Kongregate has really been pushing text-heavy games by people who are in love with their own writing for BOTD lately.

Spoiler?
This snuck up on me. This hit surprisingly hard on some core moral values. Especially when paying attention to current events and debates happening around me. On one hand, no one can fault you for doing what you originally set out to do. It is totally expected. There is an option to help, but why would you help if you don't get anything in return? It's like willingly losing your job when you are up for promotion because someone you met a few days ago got into trouble a days trip away and you have to go save them or they die. You have 0 obligation. You barely know them.. but you know them well enough to care. Well enough that maybe the decision weighs on your conscience. Who just throws their entire life away for someone they've known for a single week? Probably no one. How many people chose to do that in this game? Probably most people. Why? Because it's what we wish we could do. We wish we could save them.. but we can't justify our own sacrifice and so we sacrifice others.
Thanks for taking the time to comment! It's really touching to know the story had an impact on someone.
I just finished a remake of this on itch.io so I came back here to check the old page and I'm glad I did. Seeing this comment was a big motivation boost.

If you want the BOTD quickly, hold ESC to speed up the text, use the hint below the choices to solve the puzzle, and choose "A potion for Izira" when asked, then the badge will unlock shortly afterwards

Another awesome game, I really enjoy all of your tales. Your storytelling is awesome, and the characters are very nicely made. I'd love to see more like these, perhaps more of the characters' stories. I'm always happy with the story, but a bit sad that it ended.

Beautiful story and i like you got to choose the potion yourself. I kinda wanted to keep it at only "best ending" but i wanted to know the other endings too and ofcourse they were both sad. Best ending is rlly the best and only good ending imo :)

Damn, you have a real talent for storytelling. I already binged most of your games and have probably gotten more attached to these characters than literally anyone else from any other browser game.
Though, I feel like having a way to bookmark my progress would definitely be nice to have. I'd sometimes feel like taking a break midway, but have to force myself to push through to the end of the game as to not lose my progress. While they're all fairly easy to skip through, it's still a bit tedious.
Otherwise, I really love your work dude. Thanks for your awesome stories!

More effort could've been put into the incorrect choices. Already mentioned by top comment @wfaulk but I wanted to just clarify that it's a pretty decent game though. Enjoyed it :)

Aww, that's heart warming! Never have I thought I'd get so much enjoyment out of a story with 1 background and 4 little characters with distinct personalities! I love little story novels like these! There isn't much gameplay, sure. It's mostly just book reading in interactive format, but as long as the story is good, that's fine by me. The music was moody and calming. It fitted. My only wish was to have all 4 characters on the screen at the same time. It would've made this more enjoyable to look at. Maybe some shot at different angles too would be great. But what it lacks doesn't take away the pleasure I had.

Bad tag. Good story. Anyway, wonder where inspiration for daytime theme came from. lol Can practically hear Bosch's voice as Rook. Funny his sister's named Ashe, huh? Maybe not. xD Gonna be hearing that tune in my sleep though. First donuts def not last donuts. Ty much. =p

@norcekri you do realize the guy who made all badges on Kong is Greg, right? The guy who made "thousand dollar soul". He's a fan of interactive fiction.

Okay, you have an animated storyboard filled in with text you haven't edited, and alpha-grade animation. Where is the game? Reading through errors in English mechanics, discontinuous dialogue and characterization, and the merest "stub" routines of the game flow, is not a useful way to spend my time.
I am at a loss as to why this got badged, let alone BotD.

I mean, seriously, would you rather fight a dragon or just select a potion for other people to fight the dragon? It wouldn't be particularly amazing anyway, since it's a free Flash game, but way better than what it is now. Voice acting would be nice at the very least since I would be able to look at the characters more instead of reading the text.

I'd rather do the adventures myself rather than read text for half an hour while selecting potions, which is neither challenging nor fun.

Not a bad game, but it could definitely use more 'game', if you catch my drift. Having each potion have multiple uses that require a little more context to choose between would be fun, and I found it a little underwhelming how little that system got used. The dialogue also got a little heavy at the start, which burnt me out on story early on, so I skipped a lot of the later text.

why didn't it work when I gave the stamina potion to them for the cold caves, tecnically she could use her magic to make fire and still have enough for battle -_-

I've gotten all three endings but I didn't still didn't get the Homebrewed Hospitality badge... And I assume Ending A was the 'true' ending and it was the first one I got...
