Is this the game with towers and gems ? That was so hard, swear even the normal badge should be hard. But incredibly fun.

Fine fine. No need to bitch about it. Besides I never made a first unnecessary post.

I love the Gemcraft games, but never in my life have I felt so blatantly lied to and taken for granted than by the developer of this game. Strung along on lies is the most accurate way I can describe it. Would miss a self-stated deadline, and not even bother to comment, or explain for days or even weeks. I’m starting to get a really bad ‘Chinese Democracy’ feeling about this – ton of hype…delays, more hype…delays, excitement and hype…more delays, many repetitions later it gets released…sucks.
They are going to probably lie to us some more as a little extra slap in the face, then ask us to give them money.

Solution: Don’t follow the development process of games.

Last I heard, it was going to be Friday or Monday. Today being Sunday, I suppose Monday could qualify as “next week” but the way they’re phrasing it…sounds like they don’t mean tomorrow.

armorgames had put that message on twitter, so peter’s actually done his part, next week will be the time it comes.

I don’t, I do follow officially announced release dates.

Do you know how unreliable official release dates are? :3
I’d say just don’t get your hopes up, because those dates are always written in pencil. Keep expectations low so you aren’t stressy.

When Labarynth came out I must have gotten my hopes up about 10 times

It amuses me somewhat that the top google search result for “armor games gemcraft chasing shadows” is this thread rather than the armor games thread.

Dear god **facepalm**
ANYTHING can get in the way of release dates. Here, I’ll list a few:
Sickness, bugs found in the last minute, power outage, loss of lines of code, trouble with sponsoring/ads/premium content, final polish taking longer than expected, implementation of API, quests or anything like that, (all of that likely) generating hype, or just being a plain liar. (what you say is likely but is not)
Any kind of minor little problem in code can actually screw everything up in a game. Did you miss a semicolon? **No more monsters in your game.** Did you mistype an equation? **Bye-bye, point counter.** Didn’t add 2-3 words in a loop? **Well then, how about I crash your computer?** All that can happen, and when it does, one can run a debug through **HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of lines of code.** Trust me, it does take that many to code a game like Gemcraft, and a single typo in any of them can destroy the game in a minute. And that’s just **one** of the things that can delay release.
Any other questions? :P

Pushing a release date back is a common marketing tactic. It ends up building hype because you get the player desperate.
I bet the game was finished a month ago. YOU CANNOT FOOL ME.

Um, no. Because none of those things are a players problem, it’s not their job to know what can happen when making a game, we trust that the guy doing it does and that he’s smart enough to consider those things before announcing an official release date. I promise you won’t win this. Lots of things can go sideways on anybody’s job, that does not in any way release them from accountability for dates and timelines…particularly when they set them themselves…no less than SIX times. Facepalm…yup.

I’m not so upset that I feel strung along on LIES. I’m sure that they had every intention of releasing the game on time and something just went wrong. I do feel very surprised that they haven’t commented, at least to let us know what’s going on. If they don’t know when the game is going to come out anymore, that’s a bummer, but they really should communicate with us.

With kongregate? Lol.
AG posted on their twitter about delay, now the game is on beta-testing on their site, you can see it on GIAB profile – he earned some quests for it.

And this is why Blizzard stopped putting out release dates until they were 100% sure they could meet them. Put out release dates and don’t meet them, then people don’t like that, even if they understand what happened.

I believe in the philosophy of the great Scotty. If you tell someone that you can have something done in a week, but then they say that is too long and you manage to get it done in a day, you are a hero. If you tell someone that you can have something done in a week, but then take three months, you let them down. You need to balance the expectation of getting the work done with the feasibility of it actually happening. If you have a solid week’s worth of work to do and say that it will take a week, you don’t give yourself any lee way.
