If you get the first house upgrade (it's $250), it'll generate 0.5 cans without using money. It would probably be best to get it before you get the labeler so you don't run into the 'no boxes, no cash, no cans' problem.

You can break your game, if you run out of money and have no boxes for sale, and not enough money to make cans....not sure if this intentional but it is certainly annoying
