> That’s fair reasoning on your part, however, in late-game PvP, defenders are less commonly used, as they become almost a waste of space on a team. If you can get equipment on your attacker / support gladiators which allows them to have 130-165 vitality without any stat points invested, you can usually get away without using a defender (protector). High vitality + Cure on a netter or Cure All on a screamer is usually the safest way to go. Then, prevention is the answer. Prevention is having an amazing offense, whether it be through nets, screamers who force the enemy to 0 MP so they cant deal damage to start with, or an attacker which can disable the enemy’s damage dealer before they can inflict too much damage on your team. Once the enemy has 0 MP, and you are relying on your high vitality, they cannot use skills like 4x Combo. Any other attack from an enemy gladiator using Strong hits, Throw, Shield Bash, or 2x Combo even if they critical hit would at max deal 1500 damage if they had 420 strength or so. 150-160 vitality gives you around 1300 leg HP if I’m not mistaken, not including Lifeboost. As long as the enemy has 0 MP, they cant deal much damage, and you can easily cure it all back.
>
>
> Sacrificing skill points for Lifeboost though, means you don’t have enough stat points for Dex booster, therefore it is wise not to invest any spendable stat points into dexterity, since your points would go further in a stat where you have a booster. For the Str-Vit based DW, you want your equipment to prioritize on Vit / Dex first, and then Str / Spd.

> Back to your original question, once again I’ll say that _using a defender with 0MP attempting to block for a longer period of time is simply trying to delay the inevitable._ You’ve already lost the battle at that point. If you truly want to use a defender, a ProteCtor II is the best for the fact that they can avoid being pinned at 0MP to start with, as they restore all their MP in a single crowd appeal. They can also cure or use Intimidation/Boost morale even while the enemy is trying to use Intimidation/Intimidate all on them so they are more useful to a team. (See Masters Guide)

> The other option is to use a Speed-based DW which can kill the enemy before they can kill you. Its preferred to have a netter by his side, so that you can net the enemy’s biggest threat, and your DW should attack before the enemy can take off your leg. Its still nice to have a decent amount of vitality when possible (40-80) But you shouldn’t be sacrificing much Speed/str/dex for this. Think of it more as a bonus, to avoid losing a leg from an enemy Speed-based thrower/shield basher (Tribrid) who has more speed than you.
>
>
> Here you see a Speed-based DW, who can still take a couple hits – not a 4x combo – while dealing plenty of damage. You can use this without a protector since you have speed on your side.
>
> **Modern PvP however, with the creation of the Tribrid and Fibrid as resulted in far less of a need to use protectors, _and for that matter, Dual wielders too._** They get the job done without ever needing a protector, because the enemy can’t effectively deal enough damage to kill. A Fibrid uses a high block rating shield, with enough speed to use Shield Bash early game IF NEEDED (when facing a DW), otherwise he can use Intimidation early game, to prevent the use of 4x combo altogether, or any other threatening enemy technique. A Tribrid is even more effective, when paired with 2 more sCreamers, with the ability to use Intimidate All, the enemy is stuck at 0MP for the entire game, early on. All three of your gladiators have 130-165 vitality, so the enemy can’t kill you with Strong hits since you have cure. Then you kill them (a little slower than using a DW) with your Fibrid/Tribrid using Throw or Shield Bash.

it just comes down to gear and shop grinding, burr has devoted an insane amount of time to shop grinding which has allowed him to have such insane stats, for a normal team the stats you just listed should be fine
