Tip. Play through once completely before coming back to find everything. Near the end you find a secret passage locator beam, and at several points during you find items that allow you to get to more places.

I'm pretty sure that Runner mode should be renamed to "Fireworks Mode", cause that's what it sounds like if you have a fully upgraded spread gun :D

How to give yourself motion sickness: Grind the tadpole minigame for diamonds for 20 minutes, then focus outside the game window and feel your stomach lurch as your brain tries to figure out why your screen appears to be moving to the left and staying still at the same time.

You can softlock the game by killing the final boss and then dying on the laser on the bottom, it just sits on a white screen :(

For those here for the easy badge, it's awarded when you end the level. You'll easily have enough to pay for three upgrades by then.

I had survived a vicious onslaught of creatures in Runner Mode, attacking left and right as I ran for my life, guns blazing, only to be stopped by a wooden crate. Brutal.

There is an exploitable glitch in the "tadpole" minigame. If you press tab at the moment of your death your character becomes ethereal and you can pass through everything but still attract gold for a good amount of time. If you pass 2000 meters in distance it will not give you the achievement.

I just uploaded an update with a few changes that you should see soon: Fixed freeze bug (if you click at the top of the screen), added story speed run times to high score board (sum of chapter times), fixed completion time and boss mode high scores, and decreased enemy spawn rate and speed in tadpole mode (so it's more fun and less frustrating). Thanks for the great suggestions and bug reports, your feedback is awesome!

A good tip so you don't have to bang your head in the wall......
Simply, shoot at the wall. If your "bullet" explodes when it hits, there is nothing there... but if the bullet doesn't seem to collide..........

You can check for hidden passageways by firing at a wall, if it hits the wall and disappears you know there's a passage if it just bounces and falls, it's just a wall

My conscience when playing this: Lava bad! we die in lava when we leap!
No if we leap then there will be a secret passage that will save us!
I guess your right...
*leaps* *dies* T_T

No stone unturned. No crate unexploded. No wall unbumped. No lava pool unswimmed. I'm just glad I'm still alive after this. - The Playable Character

I'd write up some witty review, but honestly... i just love it. This game is awesome. Its like... Tower of Greed and Metroid and the essence of all that is good mixed together.

@archerbob those are checkpoints per LEVEL you have to finish the entire level to save your progress (besides you should've had a lot more diamonds).

This is an amazing game. Although the story is a bit simple, it is still engaging. The gameplay is stellar with varied weapons, enemies, and landscapes, with interesting platforming segments, myriad secrets, and challenging bosses that are hard enough that you have to strategize and try a number of times, but not so challenging that you have to grind for hours to get to the right strength to beat them. The minigames are both fun and rewarding, and the achievements are just at the right level where I wanteds to try to get them all (except the platinum ones), but I didn't complete them all within a single hour.

First, I find it funny that every level 1 comment is negative with no constructive input. Anyway the game is good, but it could use a bit more work with the areas before the bosses, It's a bit annoying to go backwards to get more diamonds or just keep fighting the boss and hope you get lucky. Other than that it was a great game, good level design, good music, 4.5/5

@FlyFree12: Personally I like the rebound gun the best. It doesn't do as much damage as the prime, true; but the prime doesn't let you stand at the mouth of a passage, fire a few rounds, then stand back and watch the fun. And with autofire on, I can't even count how many times I just run around watching diamonds fall from killed monsters I never even see on-screen. As far as skills, you already have the main ones there. Attraction can be nice for early game when you don't feel like diving into lava for those last few diamonds, though. Also, Aegis is nice for not being chain-hit killed (somehow you get yourself backed into a corner, and every time you recover, you get hit again)

Rocket launchers can remove saws and when fully upgraed shoots about as fast as a not upgraded prime gun and are really useful in spamming bullets all over the screen.

i really like this game, and it's one of my favorite on kongregate. If there would be a Diamond Hollow 3, i would hope to see more levels, and new mobs. The game, for me, is a little too short, and repetitive. It should be longer, i wouldn't mind playing these for long periods of time.

Plot twist: the humans that the gun is refusing to kill are actually all zombies, and the professor is one of the last few survivors. Gone insane with lonliness, he no longer recognizes his own son, whom he locked away in this cave that he created for his own protection. The boy, similarly insane after no human contact, found the gun and gave it a personality, desperately trying to escape his father's stronghold.
