Love the concept of Missile Command meets War of the Worlds. Unfortunately, the dual guns are a pain to aim, even when taking into account the strategy that you need to coordinate your firing of both guns together at times, and switching to a single cannon to focus on one rogue lander pod at others. Plus, the collision detection of my bullets could use some work. It sure is frustrating seeing my bullets go so close that I could swear they touched the edge of a pod and yet there it lands. Finally, for all the ignorant commenters: War of the Worlds is a novel written near the turn of the 20th century. It's origin doesn't lie within a shitty Tom Cruise movie, video game, or even a radio broadcast. Christ.

to suvius4 the reason they have old fashoned close is because the origional was set in that period of time not the new one with tom cruize or the other one where there floating on strings with the funny long necks, the origional on the album which comes with a full decription of time and date ( iforgot dates ) but ye thats he time its set in haha epic paragraph or what haha

Boring after level 3... Actually, the first level was too slow and so it was boring too. The next two were somewhat more interesting and sharpened my skill with the guns, which cannot be upgraded. Then, I decided to see what it was like to lose. Yes, the aliens doing the killing is the best part.

Game didn't seem to have much point to me. If you ask me, it was more amusing for me to watch those aliens slaughter my people than me shooting those ultra-slow cannonballs at them.

I like the steam-punk style of the game and the resemblance to the book. Its simple, and could use more work, but overall it is great.
3/5

2 for awesome presentation. I love the art. The game it self is lacking and i could only manage 3 levels before finding it boring. Still excellent job on the art, totally love the look.

1/5 you have no control over what cannon shoots, that makes it pointless to do anything besides shoot twice with any attempt otherwise you have no idea if you're actually going to hit the enemies

Nice game and a decent tribute, just a shame the gameplay is flawed. Good graphics and decent sound, but the game has a bad tendancy to lag between levels. The learning curve is a little steep from only having one pod at a time to deal with on the first level, to suddenly having 5 at a time on level two. The fact you have to hit the pods with the flak explosions from your bullets rather then your bullets is annoying as you constantly have the bullets flying through the pods. Also the fact you have to wait forever for a rocket to be launched from the ground once one lands, rather then being able to fire one, or kill the walkers with your bullets is bad too. An average game, marked down because of all the flaws. 2/5.
