so apparently it was unhappy with something in my session that chrome keeps around... I opened in incognito and it worked. Saved the incognito game and refreshed in my regular session and it was working again. Not sure what was going on there.

I couldnt play for weeks now, read your comment and thought i could try it on firefox. So i started Kong in private mode, the game started without any problem, i saved, got back into normal mode and was very, very happy to see that the game loads just fine!
Shut down firefox completely to see if it was just a one time fix, but the game starts without any issues now. Yay!
@SupportPanda: Any clue why this works? And what the problem is that caused the game to crash in the beginning?

Hm. So apparently this is a recurring issue for me... Didn't have the issue when I started my computer up and opened chrome this morning around 6-7 am pacific time. Started Computer up again around 4:30pm pacific time and opened chrome(I have chrome set to restore tabs) with kitty catsanova tab and got a gray box. Same fix as last time works: open in incognito mode, resave, open in normal chrome and works. I am unsure as to what is causing this issue. I'm assuming it's some kind of session issue. So far the two times it happened has been around 4-5pm which is right around the time the dailies reset. Could there be something with the daily updates causing it? I have a suspicion that I'm losing something by having to reset this way, but haven't been keeping track of states of my cats enough to say for sure.

We're really sorry for this, we spent most of yesterday afternoon going through this issue - testing and trying to figure out what the problem is. It turns out to be an issue with the way Offline Earnings is calculated on Dates that are running - when there is a lot of progress to calculate. The calculations can get into a loop if the dates are finishing faster than the offline progress is calculated - this leads to a runoff of data that causes a memory issue.
Because of the way the server always loads your "newest" save first(comparing the timestamp of your local saved copy to the one on our server), any save games that we test, we set their save times to be later than right now - so that they are always the newest save. But, this also cancels all the offline progress. It wasn't until we found a really bad case that only required about 30 mins of offline progress before the bug appeared that we were able to reproduce it.
We're working on a fix right now and hope to have it pushed within the next day or 2, sorry for the frustrations - this was a tricky one to find.

Regarding the automatic heart bug: It not only stops when you end the game, no it also increases the number of hearts needed.
Dr. Loveless needed 422,205,996 hearts when i left the game yesterday. Today his heart count stands still with 424,101,460 hearts.
I can live with just refresh the page to get the hearts running again, but adding on top of the incredible amount the cats need is really annoying.

This might have been the vital piece of information we were waiting for. The next update(I'm not sure when, but ~soon~) will have a fix in for this.

I know it's been reported before, but I hate to have to leave the game and the autohearts stop ticking. I hadn't noticed that it refilled the hearts until someone mentioned it.
But now I am finding that even if I get the auto hearts going again, I have to remove my kitties EVERY. LEVEL. they go up because their heart counters stop again.
I have also noticed that without going from common to uncommon to rare, etc, sometimes I will finish a cat, restart (nap) and the same level (say like level 3) will ask for completely different things. Say I get them to level 3 and they want 10,000,000 hearts. I get them to 10, finish up with my cats, take a nap, get them to level three, and now they want 40,000,000 hearts. And nothing else has changed except for the speed I'm earning/doing things. This has never been an issue before. Usually if level 3 wants 10,000,000 for a particular cat, it's always 10mil hearts. Idk if it upgrading from Uncommon to Rare plays a factor normally, but the game has become ridiculous and undesirably to play when it seems like it just gets progressively harder. I'm already annoyed that to level up I have to collect more than 100 trillion hearts on top of the other two quest items (one I reached, one I almost reached, and the hearts I'm so low in it's barely even turned the counter green). I've talked to other people that are my level and they've not had to deal with an unrealistic number like that. I've seen calculations stating even with high speeds in the game, it'll take me several years to get that number. But I digress.

The autohearts not ticking have left me at a point where it is pointless to even try to make progress now.
I've got 4 cats that I can't get autohearts going for, and haven't for a few weeks now.

There is now way clicking chat is a reasonable way to get these amounts, buying gifts and dates barely touch those numbers. If autohearts aren't going to give me any progress...well, i'm losing interest in checking back in on this game every few days.

Yeah, the auto-hearts bug is making this game unplayable. I've got 14 active cats right now (all the ones still needing to level) who aren't collecting hearts at all, and haven't for a week or two. ZERO offline progress, and not gaining while I'm online either. Just not fun any more.

For days now, I've been getting the "The browser could not allocate enough memory for the WebGL content" message every time I check on it later in the day. I've been patient to see if it could be fixed, but it hasn't. And I have tried refreshing the page and clearing out my browser's cache. I don't know what else to do now.
