Carnival is when you don't release the arrow (left or right) key during the jump, make a flip and get a nice entry.
Right from the start: jump out of water -- nice entry -- wraparound (don't release the arrow) -- jump out of water (you should make a frontflip) and get a nice entry and.. Carnival:)

After exiting the tailslide with the up key release up and then press it down really quickly and hold it. Then you get some good tailslide speed. Also, starslides add to your tailsliding effectiveness.

No matter how much sideways speed I build up my tailslides always suck...any advice? I'm hitting the keys as fast as I can to get out of the slide and they always go lower than my normal jumps.

ah there... got the hard badge ... gotta make a nice big combo with tailslide jumps in it to get a good speed/ height .... that impossible badge is gonna be another thing... my best is 188 height

im not sure how you guys are jumping while doing a tailslide ... i cant seem to do it... cant get a jump higher than 110 either

What I did:
-go for 20 nice entries by 1:00 pass (while doing tricks in between dont know if that helps)
-go up at 45 degree angle and hit starslides up till nebula, dive
-go up at 45 degree angle and this time hit up as far as u can go up till saturn or neptune but then stop, drop
- go up from a tailslide on water and up up up. If time permits, allow to drop after neptune or before
- go up from tailslide, skip first 3 starslides, then hit as many as i can. Luck comes into play here as if neptune or pluto (new horizons) has no starslide then u wont make it. Hitting one makes it possible. Hitting both; very much so. Good luck out

not sure if others have figured this out as well, but you can use the glowing dolphin shadows to figure out your angle and ensure a nice entry

Getting that badge is not only about skill, but also luck.. If you missed the last (read – there were no) stars @ New Horisons – you can't get enough altitude..
But, with a bit of luck only the first time is “impossible”:)
