# TL/DR - I am just got here...
Please see this post for a browser extension a user created to solve most problems here

----------------------------
In an intrest of reducing the volume of duplicate threads, I am posting (what I think to be) a list of any and all issuse and complaints with the current functonality around Flash now that Adobe (the vendor) has flipped the Killswitch on it.
I will try to keep this top thread updated.
* If you have an issue that is not here, please PM me (and ideally link to a thread created for it, which hopfully has as much specifics as possible).
* If you have evidence that shows an issue is fixed, please PM me.
* If you believe you have good testing data/cause-effect data to share, please PM me (well... you can also send to support@kongregate.com or an admin, but they are busy and I am happy to work as a filter).
# Summary of Issues
(Condensed list of what I believe to be the core issues that the others stem from)
* I can play [Cube Escape games](https://www.kongregate.com/games/RustyLake/cube-escape-the-cave) on this site... but few other games. Other players seem to have the exact same problem. I am not sure what is different about Cube Escape games (there are other games too, this is just the example I have been using) vs most of the Flash games on this site, but I expect it is the obfiscation and security that GetSuperNova has aluded to that might not work.
* In addition, games that use Cloud Save (such as BTD5) don't seem to work (same with games that rely on getting the current time over the Cloud).
* Finally, kred purchases only seem to work in a fraction of flash games. This includes registring the premium content already purchased (such as with Kingdom Rush). This seems to be the same problem why Flash games can't register badges or new high scores. Fundamentally, the Kong API doesn't seem to work through SuperNova.
These seem to be the current summary (consolidated list) of the big issues. I am not sure there is an ETA that I am aware of to fix any of these issues. I know that Kong is working to see what can be done. I know that GetSuperNova (the SuperNova developer) is working hard to make changes to accomidate these as well.
# Unsolved issues
**(NOTE: These are not necessarly issues with SuperNova. It might be Kong's implementation of it or something specific that Kong is doing or not doing... such as failing to pass a paramater to SuperNova... that is causing the issue).**
1. ~~FIXED~~ There are some users that are using an old version of flash (before v32 where the killswitch was coded in). They want to play with that version. However Kongregate doesn't seem to allow this and forces the use of SuperNova or nothing. Said another way, it assumes that the only available option is SuperNova and checks only for that. Suggestions is to 1.) check for working Flash solution. If no then 2.) Check for SuperNova. If not then 3.) Present error message encouring the use of SuperNova [(link to an example thread)](https://www.kongregate.com/forums/7-technical-support/topics/1933689-please-do-not-block-non-windows-browsers-without-supernova-player) **NOTE**: there might be a fix coming soon to try and help with this [(citation see 2nd paragraph)](https://www.kongregate.com/forums/7-technical-support/topics/1873379-supernova-player?page=3#posts-13561908) **NOTE 2** It seems that Kongregate has gotten more agressive on this (vs closer to a fix). Specifically games that did work "post-kill-switch" on Jan 13 no longer work on Jan 14. [(link to an example thread)](https://www.kongregate.com/forums/7-technical-support/topics/1933751-kongregate-misidentifies-browser-as-blocking-flash#posts-13562098). **NOTE 3** The fix that was communicated for this on Sat Jan 16 doesn't seem to work (see the posts on the 2nd page of this thread for details).
2. Multi-user games (those hosted on external sites but played here) don't work well. It gives an error similar to "This build of <insert game here> can only be played on Kongregate.com. Please visit the site to play the game". [(link to an example thread)](https://www.kongregate.com/forums/7-technical-support/topics/1873379-supernova-player?page=3#posts-13561882) **NOTE**: there has been progress on this Friday Jan 15 (many multiplayer games that didn't work now do). However there are still some to be fixed [(citation)](https://www.kongregate.com/forums/7-technical-support/topics/1873379-supernova-player?page=4#posts-13562298)
