**--Disclaimer: I originally wrote this replying to someone asking about PR2 so if it sounds like I'm talking to someone specificially, pardon me, I copied and pasted this from when I made that reply, but let me tell you the story of Jiggmin and Platform Racing...--**
I've researched a lot into this. I still come back to this game every couple months and look into this stuff regularly. This game is my childhood and I do not wish to leave it.
In a nutshell, Platform Racing and Jiggmin are done, for good, and it all started years ago.
Part 1 - Selling Out:
The first step in declining that Jiggmin did which lead to the ultimate downfall was selling Platform Racing 3 Alpha/Beta to "SparksWorkz.com." This was not too bad of a move, it did change GREATLY compared to PR2 but people still liked it. Me personally? I hated it for the first couple of months, but I grew to love it oh so much as time passed. A little after this, Jiggmin knew he had no power over PR3 but he still wanted to contribute to the community, and he did this by going back and adding weekly updates to PR2! This was a great time for PR2 as it had already had an ever so slight decline and this brought it back up, but as time passed this method would fail...As I mentioned previously - PR3 was not owned by Jiggmin, but instead SparkWorkz.com. After a while SparkWorkz decided they would shutdown their website, along with the Beta version of PR3. This meant that PR3 would never officially be released as it never surpassed the beta stages. (If you try going to SparkWorkz.com today, the website does not exist, but a little after the website closed, the link did lead you to a notification which explained that they closed the site. Try the one "WayBackMachine.com" thing people use to look at internet archives, see if you can find the old website!)
Part 2 - Disappearance of Jiggmin:
Soon after PR3 was down along with SparkWorkz Jiggmin went silent. No one knows why, but he just stopped updating the game weekly (These updates were called "Motley Mondays" and Episode 22, filmed 4 years ago was the last one) aswellas no longer uploading youtube videos. Some months later he did upload one final video but it didn't describe why he went innactive or anything, it was just footage of him showing another little game he made. What happened after this you might ask? Nothing, absolutely nothing. Before he just went quiet, now its like he might have died. He not only completely went 100% silent after this, but he decided to shutdown his entire website Jiggmin.com with no warning, now nobody knows what happened to him. He hasn't even played PR2 in over 2 years!
Part 3 - Downfall of PR2:
With jigmin gone and no more development of PR3 the fans knew Platform Racing was done for good, the only thing the game ran on now was the fanbase by itself. Without any updates at this point though, people got bored of the game and slowly left. In its prime, the game had a full Derron server with 200 players and a couple other servers that all totaled up to around 400 players playing the game simultaneously. Over time, this dropped to Derron being life support, and it had about 150 players as the other servers were about like 40-60 players max. More time passed and Derron had about 97 players and the other servers had only 30 players for max. This kept going until today where Derron only has about 20 players on an active day, and the other servers have 5 players max. No body to this day knows what happened to Jiggmin, why he left - if he died - if he took a break, or what, but people are saddened that PR2 is dying, and they can't change that fact.
Part 4 - Conclusion:
The Platform Racing series - along with any other games made by Jiggmin, are officially abanoned and we can't stop it. We can only move foward and look back at how far we've come. On the bright side, Kongregate still has some working Jiggmin games and we can always visit them for old times sake. If it was up to Jiggmin, PR2 most likely would have been cut and it would suffer the same fate like how Club Penguin did recently, except PR would not be rebooted. I truly miss this game and if you wish to play it at its best, log on around 3pm on a Saturday. That's the time when players are most active. Other than that, it was an honor writing this story of the game, and I wish everyone a great day.

uhhh jiggmin still posts occasionally on freegoo.se forums. hes talked about wanting to make pr4 in the future but its probably many years off. also jiggmin didnt abandon pr2, he still fixes server issues from time to time and keeps the game running. he's just busy with life aka a real job and a wife.

Yeah Jigmin still exists tho.
What's hard to believe is that a game that allways had max players on every servers back in the days now have 2 players.
PR2 sure has to meet it's end but imo it's the best flash game out there

I know this is old, but sorry for putting this on top. Jiggmin still posts on grahn.io on 4th January 2018 he posted a topic about Anyone Want to Work on Platform Racing?
Text in that topic says:
Lately I've been thinking about how to move forward with the Platform Racing series without abandoning its long history and dedicated community.
I just uploaded Platform Racing 2's multiplayer server to a public repo. Some of it is cringeworthy and embarrasing, but oh well! The code is a decode old! Github will probably do a better job at preserving the files than I can, and this creates a new opportunity for PR2 to grow and improve.
If you have been waiting all this time to contribute to PR2, then now you finally can. Contributions are very welcome. :)
I am currently working on a project called Platform Racing Forever. I'll write more on that later!

"Public repo" is a clickable link, it would lead to https://github.com/jacob-grahn/platform-racing-2-server

Thanks for mentioning this! You are absolutely correct. Jiggmin has been pretty active even recently. He typically replies to admin emails weekly and updates github once every few weeks depending on his schedule. We are fortunate for anything we can get from Jiggmin.
SUPER HYPE FOR PRF

My favorite part was always the drama. Some funny stuff happened in the game and on the forums. Good times.

I hate to say it, people, but I can't even log in anymore. I really think Platform Racing is dead.

Pr2 is fine.. For some reason people always log on at the wrong time when the game is down for 30 minutes and imediately post "PR2 is dead"
If you are having issue refresh your window. If that doesn't work clear your cache and stored website data.

Not Dead. Old veterans always comeback... I knowi do... maybe not everyday, week or months, but i do comeback...
PR2 was a good game, and i loved it from the beginning with my 3 accounts starting by Volcano2 ( long lost due to giving it to someone else. Also had a glitch where i couldn't upload any new levels ( It would always crash and give an Error )), Pixpax21 For the continuation of Volcano2 soon stopped after i lost my password and didn't have a Recovery email... Rip that account. And now playing with my main account to this day Karatek with 12 hats level 39 almost 40 and will always be active from time to times. I miss the old days of 2010 where the servers where full... oh man... the memories...

PR2 will never truly be dead like the other kongregate classics that are slowly fading away, it's just not as florushing as it used to be in 2008-2011. That's because this game is over 10 years old, it can't compete with all this Idle Clicker bs all these devs are getting wet over.
