Description
Treasure Bird in Dreamland is a 2d platformer set in a fantasy world. The hero of the story is Raum, a magical crow who has been tasked to steal treasure. As Raum you will travel to lands inspired by mythology, Valhalla, Olympus, Shangri La, and others, to steal treasure from the castles of kings. The game is heavy on exploration, and harkens back to the classic 2d platformers of yesteryear. Hidden across itâs vast vertical panoramas are rubies that need to be collected to advance to the next stage as well as all manner of gems, coins, and treasure chests. Your quest will not be easy as all manner of strange demons, slime creatures, and traps will block your path. Can you make your way to the massive final boss and achieve your redemption? Why does a crow want treasure? You will have to hone your platforming skills if you want to find out!

I quite like this game! It's fun, looks good and the flapping mechanic is a little bit different to the usual platforming fare. But, please, please don't make me start the whole game again every time I exhaust my lives. At least let me restart at the beginning of the world I was on. I understand you're aiming for the old skool flavour, which may be why you made this decision, but with such wide choice in games these days, I don't feel players (on the whole) have the patience for that anymore. (A cursory glance at various comment sections will expose complaints of death animations a second or two too long. Cries bewailing too many clicks to restart levels and tortoise-paced preloaders.) Players die, see with a grimace they have to restart at the very beginning, go "Oh well, that's a shame", and move on to the next game. Other than that, which is of course only my opinion, I reckon you've done a great job.

Thanks for your feedback! For this alpha version I decided to go this route to keep it challenging and retro, but I might add extra lives items, and if I ever expanded it I would add a save/checkpoint system.

Pretty good. A bit laggy, but it's ok and does not intrude on gameplay. I can understand why the loading takes a bit, being a fellow Stencyl prgrammer (in training, of course)but the *cutscenes* are kinda short. Nice graphics and music again. I like how you went with a bird instead of a land animal. It's challenging though. btw your youtube tutorials are helping me a lot with graphics. ^W^