3. Badges aren't awarded if SuperNova is used. NOTE: Badges of the Day are awarded fine if you have the badge already. However, if you don't have a badge currently and earn it while playing via SuperNova, the badge doens't award. [(link to an example thread)](https://www.kongregate.com/forums/1-kongregate/topics/1933704-no-badges). **NOTE:** Kongregate is adjusting BotD so that flash games aren't going to come up. ([citation](https://www.kongregate.com/forums/1-kongregate/topics/1932722-update-regarding-botds-1-23-the-future-of-flash-games-on-kongregate#posts-13564980))
4. Some single player games are unable to load. They load forever (ie BTD5 loads over 100% and keeps going). [(link to an example thread)](https://www.kongregate.com/forums/7-technical-support/topics/1932752-allow-game-data-to-be-transferred#posts-13561897)
5. SuperNova only seems to work on Chrome or Edge (***EDIT*** - and now FireFox, but FF only in Windows). ~~However, there is something in the works to try to get it to work on FireFox~~. iOS, Chromebooks, and Linux enviornments seem to be out of luck currently. [(link to an example thread)](https://www.kongregate.com/forums/1-kongregate/topics/1932722-the-future-of-flash-games-on-kongregate#posts-13561575)
6. McAfee (and perhaps some other security companies) consider Supernova's implementation in breach of security standards and therefore have blocked Supernova as a trojan horse application [(link to an example thread)](https://www.kongregate.com/forums/7-technical-support/topics/1873379-supernova-player?page=1#posts-13541665) **NOTE**: This has been reported for whitelisting on some services [(citation)](https://www.kongregate.com/forums/7-technical-support/topics/1873379-supernova-player?page=2#posts-13561666)
7. Some flash games simply do not work with SuperNova (specifically those with sitelocking and obfuscation features). Note this might be the cause of the issues reported with BTD5... or not. [(link to an example thread)](lhttps://www.kongregate.com/forums/7-technical-support/topics/1873379-supernova-player?page=2#posts-13561663)
8. There was a report of a user that WAS able to use SuperNova while the site was down and while being presented with a "while you wait" game. However, after maintenance was over, he was NOT able to then play the same game on its game page. [(link to an example thread)](https://www.kongregate.com/forums/1-kongregate/topics/1933628-the-supernova-extension-thing?page=2#posts-13561693)
9. Some users are getting time related errors with some games (Cloud-syncing games... Realm Grinder and Get a Little Gold). For example: "Cannot validate Time.Server Time is no time loaded.Adjust your local time settings and refresh the page". [(link to an example thread)](https://www.kongregate.com/forums/7-technical-support/topics/1873379-supernova-player?page=3#posts-13561793)
10. There are users that are reporting that their game's saved state is not kept. This is likly due to the many different locations that .sol files were kept across different browsers and OS combos. I am not sure where SuperNova looks for it, but if this can be shared, users can copy their directory with their .sol files to this one to recover much or most of their lost game saved state data.
11. Adblocker doesn't seem to work alongside SuperNova [(link to an example thread)](https://www.kongregate.com/forums/7-technical-support/topics/1873379-supernova-player?page=3#posts-13561942)
12. Similar to #9 (inability to time-sync over the cloud), it seems that SuperNova also does not work well with cloud saved data files. [(link to an example thread)](https://www.kongregate.com/forums/7/topics/1873379?page=3#posts-13561815)
13. The SuperNova screen is small and can't be resized. [(link to an example thread)](https://www.kongregate.com/forums/7-technical-support/topics/1933893-about-those-last-2-botd)
14. Kred purchases don't work and premium content in games like Kingdom Rush do not work. This is highly likly to be caused by the same issue as #3 (badges not awarding) as both are controled via the Kong API.
15. SuperNova always loads into the same window. This means you can't play two flash games at the same time (as the second loads into the window the 1st was using). [citation](https://www.kongregate.com/forums/7/topics/1933753?page=3#posts-13566858)
# Fixed Issues:
* ~~Issue #1 doesn't seem to be fixed for all cases. I am leaving the partial fix data below, but marking it still an issue above.~~
FIXED HERE:

