You should certainly read through the very page of the thread you posted to for your solution ([hint](https://www.kongregate.com/forums/7-technical-support/topics/1873379-supernova-player?page=10#posts-13652432) or [hint 2](https://www.kongregate.com/forums/7-technical-support/topics/1873379-supernova-player?page=10#posts-13651974)).

My guess here is that you haven't restarted your computer after installing it (or you don't have a modern version of Chrome or Windows). Did you do this? If you did, try to uninstall and re-install SuperNova (as it seems something went wrong with your install).

**For those lazy guys (like me ;P) who want to play Kongregate's old games and are having problems with SuperNova Player, here is a quick compilation for not getting mad by reading all the posts around there. Remember that this will only work for Windows users, since SuperNova Player don't work in Ubuntu (maybe by the external installation of a Virtual Machine, like Wine) and I don't know for MacOS users**
I want to give my personal recommendation on following the steps given by **[miambox](/forums/7/topics/1873379?page=9#13641188)** and, then, follow the great guide provided by **[RainyShadow](/forums/1/topics/1938099?page=1#13574855)**.
Let me post here my complete experience in case of any doubts (it is neccessary to make steps 1, 2 and 3 in Firefox, since Chrome doesn't seem to be able to edit URL links in bookmarks).
**1)** Open a new window of Firefox and add a new random website to the bookmarks. Then, go to the bookmarks option in the upper-right menu of Firefox (the three horizontal lines button) and right click in the bookmark that we have just created and select 'edit bookmark' option. In the URL field replace its content by one of the codes provided by **[RainyShadow](/forums/1/topics/1938099?page=1#13574855)** and save it (let's name it 'Kongregate_Linker' just for make the further steps easier). Try first with Option 1 and if at the end it doesn't work, then try the second:
**· Option 1:**
javascript:scripts=document.getElementsByTagName("script");for(var i=0; i<scripts.length;i++){script_text=scripts[i].text;if (script_text.indexOf("swfurl")!== -1){url_text=String(script_text.match(/swfurl\"\:\"(.*?)\"\,\"flashvars/g));game_url=decodeURIComponent(url_text.substring(9,url_text.length-12));alert(game_url);exit;};};>
**· Option 2:**
javascript:scripts=document.getElementsByTagName("script");for(var i=0; i<scripts.length;i++){script_text=scripts[i].text;if (script_text.indexOf("game_swf")!== -1){url_text=String(script_text.match(/game_swf\"\:\"(.*?)\"\,\"game_url/g));game_url=decodeURIComponent(url_text.substring(17,(url_text.length/2)-11));alert(game_url);exit;};};>
**2)** Open a new FireFox window and navigate to the Kongregate game you are interested in. After waiting to finish all adds, the main frame where the game should be displayed shows instead the screen of SuperNova Player installation advice. Right click in any part of that frame and select the 'open in a new tab' option.
**3)** In this new tab, go to the bookmarks option and click on the new bookmark that we have just created ('Kongregate_Linker'). On screen you will see a text dialogue that **displays the link of the .swf file game**. As mentioned by **[RainyShadow](/forums/1/topics/1938099?page=1#13574855)**, check if in that link appears something like 'GameShell'. If that's the case, repeat step 1) by choosing the other option.
**4)** In my case, for the game Protector III (of the Protector series), the message displayed was **chat.kongregate.com/gamez/0004/4833/live/protector_3_22maps_Secure.swf?kongregate_game_version=1287497319** (note that there is not a http:// or https:// part).
**5)** Now, we can move to another webdriver like Chrome or Microsoft Egde ot just continue with Firefox. In the search field of a new window we write **supernova://play/?swfurl=http://** (note that is http:// and not https://) followed by the link we got from the step 4). In my case was this:
**supernova://play/?swfurl=http://chat.kongregate.com/gamez/0004/4833/live/protector_3_22maps_Secure.swf?kongregate_game_version=1287497319**
**6)** If the SuperNova Player is succesfully installed this should work, as it did for me and so many users around here.
Sorry for the large text but maybe this is neccessary. Hope you enjoy and find this useful!

That is because SuperNova wasn't developed yet for the Mac ([link that shows this](https://www.getsupernova.com/download/)). I am not sure it ever will as I have not seen any updates/messages from the SuperNova developer in quite a long time.

Pretty unfortunate that we can't play some of these windowed games in fullscreen. A lot of the older ones actually look worse windowed.

That is the way the games were designed. Super Nova is only playing them in the ratio and dimentions that htey were coded in. You can try to change the resolution of your screen.

Good news, some of these windowed games have been recreated, redesigned and rewritten in fullscreen. You can spend money to play these on Steam or any other money spending places.

As I remeber there were many games that were written with a window-size of null, so what does Super Nova default to?

I have supernova installed and running; is there a way to play .swf files directly from hardrive though? I have several clean copies of the swf object to play through multiple times. I have already tried finding the supernova executable by diving aroud in both programfiles folders as well as Roaming folder but I cannot find the dang thing to set the "open with" default.

can't you open task-manager while it's running? (it should have a command-path column from which you can write it down)

Check **%LocalAppData%\TacticsTechnology\SuperNova\ ** for the executables.
I couldn't get Supernova to open local content, neither through the file:// protocol, nor using standard paths.
You will have to run a web server, then open an address like **supernova://play/?swfurl=http://localhost/MyFlashGame.swf**
As alternative you can use the *Flash Player projector* to play both local (no server needed) and remote Flash games.
Both players place your save files in a location defined by the path to the game, so if you move the .SWF file, you will have to also move the .SOL file accordingly (or start fresh).

I've got the standalone Supernova flash player, but I've got a problem which inhibits playing of most older games. To add to this, the link Rainyshadow provided to get the Flash applet was taken down due to a DMCA claim, so I'm SOL on that.

From what i've read, this is just too complicated for a lot of people, myself included. That is, it's not enough just to add the extension and play the game as normal, you have to do a bunch of other things on top of that, inserting code and etc etc. I read Rainy's 'guide' and I read Pip's guide, and neither are very clear. In the two years since flash died, it's strange that no one has found a way to streamline SWF. I don't want to make a bookmark and troubleshoot http or https or insert a long line of code. I want to click a button and play games like I did before, and if I can't do that, then I guess I won't be playing.

The main issue comes from Kong reworking the game pages for Supernova (whose development looks to have stalled) and breaking compatibility with the native Flash player. If they hadn't done this, you would have just had to keep a copy of Flash-enabled browser and play in it like it's 201x.
There are some extensions, workarounds, etc. which allow you to easily play Flash content on **other**, unmodified sites.
There are also other gaming sites, which kept Flash working by different means.
Unfortunately, Kong decided to put **all** its eggs in the Supernova basket, and **it failed big time**.
What i tried to provide is nothing more than a workaround.
If you want easy, hassle-free gaming, you should forget about Flash games on Kong - either stick to JS games, or play elsewhere.
