# 1. CHOSING THE NATION TO PLAY WITH
Unfortunately, nations are not balanced.
There are five viable nations to play with: Britain, France, Russia, Spain and USA.
Choosing any other nation increases the difficulty of the game.
**France: **
* one of the two best national line infantries;
* both national units are available with Barracks V;
* national bonus is something that is useful during events, but not as good as bonuses of some other nations
* use Imperial Guard for unique troops
* use Carl von Clauzewitz or Andrew Jackson as your hero
* good choice for a beginner player
**Britain: **
* best national mortarmen in the game, but quite weak national line infantry
* you need to have Barracks V (for Scottish riflemen) and Artillery Depot II (for British grenadiers) to get both national units
* the best national bonus in the early and mid-game, probably until and well after you reach level 40
* use British grenadiers as the first two unique troops
* use Carl von Clauzewitz or Andrew Jackson as your hero
* good choice for a beginner player
**Russia:**
* one of the two best national line infantries;
* both national units are available with Barracks V;
* national bonus is helpful to keep your level low, but nothing spectacular
* use Preobrazhensky regiment for unique troops
* use Carl von Clauzewitz or Andrew Jackson as your hero
* good choice for a beginner player
**Spain:**
* both national units are available with Barracks V;
* national bonus is helpful to keep your level low, but nothing spectacular
* use Valencian fusiliers for unique troops
* use Robert E. Lee as your hero
* if you have chosed Royal Guard, or combination of Royal Guard and Valencian fusiliers for unique troops, then use Carl von Clauzewitz or Andrew Jackson as your hero
* good choice for an intermediate or advanced player
**USA:**
* solid national line infantry;
* the best national light infantry;
* both national units are available with Barracks V;
* national bonus comes into play quite late in the game, approximately around level 20+ you start to see some difference
* use Marines for unique troops
* use Carl von Clauzewitz or Andrew Jackson as your hero
* good choice for a beginner or intermediate player
* if you have chosen Minutemen as unique troops, then use Joakim Murat or Peter Wittgenstein as your hero, and this is a choice for advanced players

2. **DO NOT INVEST SCIENCE POINTS IN MILITARY RESEARCH.**
AI opponent gets the benefit of your reasearch too.
AI will get your technology for free.
The more points you put into researching military technology the harder the game becomes, especially if you plan to do the events, which something I highly recommend.
Maxed out research makes the game almost unplayable.
3. ** DO NOT SPEND GOLD ON ANYTHING EXCEPT HIRING A GENERAL OR CONVERTING GOLD TO SCIENCE.**
Be patient.
I know it is tempting to spend Gold to speed up building, training, buy additional orders etc., but just don't do it.
This game is very long and requires patience.
4. **FIRST THING TO RESEARCH AND BUILD IS THE TAX COLLECTOR.**
Tax Collector brings gold coins equal to its level every 24h. But it costs a lot of science points.
It is the MOST IMPORTANT BUILDING in the game.
Your Tax Collector should always match the level of your Town Hall (except when you have just upgraded your Town Hall).
5. **KEEP YOUR LEVEL AS LOW AS POSSIBLE.**
There is no need to build everything.
Higher your level, higher the opponent level.
PvP has following level legaues or brackets: 0-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40
Higher your level, the more difficult PvE becomes.
PvE has following level legaues or brackets: 10-25, 26-35, 36-40
There is a so-called sweet spot for PvE, which is level 24-25.
You are advanced enough to have resources required to complete an event, and your army is upgraded and numerous, but the events are still tailored towards low level players.
You should expoit this level as much as possible.
Build what you absolutely need and *when* you need it - town hall, warehouses, tax collector, barracks, stables, atrtillery depot, defenses, dwelling houses, tavern, arsenal, diplomatic centre, academy.
Everything else can wait, e.g. additional levels of mines.
Tax Collector, Fortifications in your defense Academy, Military Academy, don't provide any experience points and you want to have them upgraded as much as possible.
6. **USE UNIQUE TROOPS FOR SIEGES.**
Uniques troops are the only troops that you don't have to produce and therefore waste resources.
At the start they are weak, so they require some support.
As the time progresses you'll equip them and make them stronger.
You should choose your national unit to be unique.
One way to train unique troops is to assign them Captain, Drummer and Standard bearer and send them to attack an AI, without any equipment and without any support - completely alone.
They will lose and end up in the Hospital.
However, they will gain experience points, and since you've lost you won't get any XP for your account.

7. **MAX UNIT LEVEL IS 12 FOR NON-NATIONAL UNIQUES AND GENERALS.
MAX UNIT LEVEL IS 5 FOR NATIONAL UNITS**
Uniques gain EXP in each battle which is equal to *TWICE* the number of enemies they kill. Each level they attain makes them slightly stronger.
