Let's say you're like me. Obviously you're not, as chances are you do not joyfully wiggle-waggle pantless in the fuddy-duddley, but let's suppose for a few minutes that your brain is just as rad and fried as mine. You see those fellas dressed in red and say hey, why not stack up defend like a mother lover and sod em all with fancy counter attacks? Gotta be a man of steel, just like Shaq baby, shove the family up your arse. But then enemies get around a hundred levels on you because even with the sickest bonuses to experience gain, the pacing is bound to get slower the more you level up. So what happens is our build blows worse than our beloved yet unboneable small-mouthed and sharp-toothed women, because it doesn't just take ages for us to win a match, our special move is useless without a substantial bonus to hit. 40% attack after a succesful counter, yeah noice, but that aint happenin past the point of screw you, disciple, your hit chance on guard is a miserable two percent. Get the picture, or should I get even moar pornographic and descend into the anals of this issue? Don't let it be anal, real tough to get in there y'know. Do not sleep on this or you might wake up to a sore asshole name of Bruce, real formidable chap. But as I was saying, bonuses to attack are wasted on skills that aim for a defensive build, it's just dumb. Not dissing the devs or anything, just stating the fact that it's pretty fukkin dumb; it does nothing. If I'm going into guard it's most likely because Bruce goes full on barrage when waving his paenus at me and I have to protect my virginity. No way in hell I'm beating his over nine thousand gayness, but I can block his meaty thrust and bring him down to his knees. So gimmie moar hit so I don't have to spend +10 minutes locked in a stamina-draing ordeal with this touchy fruit, k? Starting to doubt my life m8, not cool.

You have a valid point, it's just with a wall of text like that(fun as it may be), I almost went "LOL DID NOT READ(starts twirling lightsabers). But lets be honest here... If you are gonna go with Guard stance games will last a long ass time. I don't even know if swiching the 40% attack to a hit bonus would even be signifficant.

Let's see, I reckon the average end-game player should be averaging aroung 6-7k hit on levels 900 upwards (before them unspent cross-fitting skill pants masteries from rivals). So even if my math is as retarded as it gets, I know forty percent is almost half of that. It doesn't automatically turn you into Jason Bourne, but hell, wouldn't it be nice to score a counter at least two times out of ten? I mean, the attack bonus from sword and shield is a mere 20% and it still gets me into the offensive half of the time, so 40% hit for counter attacks should get you laid every once in a while.

afaik the bonus is additive percentage to your attack, not at all based around your stats. In other words it'll occassionally let you make a normal attack as a guard stance player, something which would normally only happen 2% of the time.
Watch the stats page when you make a counterattack, specifically your attack % next to the attack value.

I think you're correct, but you'd still want hit in that case becouse you don't want your counter attacks to miss.

Yeah, but you always want hit. Effectively what this does for a Guard build is that it increases the amount of attacks you make by roughly 40% (since ~40% of your counters turn into regular attacks), which just means more chances to hit your opponent.

The event makes this guard build more viable. Just level up bleed to max.

Way off. You only get that 40% attack after landing a counter attack. so 2% of the time you get a 42% chance of an extra strike.AKA, you get an extra 21 attacks for every 2500 counter attacks.

Except a normal attack can proc both power attack (for 3 times the damage of a counter attack if it connects) and combo attack(for 6 times the chances to hit and inflict whatever status effects you're packing) making the attack bonus an effective "counter+" for later game guard builds.
