I think it is a very good game the desine and art stile look butiful without mutch work also the diferand qualite's of guns are astonishingly good

In hard mode, the mobs start firing ahead, as if guessing your movements. In normal mode, the mobs shoot at your position at the time of the shot
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
it's still not a particularly good game tho. better than a lot on this site but it really does just marry two better games kinda badly, with stiff AI and bad level design
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
imagine being so unfamiliar with games that this one confuses you somehow. nice to see it still runs fine on my machine despite how kongregate has butchered things over the years

@heavyduty if you press "esc" you should go to the main menu and then you should be able to choose which ever level you want

@derfius its a weird mechanic, sometimes you start with a weapon and other levels you don't have one. If you can't shoot straight away, walk up behind someone and click at close range. Then they drop their weapon. Walk forward a step until the gun is outlined with red (its in range) and right-click to pick it up. There will be an immediate blue flash meaning "ready to fire".

BOTD problem - I finished all 7 levels, but there is no tick awarded for levels 4 or 5. Is this just me or everyone ? A screenshot doesn't really prove I finished these levels.

For any new players: the game doesn't explain this very well, but (like in SUPERHOT), time slows down greatly when you aren't moving. Don't rush around in a panic, but stand still when you're going to need to dodge bullets (gives you more time to react). Also, you don't start with a gun, but that guy in front of you has one.

the hard badge is easy - just throw your weapon at the enemy that you want to kill, keep doing that and you will have a few pistols at your disposal that you can perma stun other shooters as well.

It's a shame we can't edit our comments here. I'd want to edit out the redundancies in mine, and elaborate that IDK whether the game was made in the Ludum Dare or not, but to me it surely seems to be made in the spirit of it =)
@harry37 Thanks for pointing out the full-game link in the main menu! I'm a bit disappointed that the wrong comment of yours got downvoted, tough. Not as disappointed as with Kong shitting up the user experience for the players and gamedevs alike, by butchering the site's UI, though =P

I think that the bad experiences voiced by some of the users are for real valid - for real. That said, I feel the need to say a few words in the gamedevs' defense. 1) the game *did* come out to imitate titles like "SUPERHOT" and "Hotlie Miami" (reflected in the game's title). 2) Per Ludum Dare's peculiarities, it was often up to the player to learn the game's mechanics. 3) Back when the game was uploaded, there was no *real need* for the in-game instructions. Then Kong killed its userfriendly UI. Now you have to scroll to even see what the game's called, and the sidebar's tab defaults to the Badges tab - the newer users, playing *older* games miss out on the instructions. Some games load 50 times faster now compared to when they were uploaded, so our ADHD has no time to get us bored, and start reading the sidebar. It used to be *given* that we took a glance at the sidebar to read about the game, and its controls, while the game was loading (or when stuck) — the OG Kong experience =)

Possibly the worst game I have ever played on this site. The lack of instructions makes what is a unbelievably shallow and dull experience even worse. Really save your time and energy and go play something else on this site. If I could give negative stare I would.

@harry37 - no, they don't because the game gives you no actual information that it exists. It doesn't tell you in the menu, in the commands, or even in the game instruction tab. It's ONLY mentioned in the 'description'. This is the kind of thing you give a basic tutorial for before the game starts. Why would anybody expect in a bullet game for time to slow down when you stop moving?

I just tried the full game on itch.io (linked in the main menu) and it's so freaking cool! SHOOTOUT INC is just more SUPERHOTline Miami Deluxe and I love it.

it's fun to put self imposed challenges! not just something like punching only (haven't attempted because that's above my skill level), but things like only pistol, only shooting once per gun, only move to the next room when current room is somepletely clear of enemies, etc. we don't really need to program those into the game, since we can just say "alright I am not allowed to throw away a gun until I've emptied the clip and if I do I will restart" and then we do that. 5/5 game needs more levels

This entire week has the absolute worst games. Time to die repeatedly during the first level just for a terrible BotD!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I already hate this game, I kill the first guy and cannot pick up the gun because as soon as I move I am immediately dead... so badge of the day is me dying 50 times
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Insisting players use wasd and not allowing cursor keys makes things much more difficult for left-handed players for no reason. You might have a great game here, but I can't play it
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
there should be a second badge for slappers only called guns dont kill people, hands do where every kill needs to be from hands
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
rlly enjoyed its a cool lil mashup, only gripe is I feel like a button that slowed down your movement instead of just relying on the length of your button presses would've made things feel a bit smoother

jasondeegan, that's the whole point. That very first level is a rite of passage, and it teaches you about the enemy firing patterns and where they'll shoot next. That very first level teaches you more than a plain old tutorial. Unlike the other levels, you don't have cover. It trains you in your bullet dodging abilities. If you can't get through it, or simply prefer a tutorial with boring "Press A to jump" or "Kill this enemy standing still, because you're probably too stupid to know that right click is how to fire your weapon," then I suppose this isn't for you. However, that doesn't warrant giving the entire game a low score. Once you know the controls (which are very, very simple), the game is really fun. I dunno. I just prefer looking at the whole picture, not the first thing I see.

Talk about throwing you to the wolves at the start, wow. Not enjoyable to get started and, thus, frustrating. So, got the badge and moved on. 1/5

Came back to this game after years, and realized that the game slows down when I am not moving. Way easier now. I thought it was random before.
