Okay, I will start this by stating I am not trying to be a jerk, but I can see where it may seem that way. Years ago, the Dev for this game promised hundreds of peoeple, good people at that for the most part to relaunch a sunsetted game through FB calls Super Hero City. I am looking to see if that ever actually happened. Can anyone elaborate on this for me, please?

what lvl benefit do niode mechs have over crystal mechs, eg is a lvl 20 niode mech stronger or just as strong as a lvl 30 crystal if they are both at the same level of skill eg axebot versus holmes?

the reason i ask is as a lvl28 player is it worth my time and niodes to lvl up two Dread niode mechs to 28 or will Namtars be just as effective at this lvl?

With the 1st part, an Axe Bot or Commissar is as good as about 3 iMechs. I (speaking for my various alts) have them in my 30 & 40 ton squads if I have them. And Novums & Nerios.
One reason for doing this wouldn't apply to normal battle, just the specific formations, is that you'll have lots of nice 10 - 25 ton Niode gear avaialble. 1 thing I like about Single Rainbows is being able to use all the normally idle Niode gear on smaller mechs that have been retired from the frontline squad.
Any Niode mech from 65 tons will be good against Crystal mechs up to 100 tons. I (currnetly L117) recently replaced a Yallan with a not-quite-leveled Inferno.
Mostly Niode mechs are as good as Crystal mechs double their tonnage. A Novum will usually beat a Freon or Krampus, but they're a special case.
The Dreads are good & you should level at least 1 for your Rainbows and they will be good in any KOTM up to 60 tons. I still have one in my L95s Single Rainbow. With their inbuilt Trample, Hive Racks & Swarm Racks are good, as they're missiles with Trample.
There's lots of very nice Niode Gear available for them. If you have Gorgon Engines fitted to boost Missile Damage, they also of course boost Laser. The Rad Scatter also has Trample :)
In general though, spending Niodes on upgrading mechs should occur during upgrade sale probably 90& of the time. This is why some of my alts have from 10-20 Niode mechs under L10, waiting their turn.
Spending Niodes on weapons should only happen if they have Crit-Kill. I've sold 90% of the niode weapons under 55 damage. Some smaller ones remain for specific purposes, like the Hive racks I mentioned & Cats Eyes for their Freeze. Others though are either Tribute weapons, have Crit-Kill, or speed of 110 or more - Panther Wheels kept but not Double Gattlings.
It's no coincidence that the more Niode equipment I buy, the more names disappear from the list in my Vengeance tab.
Despite the kickback, Namtars get much better as you level. I recommend trying to keep a full set of them for the Reverse Ratman KOTMs, as not a lot of players have a full squad. Only 1 of my alts has enough, but it has a few wins for them.
I think they have the best inbuilt Crit-Kill of any Crystal mech except the Ammonite.
The range of equipment available for them is very good too. You can turn them into a variety of specialists. Like most mechs in the 50-70 ton range, you can get easily get 50+ Fire damage from them. I've had over 90 from a Spitfire.