Level 12 line infantry or heavy cavalry, fully equipped can wipe out pretty much everything,* if you followed rule No. 1.*
Level 5 national unit can be even stronger than level 12 non-national unit.
Generals get 1 EXP for each victory, it doesn't matter if they survive or not.
Generals, if they die spend level x 2hours in hospital to recover.
Try to match the general to nation, untis you are using and your play style.
Usually it is better to pick national units as uniques, to get all-round uniques that can take part in sieges and in events too.
Some players prefer to use cavalry uniques to do as many sieges as possible, but this leads to increasing your level too fast, and not being able to do events, since in the current meta, cavalry is not that strong.
Generaly, use national units and avoid cavalry, unless you really know what you are doing. In that case, this small suide is something you don't need.
8. ** DON'T RUSH TO COMPLETE ALL THE QUESTS.**
Lot of quests that are offfered cost more than they offer as a prize and completing them will actually slow you down.
9. **UPGRADE TOWNHALL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.**
Increasing level of the townhall allows you to open more slot for unique units.
That is the most important goal for you until you have unlocked all five unique slots.
Townhall upgrades also let you build stronger and better defense structures for defending your town.
10. **EARNING GOLD**
*Banker*
When you save up to 30 gold coins you can hire a Banker from Citizens tab in the Tavern. You have to build Tavern first.
An NPC in a green coat will appear in your city.
Every 24 hours above his head there will be icon of a gold coin. When you click it you'll get 3 gold coins.
Banker cost 30 gold coins and lasts 15 days, therefore giving you 45 gold coins, or 50% profit on your investment of 30 gold coins. Rinse and repeat.
*Quests*
Some quest give gold coins as a prize, e.g. hiring a hero/general from tavern.
*Event*
If you earn enough battle glory points during weekly rating and end up in places 1-10 in the top list you get some amount of gold coins.
Some other events give gold coins as a prize, too.
11. **BATTLE GLORY POINTS**
Battle glory points are awarded for winning in sieges against real players ONLY.
You can get +25, +20, +15, +10 batlle glory points, for winning, depending on your current battle glory and battle glory of an opponent.
You can also lose battle glory when someone successfully sieges your city, or if you lose when attacking someone else.
Each win in a siege, against real player or AI bot, gives you 5 XP points, too.
This will increase your level in time.
12. **INSIGNIAS/MEDALS/EVENT COINS**
During weekly event for winning missions in the event you can get some amount of insignias.
You can use these insignia to buy stuff (e.g. NPCs, units, orders) from the event shop.
Event shop is available only during an event. What you don't buy will not be available for purchase anymore.
However, if a reward from an event is a statue and you purchase it, but you don't fully upgrade it during an event, it is possible to upgrade the statue at a later time.
For instance, you have managed to get enough insignia to purchase level 1 of a statue from an event shop.
After the event ends, you are still able to upgrade the statue to a higher level, if you have enough insignia.
*NOTE*: The Deer sometimes gives insignia for the statues you have purhcased, but still haven't fully upgraded.
# Part 4 * version 0.6 2020-04-11 *
1. **DO NOT WASTE ORDERS**
There are seven orders you can use in game, during a battle (siege, campaign mission, event mission, survival, etc.):
Maneuver, Artillery strike, Artillery bombardment, Bandage, Defense, Melee, Volley
You get orders as a reward for quests or you can make them yourself in the Arsenal, if you have enough components for an order.
Components for an order and sometimes an order are awarded for winning sieges, event missions, campaign missions, etc.
At the beginning you will think you have plenty of orders, but use them scarsely and only when neccessary.
If you don't save them up, you'll soon run of orders, and then you'll understand just how important they are.
2. **DAILY TASKS**
Daily Tasks are a good way to get resources, orders and premium troops.
If your abilities allow, you should do them, but don't build structures that will give you experience points, just to be able to complete a daily task.
Same wisdom that is applicable to quests is valid for daily tasks.
Daily tasks depend on your level - the lower the level the easier the task, but in turn the lower the reward is.
Around level 29-30 you might even get veteran units as a reward for completing a daily task.
*NOTE:* If you complete the seventh daily task and reload the page, the weekly timer resets, so you have the possibility to do two daily tasks in one day.
3. **ASK IN CHAT.**
Game community is very friendly and helpful.
4. **FRIENDS IN WARBANNER.**
You can add friends by clicking on a player in the chat and then clicking *Add Friend* option.
You can set your frineds as officers for your unique troops or ask them for silver, town blueprints and reinforcements for your garisson.
You cannnot attack your friends - friends that are in your level legaue will not be shown on the map, **but they can attack you**, unless they have also befriended you.
5. **JOIN A CLAN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.**
Prizes for clan wars are very good and by far outweigh the investment.