> Archerbob, the option is now available to use a browser plugin, if you are able to somehow despite the kill switch.
> Click "more options" on the Supernova Install Screen, and you can access it.
And more information here:
> *Originally posted by **[getsupernova](/forums/7/topics/1933753?page=2#13562878)**:*
> Regarding #1, we updated this morning again to support more browsers withthe "more options" button, as it wasn't showing in Firefox before.
> Yes, you can go back to the original browser SWF Embed using this option. Please look for this option again on the install screen on the BOTTOM RIGHT CORNER.
I was able to click on this myself and enable Flash (without having installed SuperNova on the PC). Upon refresh, you might have to choose the option again though.

Added "NOTE 2" under "Issue 1" that indicates Kongregate has gotten more agressive vs closer to a solution today. It seems that "simple" (which here means "locally played") games that used to work yesterday no longer work today (SuperNova banner). MMO games seem to still work though.

I'm just as upset as everyone else about the EOL of Flash, but you have to understand that Kongregate is forcing Flash games to be broken because Flash is already dangerous to use on any site (it's also not very good). Now that it's literally NEVER recieving security updates it makes YOU the player more vulnerable. Just like the creators of the Playstation 1, Playstation 2, Nintendo 64, Xbox 360, etc... Developers are moving onto more reliable game creating platforms like Unity for example. Developers have been warned for about 3 years or even longer that Flash was going to be unsupported at some point and had plenty of time to look for alternatives, yet many didn't... This is Kongregate's fault though isn't it? Hmmm..... Considering that Kongregate supports Unity games I don't really understand the problem or the logic... Also Kartridge is a thing too, and Steam is... What is the arguement here? There is none... There has been plenty of time to switch from Flash game developing to an alternative... So explain to me why people are complaining instead of accepting the fact that there are much better alternatives to Flash that they can use???

Because in some specific instances, Kong isn't letting our user accounts be transfered off (SuperMechs) to the main-site where it can be played without flash. So in these cases, there is a solution, but Kong is the one holding the players up. And I get it, moving the accounts means people aren't logging into Kong for that game anymore, but right now, we still aren't logging into Kong because its broken. Rather than let the players "win" here, Kong is causing everyone to lose.

I mostly play 8-13 years old games in browser tab. I prefer not to be forced to install new piece of software such as supernova, that I don't known. I still have working flash player. It is disabled by default adn this is safe enough for me. I paid for kong plus to play old flash games without adds, so there is no reson for me to be happy about kongregate forced supernova switch. // As for Ad.10 I tested It and you can just search and see where you have old and new *.sol files, and restore progres by repleacing new sol with old one.

eh Serialkiller, i can't install Katridge or Supernova because they got same msg, is not a valid win32 application. Probably it didn't support old OS or may be the app didn't support 32 bit. I can't run Unity WebGL too because old pc. I think Katridge is the best way to play old games from kong, but sadly idk how to solve the error not a valid win32 app without buying new pc, new OS.

I have been using Flash for about 20 years and have 'never' had any problems with it security/game wise. Now I will not be able to play any of my games on Kongregate or other sites. Not happy with the switch to SuperNova Player and it seems an awful lot of members have the same problem.

Clicking on 'sync now' does nothing. I still receive the same error message using Chrome and Supernova. 'Incorrect Clock Settings. Your offline gains could not be applied because of an issue with your system clock. Please ensure you have the correct timezone and sync your system clock before trying again'.
I live in Europe (UTC +1 Timezone). Would seem Supernova fails to account for people outside the USA.

I can't get anything to work on Supernova. It opens a new window, but all I get is a white screen after I click to play the game.
I can play the test game on the supernova site just fine, but none of the Kong games want to load.

All supernova does for me is provide a button to click on that says "play now", and then when I click on it, it says: "now playing rebuild 2!" or whatever game it is I wanted to play.
What I would like is if kongregate could categorize games that still work without flash so I could find something new to play, or just remove the non-functional games for good since it doesn't sound like it can be fixed

The browser extension works only for these two browsers, but the player itself works in more of them, like Firefox (well, it is supposed to and it does for me).

For those interested, on Windows 8.1 the SuperNova player saves the .sol files at the same location for all browsers I tried (Firefox, Chrome and Edge): the same one that is used by Firefox when using Flash player. Something important: one can even access their saves when playing in a private window (quite useful, I think).

