I really like teh idea of Storm Wars and even over a long break I was thinking about how it worked. i thought I'd try to sum up my thoughts here. and don't worry, it's not an ungrateful litany of complaints!
firstly, the game is incredibly attractive to a new player - the cards have good art and it's exciting to see all the card effects zipping back and forth, the sound (even though the stigma in an online browser game is that you immediately turn off the sound) is fairly gorgeous and the deck customization it promises makes certain sorts of players drool immediately. additionally the plot is dry but not inane which places it above something like Gems of War, lol. the glimpses of exotic cards with exotic abilities you get in the endless dungeon and all the random loot that comes to you also promise the game will be generous and multi-faceted, which it is.
PVP is very unimpressive compared - it's fun at first to learn the lay of the land and slowly become aware of how match-ups work and the telltale signs of an ambiguous champion, work out how existing players have learned to combine cards and so forth. but the system is a holding pattern rather than an endgame - there's nothing to win apart from an extra handful of gems. No special content is unlocked by the fame level, for example - your rating doesn't appear to other players. Crew battles are the same way - you get access to the crew cards whether you win or lose, and being in a high-ranking crew simply puts you a few rungs up the same ladder. Even though the base game is good, you can learn to resent the small amount it rewards you, especially when played it at a level of repetition required to be top 25. and the top players (not that I particularly am one anymore) aren't really respected during times of imbalance - if a readily available deck (ie. Fenris Rush) is conquering almost everything else then the skill of deck design gets flattened in importance.
In a word I think what the game is missing is that level of personalization. You can't get creative with your defense deck because that defense deck belongs to your crew as much as you, and you're letting wins leak through if you mess about. You can't get creative with your deck name because no-one else sees it. You can't customize an avatar cos yr avatar tends to be the same as everyone else's - whichever champion the meta favours, and most attempts to play a novel champion give you get no reward except for falling behind.
my recommendations:
- There needs to be someone running events (such as all-players-combined damage against unreasonable bosses) and giving out unique rewards for doing well in them, by which I mean new cards and equipment, new variations on champion art so you can customize yourself. Not gems!
- Players need multiple defence slots for self-expression's sake and to muddy the waters in the arena.
If you just don't have the money and manpower to do this, I understand. otherwise thanks for making a great game and please take Fireproof off Fenris lol

Thanks for this feedback, and thanks for the kind words.
Aesthetics are always a good thing, but they take non-essential effort to implement. As we tend to spend our man-hours fixing bugs across the many platforms we have, it's been a challenge to find time for character customization, as you mention. Though it's a good idea nonetheless.
Community-scale events like raids is also a good idea, which I have personally been toying with a while now. Let's put a pin in that for our next game update. :)

I agree with Yakfak on everything - great game with great features with some room to improve nonetheless.
For me the main improvement would be to add more options to communicate with other people. What really makes games interesting over a long time is always the community. In addition to the Crew chat you should add an aditional chat in the corner that is always on top and in which you can easiely switch between the world, your crew and pms to friends (also sth you should implement is befriending ppl). A kong game called Time World has that if you have the time to take a peek (this game is as dead as a game can be but some ppl stick around mostly to chat with old friends). Kong chat and what you have on your SW-hompage etc is not bad ... but in the end the ppl from different platforms only have the Crew Board to communicate which is rather annoying and not sth to really just have a nice chat. Also it would help to improve team tactics in Crew Battles. I know that is lots of effort and it does not sound like much of an improvement but in the end people will not stay in online games for a new card or a new equip but for old friends!
Like Yakfak already mentioned there should also be sth for the whole community- maybe an event where you can sign up randomly for 1 of 2 factions (ofc again with an own chat room) and fight over a map with bases that give different boni when held. You could get points for team effort and your own wins. Everyone could fight with their own deck (picked from a pool of owned cards with some cards removed so you cant build stall decks) and keep suffered lossed from earlier fights, till they are out and respawn somewhere with a delay and as a reward ppl could either get some gems or better even some tokens for cards you can only gain there. Just make it so everyone in the world can join sometimes and sometimes not like e.g. every 39 hours. Again i see this as an effort to strengthen the community bc you could chat with ppl on your team which are not part of your crew. The more friends you have/can make the more you have to keep you in the game when you have reached a point where the game alone is not sufficient anymore and imho it is not enough to rely on chats outside the game like kong or SW-Chat or even discord - this is sth that should be implemented in every MMORG so everyone can talk to everyone else ... and on occasion has to ;)
Also ofc Fenris has to be fixed (as much as it saddens me bc i am a rather new player who exploits the shit out of it with quite a bit of success;). Just adding an equipment noone has yet will not be sufficient. 1 Rush instead of 2 might already be enough for the E version but if that is not enough you could do more (hopefully soon if that does not proove to be suficcient). I have to say it does not only get annoying for ppl who get get farmed with an endless Fenris rush, but i also feel that it is rather boring to use the same tactics on half of the arena matches and Crew Battles. Ofc i dont have to but ofc i also dont want to throw away easy wins especially for my Crew ... so pls make my favourite toy less op ;)
Maybe a feature that does not allow more than 3 copies of the same card on the field at once might also be a good idea - for every hero and deck and not related to anything else. In that case you would not even have to nerf Fenris and a lot of ppl would have to come up with a few new ideas.
