Assuming you are using kill with a longsword/claymore, disable is another instant win chance that is not halved on combo strikes.

But it is a 10% chance after a 1% chance per level so its still 1/5th the chance of kill. eg. lvl 20 kill matchups vs lvl 20 disarm matchups vs lvl 20 disable with best matchup.
Kill with a wrong weapon(X1.0), combo(X0.5) and vs an armored foe(X0.5) would be 5% chance of instant win.
Kill with an appropriate weapon(X2), not combo(X1) and vs an unarmored foe(X1) would be a 40% chance of instant win.
Disarm against a non-fencer(X1) would be a 10% chance of instant win.
Disarm against a fencer(X2) would be a 20% chance of instant win.
Disable with an appropriate weapon(X2) vs an unarmored foe(X1) is 40% chance to proc then 10% of that for instant win so 4% chance.
So even at its worst, kill and disarm are still better chance than disable at its best, if you take the double battle points and double capture % in consideration it would only be slightly better than a worst case kill.

Also, as far I could could gather, Kill is the best skill in this event. Say you're using Disarm. Best case scenario, you get 1% for insta win per level against fencers. Against everyone else, it's 0,5%. Using kill however, if you've got a claymore or longsword (I personally mess around with dual claymore (for the double kill chance and att bonuses)/short sword(to balance out the claymor enegative hit stats) blitz here), that's 2% chance for insta win per level. Worst case scenario, if you end up combo attacking AND the enemy uses plates, it's down to 0,5% per level, which is basically Disarm's best proc chance. At last, Disarm will never be better than kill if you use a claymore or longsword, seeing as how no fencer uses plate in thie event.

Disarm counts as two wins though so if you're way outclassing your opponents it will let you burn through them much faster

I think all of above is wrong because it ignores the requirement 'to the head' and 'to the body' . I don't think this is 50%-50%. But I could nowhere find a description how this is supost to be distributed.

Yeah, this event seems to be either "play normal and struggle till end of january to complete the event", or "realize this fact and finish event map in one week" ;)

I think switching from Courage to Resilience (and a point or three in vigilance) on some of the Master fights is still worth doing.

lol, have you tried tenacity? level that and it's a one hit kill every time regardless of where you hit. tenacity, courage, awareness is what you need.

I found a use for disarm - I used only that, awareness, and courage and beat all of the event. Use a fencing form with rapier and cloth shirt. You do virtually no damage except for crit hits, but usually within 6 fast hits you disarm your opponent and win.

Supposedly "vs fencing" is supposed to say "with fencing". That's what I was told anyway. Pretty major error.
So it actually makes disarm somewhat decent both in and out of event battles, at least if you're a blitz player and aren't switching to barrage any time soon.
Outside of the event battles itself, I'm not sure if barrage with kill (with something like Drevon and James, and maybe dual wield claymore, targetting yellow targets which never wear plate/chain) is better than blitz with disarm (with rivals Ward and Greg, cloth armor and SS/rapier, against blue). I've been told it's still not better if you're not above around 1000, although I'm not sure if it's been fully verified from vigorous testing considering the new event benefits. I suppose that the amount of BP one has available to spend would play a factor as well.

You can get thirty points in disarm for, what, one point in tenacity?
Worth keeping that in mind when making these calculations. Also, Disarm still gets you twice as much prrogress per win as a tenacity based kill does.

I wish I had actually looked at the forums stuggle for 16 days while having 18 levels in each thing. Check forums and then clear the rest of the event in 10 minutes...

Guard + Shield + Shortsword + Bleed is the quickest and safest way to actually serial-kill Reds ( and more ) inside and outside the event,
if you have enough Def to last until you hit and rival dries.
After that, even with 2% Att, 2% Hit, 2%Def, ridiculous Hp and damage:
Kill + Longsword/Claymore will defeat any rival, sometime...

I can confirm that in red-only places, Guard+Shield+armingSword+Bleed/Resiliance makes for an effective counter. Sure, you could grind to the point where you could beat them all by disarming as well.. but as the event rewards consistancy with win%, Bleed procs 4 times as often and only needs to proc once to win with that build.

You got it @truewolves, I just sticked to shortsword for the +20hit, +20def and +4%crit bonus for that build.