Your router is most likely dangerous too, as well milions of other routers out there. Same goes for an enormous amount of connected devices. Guess what - 99.9% of those will **never receive an update**! Still, we continue to use them regardless, usually ignorant of the dangers.
As for the "much better alternatives to Flash", not everyone **can** use them, and when they can it's often not better at all.
In the meantime, i'd like to leave [this thingy i just found](https://archive.org/details/Firefox_Chrome_Adobe_Flash) here :D Hopefully it is useful to some.

Realm Grinder was now able to pull my save from the cloud but I get the adobe flash players settings popup that is asking me to give them access to kong but I'm unable to click on it. Earlier when the game couldn't connect to the cloud it started a new game but like now it didn't allow me to click on anything.

#1) You can now click "more options" in the bottom right corner and try to re-enable browser plugins.
#2) Multiplayer/networking is a work in progress, but dont expect 100%
#3) Will reach out to Kongregate to see if I can learn more about how to fix. May be same as #2
#4) Some of these are due to sitelocking or obfuscation. Its possible we may need the devs help in some cases to solve it, if they want to help
#5) Not true, Firefox works fine. But you need to be on windows. Supernova will probably never support ChromeOS, but its possible it may support MacOS if we get enough users/usage to warrant it.
#6) We submitted some forms to these companies, but ultimately its up to them if they are willing to help us.
#7) Same as #4
#8) This is probably because some of the games were not getting the correct SWF URL passed from Kongregates's implementation, due to them putting a wrapper around certain games. I bet the version presented during maintainence didnt have the wrapper so it worked. They are working on fixing this issue. When this issue happens, Supernova typically shows the wrapper URL: GameShell_4ef1b0e3533afbd9c353a999a01b4ee6.swf - example: https://www.kongregate.com/games/ArmorGames/sonny-2
#9) Same as multiplayer issues, these are networking related. We are working on it but dont expect 100%
#10) Researching with the team, will update this response.
#11) Not true, I tried AdBlockPlus. Please reconfirm which adblocker causes issue
#12) Networking related, same as #9 and #2, dont expect 100% to work.
#13) The games run in the size the developer designed the SWF. We don't have plans for fullscreen support at this time.

Regarding Issiue 10. In Windows Vista/7/8/10 SuperNova uses the folder C:\Users\[Your Profile]\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects\[Random Name]\chat.kongregate.com for kongregate save data. Most people having problems with their game's saved states probably need to copy their saves from the folder that Chrome uses C:\Users\[Your Profile]\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Pepper Data\Shockwave Flash\WritableRoot\#SharedObjects\[Random Name]\chat.kongregate.com .

No, thank you. I am not going to install Supernova and have it stuff up my otherwise perfectly working system. Get rid of the wrapper that obfuscates Flash.

Chances are if it doesn't work with ABP, it's their fault. Try manually allowing it - they probably think SuperNova is an ad.

Thank you so much for giving information, even as a dev of a fairly large game, Kong has absolutely refused to share anything with us.
We manage a game called SuperMechs on Kongregate, https://www.kongregate.com/games/Tacticsoft/supermechs, is there any chance you can give us a guess on wether it'll work after the next update or not? We're considering how we should proceed from here, we don't have that many kong players left anyhow, but the ones left are pretty passionate about the game.

This does not appear to be the case. There is no such link in the Supernova stub that Kongregate serves instead of games.
If you meant that the link is in the supernova player itself and that we need to install this software only to be able to go back to the browser to play Flash natively there, then that, with all due respect, would be silly and really not an option.
The #1 in the original post is about not blocking Flash in the browser when it would have otherwise worked (because it's an older version without the kill switch, or because the user has enabled Kongregate in the Flash enterprise policies).

Can't play Live Puzzle 2. Now it's just a black screen. I understand, the security issues with Flash, but what will it matter if so many people can't play so many games that Kongregate literally shuts down because of lack of people even coming here? Everyone should have ben given the option to keep using Flash or use Supernova, and let them decide their own fate. Is there eventually going to be enough fixes that every game can be played somehow, or will some games just simply be permanently told "too bad"?
