Under rating threshold (show) @digitelanimefan: It would be hard to put Minerbot on phones, for a bunch of reasons. Performance-wise, this game is very slow--the original engine code was written during an 48hr game competition. The interface would also require some significant changes to fit on a cell phone, too. I'll try to keep cell phones/mobile devices in mind when making the sequel though, would be neat to show my friends my game on the go. :)

Under rating threshold (show) @OliverHume: Except that the point of the time limit is to KEEP you from mining up the entire field. Otherwise, it'd be way too easy. I would argue for some alternate game modes though, and perhaps one of those could have no time limit, alongside some other goal/limiter/obstacle.

Under rating threshold (show) I kept wanting to mine the whole field as was frustrated by the time limit. Could there be some other goal? For example listing how much of each colour there is and having to mine a certain percentage of it? There being a penalty to mining white? Not sure about the opposing force idea.

Under rating threshold (show) @an alien and crippled127 he wasn't comparing the two he was telling viking 99 that they are nothing alike. His comment here "ladies and gentlemen, crafters and creepers. GRAB YOUR DIAMOND PICKAXES! WERE GOING TO GO KILL THIS IMPOSTER!"

Under rating threshold (show) It's too easy to mine out virtually the whole field thus the game involves little skill or planning. There's no real excitement in finding a pool of valuable minerals since you usually end up firing collectors at pretty much anything that's more than a few px in size anyway; and then if you find something that small you don't collect it regardless of its value. Another issue is scoring is 99% luck. Unless a player is horrible at this, he can get on a good map more than anybody will get on a bad map, no matter how skilled they are. If you want to be in the top 100, just restart a lot and only play maps that seem promising (i.e. lots of red/yellow ores) Overall the game is promising though, and hopefully the sequel will fix these issues.

Under rating threshold (show) Don't think I don't know Pachelbel's Canon when I hear it. I'm onto you. >.> Anyway, I can't quite justify four stars, but I am enjoying the game. I'll echo everyone else who is waiting eagerly to see how you expand the game in the future, because you are definitely onto something, and this is a very promising franchise, as it were.

Under rating threshold (show) This is such a fantastic game. Not because it's very driven, but because it's very relaxed and simple. Colorful and slow paced, it's a nice break from not just other terrible games, but just a nice way to forget about things that are bothering you. Listen to the fantastic soundtrack and take a break with Minerbot!

Under rating threshold (show) Oh my god, this has to be the first time in ages I've played a game just to play a game. No achievements, no points, no grind. Just playing because its fun. I fear for my free time if this developer DOES make a level-based version of this game.

Under rating threshold (show) A nice start. Some ideas: Add gems that can only be harvested by the main controller itself. Add a counter or some indicator of how many free harvesters are available. Give some one-use items either at certain score points or else after retrieving something special (quick collect harvester, super drill, white destroyer, etc.)

Under rating threshold (show) @31eee384 Wow, what a great developer. The game and any future game will probably be really good, considering this. Also, he's reponsed to a lot of our questions and comments. For example, my suggestions, an alien's "hacked score question", answering kazejin. That shows a good developer. You sir, deserve a cookie, but since that doesn't describe the awesomeness of you, here's a keg of beer instead. I'm vouching for you to be an amazing developer. Oh, and fan'd.

Under rating threshold (show) Yep, that score is definitely hacked. Keep in mind also that there are two categories: total points accumulated (across all games you've played) and maximum points mined in a single round.

Under rating threshold (show) If you need to harvest a MASSIVE chunk of ore, fire several harvesters into it. Be sure to aim for the center of the mass as best as you can, which is usually better achieved if you plow into it a few feet first.

Under rating threshold (show) Needs some reason to play :O Or should I say, stop playing. While digging itself is pleasant, there is nothing to aim for(ok, highscores, dependant on how lucky is your field).

Under rating threshold (show) Meh, it's okay. Not what I would call an amazing game, but at least it wasn't TERRIBLE. It's pretty fun and amusing; a good time-waster, but overall it's just not compelling enough for me to really want to play it lots and get a 4-million high score like that lifeless zombie codkey :/ 3/5.

May. 07, 2011

Under rating threshold (show) @EspenLeeTennant, DragonArcherZ: I'm actually planning on making a sequel/remake that follows the popular Flash game concept play->upgrade->play->upgrade. This includes a complete redesign of the graphics as well, which means I will actually be able to put textures on the ores. Probably going to put in some sort of opposing force, too, to make it more challenging.

Under rating threshold (show) I like it. A few suggestions would be adding a level system, perhaps having to collect a certain amount of a color of or. A better one would be the same timed system for levels, and then recieving money for upgrades (traveling faster through white rock, having extra collectors, etc.).

Under rating threshold (show) Pretty fun, if you make a sequel, put some more replay value, so upgrades, level editor possibly, maybe something so it doesn't feel like my eye is having a seizure - change the rainbow colours, 4/5. Awesome plan, smooth execution.
