be outdated soon.
That said, I don't like your list at all, you need a finer bar than that color code, and there are cards with more than one faction, so your meta column is again, not very acurate by design.
The best way to do this, is taking the old list of Pew and updating it. There is also the tricky part, while Pews rating in general was pretty good, there will always be some disagreement on some of the ratings, like my personal view on Poliwarg, a card I would call garbage, for some reason it's hot stuff in your list.

Frogs in general are garbage in f2p now, and Poliworg seems to be the only option besides Kachina of course. Also my idea with the color code was card priority. Orange and Purple being the cards you should upgrade over Blue. I can probably stick with numbers instead like pew did, but I feel like there should be some breakdown on the score.

Well, pew did highlight better cards in his list too, so that shouldn't be that big of a problem if you want to have a better overview.
In the end, using this as a base for now, and adjusting the stuff that got changed and added after September would be the easiest way. Have some F2P discuss here about the ratings and use an average afterwards. The tricky part is since the game is always changing with new buffs and new layer of powercreep, many of these rating will need to be adjusted from time to time. It's a lot of work.
Small note on the Poliworg rating, he quit in September, so all the frog ratings are with the poisenhide BGE in mind.

Yeah, I just made a copy of pew's guide and will just work with that from there

Looked into this and i would recommend to only work on good cards. There is no need to have a complete list. Just call them A (must have out of bge), B (optional out of bge, must have in BGE), C optional in BGE. Maybe it makes sense to give another rating for decktypes (Hexbolt, Green, Empower, Tankstyle, Freeze) and again A B C. A card which does not make it in any category in C does not deserve a spot. The rating by every bge seems not meaningful. Effects are not known in some cases.

If this thread gets stickied. I will link each card to a separate document like pewds did with "For more details on card rating go to this doc."
Note this might only apply to cards that have a Blue/Purple status or cards that might not work during certain bges.
Here is a sample doc

Vali, the Thunderer will be a good example to show my format.

Due to a lack of community activity. I decided to set a standard for ratings based on stat inflation and highest rated cards for each tribe
Also this will delay my updates to buffed cards. I will not spend too much time on cards that have below a 3.0 rating, pewpewdie set a pretty good rating for the majority of those cards and new players will most likely have access to enough blue or higher cards that blank cards should not really matter to them.

Just to clarify a bit, i'm guessing this would be the idea for ratings?
4 and above: really consider using these
3.5 first rate filler
3.0 second rate filler
2.5 and below: don't even bother

This *is* the thread! The spreadsheet with the ratings is the first link on the opening post.
----------------------------------------------
Thanks for the hard work TrumanT1!
I'm gonna make some quibbles on some champs since I happened to be looking at them. I want it to be easier to have discussion (and to write long-winded paragraphs), so hopefully it's ok if I put them here instead of as comments. Can we assume roughly level 5 on the champs, especially the newer ones, since that's about the top end for f2p?
**Noctrus**: I think 5.0 on BGE is too high, at least with the avian mark BGE. Avian mark gives you all the hex you can eat, so bolt all / frostbreath are the key abilities rather than more hex. Also it was a lightning fast format from what I remember, so any 3+ drop without invis is kind of a liability. Mine isn't very high level, so I didn't get to test it really, that's mostly what I heard from others.
I would actually consider bumping up its off-BGE rating because its hex is so valuable outside of Avian BGE. Something like 4.0 off-BGE and still 4.0 on-BGE.
**Loco-5000**: Honestly, the off-BGE rating could be even lower. Like 2.5 or even 2.0. It's pretty bad.
**Vindicator Batara**: I think this is rated too highly. There are some decks in BGE that could use it, but I don't think they are f2p because it's not aether. Off-BGE, it's very mundane. I would say 3.0 off-BGE, 4.0 on-BGE at most.
**Ralgan Ironpaw**: At level 5+ with an emp all rune, I think it hits 4.0 off-BGE and 5.0 on-BGE. If not considering the emp all 8, then I think the current rating is good.
**Daknak Darkblade**: Underrated card in my opinion. At least for now, it's got itself a permanent slot in my hex/bolt challenge decks. It requires good placement, but it can one shot a lot of 2-drops with just a little support. To me it's about 4.0 off-BGE, again maybe 3.5 off-BGE without the 14 valor breakpoint. On-BGE, I'd say 4.5.
**King Proteus**: Until there is a off-BGE seafolk heavy deck, I don't think this card is much more than a more-HP Loco off-BGE. Its only offensive skill will mostly only affect itself, which makes it not worth the 4 turn wait. Certianly not as universal as Lok or Typh. I would give it around 3.0 outside of BGE.
I think 5.0 is also too high on-BGE, but I know some others really like it. We'll see how it plays out.

@Locke You do make a good point that level 10 is close to impossible unless you are p2w. Level 5 is probably a good line to make, tho the top f2p players do have level 6 or 7 champion cards. I'll just subtract the rating of the cards by 0.5 points.
I have throughly tested the past 2 bges, So i might have to experience the bges again to make a correct evaluation.
**Noctrus**: This card is most optimal when played first. Probably terrible for pvp, but still holds up in clashes, guild battles, and pve. This card is only average at level 5 and is only good if you want another card like mythic scylla into your deck.
**Loco-5000**: Yeah this card is pretty bad, but I still have to rate it by base stats, which is still above average.
**Vindicator Batara**: This card is below Habrok, since it lacks the empower all. It's slightly worse than vindiction angel since its a 2 delay ds. It is pretty mundane, so it would get a rating of 2.5 instead. Since vindiction angel has a 3.5 rating, Vindicator should also get 3.5.
**Ralgan Ironpaw**: its impossible for champion cards to get 5.0 actually unless its levels 8-10. So I'll make it 4.5 for level 4-6.
**Daknak Darkblade**: I will note that some runes may increase the rating of cards.
**King Proteus**: I rated it a 5.0 at level 10 due to its massive base stats. I will probably set a 1.5 point deviation for this card

Truman, why has the ratings sheet structure been changed? It is now much much harder to get a sorted list of the best cards per a specific BGE. For example, before if I wanted to see what the best cards were for the Goblin BGE, I just filtered the goblin column for Z-A and boom all the cards were listed top to bottom from best to worst for that BGE. Now I am not even sure if that is possible and if it is it is certainly NOT simple. Can someone explain how I can get that info from the new ratings sheet easily? And if it's not possible or simple, then please can you return to your previous format. I think it is supreior to this new one you are using. In my humble opinion, Pew_PewDie's format was inferior to yours Truman.
And THANK YOU Truman! Fantastic job. It has been very helpful to myself and many others.

whoops, forgot about that, I will create a new tab for that
Also, the reason why I changed the format is to simplify it more. Since I created a new tab for each tribe, It looked redundent to put each tribe in. So I probably will create a master sheet for situations like that

I made a slight cognative error. The ratings I made kind of assumed that you had the best rune attatched to it. I made a note mentioning this and will once again revamp the ratings entirely again...
