over the last few weeks, i’ve been writing some mods for factory idle that are compiled into a single userscript:
[fimod](https://github.com/sidke/fimod)
this mod has no hacks, just interface changes. features include:
- map zooming and keyboard scrolling
- fullscreen mode (both site and kong)
- toggle background mode
- building efficiency icons
you can toggle individual mods through the fimod menu in the top bar
let me know of any issues you may have, and i’ll try to accommodate
i have a list of things to add in that i’m slowly working through, and i check the suggestions thread pretty frequently
i have no plans of making any gameplay changes so as to not risk breaking save compatibility with any future versions of factory idle

Just installed. Awesome. The keyboard movement alone makes it. Lost count of how many times I’ve accidentally used right click when trying to move and instead wipe out half my factory.
The efficiency icons are also much needed. One suggestion so far: have a way to enable/disable the icon for certain buildings. It doesn’t really matter that my garbage is not 100%, for example, or even the buyers so much.

There’s an installation guide in the repository readme. To sum up, you need to install an userscript addon and then the fimod script (there are links in the readme). Once installed just reload the game page and the script will start working.
By the way, great job sidke! I really love the improvements.

The install instructions are litterally ‘Install the plugin, Install the script’. Not helpful at all unless you have actually used the Plugin before.

Step 1: Go to the Readme.
Step 2: Click Greasemonkey/Tampermonkey, and install the one you chose.
Step 3: Click fimod.user.script and install it.
Step 4: ???
Step 5: Profit.

Okay, i tried it, nice Mod, i like it. :)
But theres the Problem that the bottom text is unreadable:

there are installation steps in the readme, and it’s literally two steps:
- click on a link in the first step and install it
- click on the link in the second step and install it.
i’m kind of confused at the confusion.
to be very most extremely verbose… userscripts generally need a manager. browsers do have browser extensions, but developing them is specific and a hassle, so userscript managers help allow a single userscript to work on all browsers that have a userscript manager. so the first step is installing a userscript manager, depending on your browser. if you’ve got chrome, install [tampermonkey](https://tampermonkey.net/). if you’ve got firefox, install [greasemonkey](https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/greasemonkey/). after you’ve installed one of these, install this mod by clicking on the [fimod.user.js](http://github.com/sidke/fimod/raw/master/dist/fimod.user.js) link. you’ll be met with a screen or window to confirm you want to install the script, and then you say yes. refresh the game page and the mod will load up. uninstallation would be going to the userscript manager and disabling or removing fimod, or removing the userscript manager entirely.

try enabling the “Move Overview” mod in the fimod menu. if you don’t see that in the menu, update fimod and make sure you’re using 1.06.10. you can check the version at the top of the fimod menu.

could you change yellow or green into triangle?
also why have option to move overview if its unusable without moving it.
text still takes same horizontal space and it has no improvement over vertical space. 3 buttons on right could be made smaller/rearranged so top bar is smaller.

it’s perfectly usable when you don’t play on kongregate. due to the small space provided by kongregate, you can optionally enable the mod to restructure the overview into the side bar. if you don’t want it there, you can disable it. the entire point of having these mods able to be toggled is you do not need to use them.
also how is it not improving the vertical space? the background mode button no longer drops all the content down, so everything has room when the overview is moved.

i mean no improvement over no-mod. zoom kinda helps with that but both would be better, if possible ofc.

not issue, but mod is suggesting improvement, and there isnt in that regard. by moving overview you have chance to widen building descriptions = less lines = smaller top bar = win.

what uses less memory, background mode or ‘factories’ page? if they arent same, why not have background button in latter? if latter uses less, would be useful to have as disclaimer. potentially question for dev and not you, but it wouldnt hurt.

Bug report: If the “Clear Factories” function is disabled, the controlsBox and componentInfo will switch their position.

Nice mod, thank you sidke!
Bug?: Fullscreen mode doesn’t work well with the fullscreen mode of the browser (pressing F11 with Chrome). So with Chrome’s fullscreen I have to disable your mod’s fullscreen mode or the playing area will become smaller than the default one, and the only way to fix it is to refresh.
Suggestion: The building efficiency icon should work the opposite way with garbage: green with efficiency \<100%, yellow and red with efficiency close and equal to 100%. Because when all is working fine I’d like to have all green. So I could check the map health way faster.

drawing circles is the easiest, and i don’t see any real value in changing the shape so i’ll keep the circles for now

fullscreen bug may be fixed, i completely rewrote the way the fullscreen stuff is handled and was able to drop the move overview mod in favor of the new stuff.
something that may be of interest:
