About year ago, a disaster happened. That one update.
Before that, I played for about a year on Kongregate account. Reached rank 1, was enjoying random fights...
Then, my "legacy items" turned from my power into my burden. Post-update items was able to easily beat any legacy mech through sheer power. Even matches between legacy mechs only were more of who has higher tier items" competition. At the same time, legacy items that you would not want to use stayed in your inventory - all while inventory space was limited and using those items for upgrading costed money which you had of limited amounts, less than enough for using those hundreds, thousands of legacy items...
after few days, I realised I feel desire to play and solve those issues no longer, not even trying to collect daily bonus. Before, game could offer creativity in mech creation and fighting, but only grinding to become "more powerful" remained; perhaps I could be hooked by my old mech and probably find new ways to entertain myself withim new edition, but even old inventory was taken away. Nothing was stopped me from silently leaving.
so that was year ago. Now I am not going to come back of right now, I have Team Fortress 2 and other games that I played before seeing SM and will probably play for much longer. But I am curious of game's condition and how Tacticsoft now tries to attach players to the game.
so thats the question I am asking. How's game now feels, compared to year ago? What new have been added? Is there anything worth looking now?

The game has a new titan boss, which if you are in a guild acts almost like a world boss, so more grinding for tickets of course but overall its worth the save for 2000 clan points for a free premium box (Which are bae for upgrading those legacy mechs to new)
The raid system is new as well which players are given a level daily to complete and get as many points as they can, at the end of 6 days they are given credits and tokens according to your score and place on the leaderboard
More weapons and daily portals, the increase of weapons has made it more common and like the original game which is even more fun now.
All in all the game has changed alot into a proper MMO.

sadly MMO sounds a little too boring. My MMO experience was limited, as I ended up feeling too bored with repetative things.
well, changes you mentioned mean game might be more or less comfortable; still not sure if I should re-enter it.

I'd probably avoid. You wont make rank 5 or above without insane time grinding or money. There are a few more things to do now, beside PvP, but still, its so badly P2W skewed.

drones are always either common-rare or epic-legend or mythical, so upgrading doesn't help me there

the game is fine, ofc it is alot of grind to reach top ranks, but it seems doable and it isnt necesarry there are many games that are unplayable this isnt one of them..

Yeah,SM has gone to ashes. Tactisoft became EA after the legacy update. Grinding is virtually impossible. Oh,you want to grind to the top? Well, sorry to burst your bubble but you have to pay us money in order to grind some more. What, you don't have the money? Well, too bad. Wait for the whole day until you want to grind. If you took the time to grind to get a single legendary and/or mythical, you'll have to either enter 100+ PvP matches to get boxes in the map (If you haven't already) or you'll have to continiously grind the final mission for what,300 hours? That's with my experience with grinding on the game's website. In fact,it took me more in certain occasions.
Lower Level PvP and Medium Level PvP is a freaking joke. I can guarentee you that 50% of the lower and medium level players all have at least one or more mythicals. SM is now obviously pay-to-win if you started after the legacy update. Three friends of mine whom I invited to Supermechs so that I can get the rewards from the Gift Codes are now gone after the legacy update. They tried to grind for the new items, but they ultimately failed and quitted the game. And I crap you not, they were Level 30s with full Mythical gear that can beat anything on pre-legacy. Tactisoft probably learned from Activision and EA that pressurizing your players with Low levels with high grade gear and hideous grinding into buying your horrendous microtransactions will earn you loads of cash. Tactisoft also learned that having a good PR is next to useless if you're viewing it from a corporate standpoint.
One of my favorite browsing game studios became one of my most hated game studios of all time. This is like Bethesda with Fallout 76. A passion project studio slowly transitioned into a Greedy game studio. While I crapped unto this game so much I could fill the entire Mariania Trench with dumps,I still have some form of hope for this game. I hope that Tactisoft changes from their P2W ways and shift into their passion project once again.
