I have chosen the assault class. How should I invest my skill points?

How about a skill tree for medics?

Well, each class has a wide variation of possible builds.
But here i’ll state the more common ones:
Assaults are very fast and deadly characters, capable of dealing very high damage.
For assaults, it’s good to invest on:
- Fast Movement (possibly 25 if you want him very fast)
- Critical Shot (for higher damage, combined with Pinpoint, Target Assist and Smart Target this can be really effective. If you want to invest heavily in damage, something like 10 or more seems good)
- Adrenaline (the ultimate fast character skill, this is awesome if you want a fast character)
- Killing Spree (higher damage and pierce is always good, at higher levels this can last long and greatly increase your damage)
- Faster Reload (Reloading faster… firing more… what else i need to say? :P )
- Assault Team (Very good at lower levels for dealing with bosses and zombie swarms… but i heard at higher levels they get killed fast, then, it may not be good spending more than 1 point in it)
I don’t know too much about medics. but, i heard some good skills are:
- Medkit (Essential one… 25 points if possible)
- Final Farewell (just need 1 point, can help your teammates when you die)
- Revive (well, this helps your teammates as well)
- Energy Regen (Medkits and Antidote take a lot of energy, even though i think it’s best to get the Revitalizing augment for your armor pieces)
- Antidote (high damage, good area of effect, very effective at taking out large groups of zombies)
- Fast Movement (moving fast is always good to escape zombies, but you shouldn’t invest on this that much…)
- Faster Reload (it’s always good to reload faster…)

In the end it really comes down to your playing style in this game.
There’s 1000 and 1 ways to go to, I would suggest being a bit more specific but edinaldo\_soader made a very nice post explaining the skills, I think that should help you out.

Is it smart to invest on speed,reload time and adrenaline so I can distract the enemies?

That definitely is a way to go, Assaults are usually very nimble and fast in general so this is a good strategy.

So far, staying at the back has worked very well for me as an Assault. Staying up close will easily get you swarmed. I would never go in a corner since this is in fact a zombie game. Take advantage of taking cover, and focus on your objective. I’ve seen several people make the mistake of charging in. Also, don’t open too many doors at once, not knowing what’ll be there. Either a swarm or not, try to play it safe.
