We've recently received some complaints about the Reaper ruining the game. But I've also heard people say that using the Reaper to kill other monsters is their favorit part of the game.
What do you think? Should the Reaper be changed?

Nah, it's ok. Just another challenge. How can one lil thing "ruin" the game? Game provides a lot of possibilities to kite or make use of the Reaper.

The Reaper is fine the way it is.

After the Reaper buff, I always killed it on the spot (but also, I've been playing a lot more safely because of tournaments). Given the choice between
- carefully dragging the Reaper to another room, hoping that it respawns on the required side of the room and getting it to kill a target
- killing the reaper on the spot, easily clearing the room and gaining better mobility throughout the ruins
the second option is just a no-brainer. It's too difficult to explore with the Reaper around, and then it's hard to find a target worth reaping. Most of the time the monster order works against you and you have to actually stop your target to let it get hit, which ends up with you taking damage fighting it and then having to deal with a reaper right next to you. *Edit: Or you could only use it for missile and spell enemies, which is even worse.*
Simply put, the opportunities to use the reaper are usually bad ones, and the current balance of (kill reaper) vs (juggle monsters and then kill reaper) is highly unfavorable for it.

Only time I bother doing that is if I have the elf and the reaper spawns where a boss is (especially the mummy) in that situation dragging it around could work. Mostly though just killing it on the spot seems to be the way to go

The reaper is like a mobile worm on steriods. It is fun to lure it around and have him clear rooms for you, but the more dangerous he is, the risker that option is. Like some have noted, it is simply the safer (and thus, the more prudent option) to try and remove him from play soonest possible, where it might be safer than trying to content with it and a slew of other monsters. At +6, it is not the most difficult target to hit, although his untlimited attack bonus is more than a little intimidating.
It neither breaks nor makes the game, and having or removing is of little difference, imho. It adds another randomness to the game, that some likes, and other do not.

Anyone know why the reaper does 2 points of damage to the elf?

The elf loses 2 if she had 2 points at the time. If she were injured down to 1, she'd only lose 1.
Here's the news post that came with that update:
